    My thoughts: who cares who the closer is when you're not competitive? If the Twins are going to lose 90 games, which it looks like they are, what do you even need a closer for? Just go by committee and take your lumps. Deal Duran AND Jax - get as much as you can for each. The Twins are going to be sellers and need to commit to selling. This is a total rebuild situation. The only untouchables are Joe Ryan and Royce Lewis - the latter only because his value is at an all-time low and the return just wouldn't be worth it.

    Honestly I think his 2024 was more of an outlier and he's regressing to his true self. Tigers have an opportunity to bury a limping Twins team this weekend.

    Title should have been "Rock Bottom". This is a 90-loss 4th place team as it stands. Get rid of everything you can, keep Lewis and Ryan and blow the rest of it up.

    Buxton could hit 30 homers again this year. Nice to see what he can do when healthy, fingers crossed. Hope this ignites the bats. This team has been impossible to watch lately just struggling to score 1 or 2 runs per game - not fun baseball. Pitching has carried this team so far. If the bats don't wake up, it's another 88 loss season.

    I'm with you David. This 2-1 deficit might as well be 12-1. Not sure what Rocco can do, go out there and take swings?

    Horrific offensive output yet again. Wake me up in 2 months when this team starts hitting and they're 9 games back in the wild card race. I'd rather watch them lose 12-8 every day than have to sit through any more of this.

    That 2019 juiced ball year was the worst thing that ever happened to this franchise. They've been closing their eyes and swinging as hard as they can ever since, it's now part of the team philosophy. It will set the team back a decade before it's all said and done.

    Yeah. I've never called for Rocco's head - but honestly his lack of enthusiasm can be such a killer. He'd be a great manager for the Yankees or Dodgers. Just even keel, let the players do their thing, etc. But he's not a good manager for a struggling team.

    Agreed, getting a little old blaming the pitchers. Team can't hit. Scored what, 5 runs this week? Really, really, really bad. Offense is awful.

    He's got the best situation in baseball. Zero fan expectations and a manager who never bothers to acknowledge the fact that this is a competition.

    When things are going bad for this team, they inflict a lot of damage on their fans. I still remember a couple years ago in Oakland, Twins desperately needed a victory and finally looked like they'd steal one, and then Arraez threw that ball away....MN seems to be in the midst of a similar rough patch. This team has a knack for finding ways to lose. A cynic would think they're throwing it on purpose.

    This one's over already. Only question is whether or not Astros need extras to finish it. A shameful week of baseball by an overmatched team on all sides of the ball.

    Just go ahead and blow it now, Jhoan, and save us all the nail-biting. Give up a homer or something and let us get back to our lives.

    When the Twins go into these offensive slumps they are unwatchable - at least for me. 2 runs, 3 runs, 2 runs, 1 run....watching the Twins try to score runs is like watching a 2 year-old try to pour themselves a glass of milk. They're overmatched, unprepared, and it's just a big mess. When fringe signings like Ty France and Harrison Bader are your most reliable bats, it's pretty awful. Of course, I suppose you could invest in the side stories, such as: Will Correa come around before it's too late? Is Buxton due for another injury? Will Jose Miranda frustrate Twins fans once again? Lucy's holding the football, folks. And we're all Charlie Brown.

    Carlos stinks, frankly. This entire team can hit well when they play the White Sox, Oakland or Pittsburgh - but get a .500 team in the other dugout and it's awfully difficult to watch.

    Didn't Texas come to Minnesota last year and sweep the Twins in a 4-game set or something? Kind of setting the tone for a massive slump? Am I remembering this right?

    Who wants three underperforming players who haven't proven themselves in the majors even after extended stints in the bigs? Their weaknesses have been on full display as have their struggles and inability to adjust. Whether you have a little junk to trade, or lots of junk to trade - it's still junk. And nobody wants it.

    Agreed. The Twins are just an average MLB team - slightly above average pitching, slightly below average hitting. They have trouble closing out winnable games, I don't see them making the playoffs, there's just not enough talent or leadership. That said, it's baseball and there are still some interesting things that might happen. Would be nice to see Bux set a record for games played and see what kind of numbers he puts up. Would be nice to see Joe Ryan take that next step and get some Cy Young votes. Would be nice to see Lewis start raking again and put up 20+ HRs and solidify the cleanup spot. Maybe the Twins will deal Larnach or something at the break. In short, I don't mind if the Twins are average or even below average. Just so long as they're not boring while they're at it.
