  1. Rich Hill is auditioning for teams today. Hopefully the Twins will take a look
  2. It's only a couple of weeks until the Sept. call ups. Martin is needed in the outfield, especially with Buxton hurting. Sending Lee down for a couple of weeks might help him refine his stroke. It has done so for others. If Farmer does massively fail when reactivated he can still be DFAed the and Lee recalled.
  3. Polanco has not been setting the world on fire for the Mariners. The Twins still have a shot at getting something out of it if Topa can do something. Also they do have the prospects Gonzales and Bowen. which could pay dividends. I always like that the Twins get a prospect or two thrown in on their trades, You never know, they might work out our become good trade bait down the line. I believe the Twins also have Desefani (SP) signed for next year too, so who knows? Keep our fingers crossed. Obviously teams weren't knocking the doors down with offers for Polanco.
  4. Ober is 29,. he is older than Lopez. Hopefully his arm is strong enough to take the rigors of a full season.
  5. The way Woods Richardson has looked in his last two starts they better keep all their St Paul starting options open and available. It beginning to look like they may need to skip him a time or two to rest his arm
  6. The Twins are paying 47% of the total income they get on salary at present only two teams that are above them in the standings spend more then( Dodgers and the Phillies) even the Yankees spend less on salary percent wise based on income than the Twins. The Pohlads are not trying to milk the team dry.. they have provided stable ownership local ownership for 40 years Would you rather they get into a mess like the current Timberwolves saga? Careful what you wish for..
  7. It's not how much money you spend, It's how you spend your money
  8. The fact that not 1 top 100 prospect was traded at the deadline is kind of indicative that that that the whole deadline trade thing is over rated. the sellers have the ability to hold the buyers for as pirate ransom. I saw no players on you list that in my option would greatly improve the Twins chances of making the playoffs. Really the Rockies front office? then you woke up HUH?
  9. Some how I think the front office has a better understanding of what's going on than we do. The Twins have won the Central 3 of the last 5 years and have a good shot this year, with improving and younger teams each year, while the farm system continues to get stronger. Those players you name all look good but most of them come with baggage of their own. Mahle and Lopez looked great when they came over couple years ago, how did that work out?
  10. What players that were traded do you think would have helped the Twins? Do you think the front office should have met the demands of the Tigers and White Sox for Fedde and Flarehty or gone beyond what the Astros gave for Kikuchi?
  11. It is hysterical to watch the feeding frenzy at the trade deadline every year and how the fans and media pressure teams into making stupid trades I am glad the Twins didn't get caught up in it again this year. Why mess up your team chemistry for a couple of mediocre additions? Festa seems like he might be able to handle the 5th starter spot just as well as any of rumored trade pickup ups and it didn't cost any prospects. If he falters Paddock should be back in a couple of weeks Don't panic!
  12. This is a very poorly written story. the Twins clearly got out bid by the Astros for Kikuchi, they gave up 3 major league ready players for a rental starter. The Twins would have been fools to do that, From reports the Tigers and White Sox wanted Jenkins, Lee or Rodreguez for Flaherty or Fedde once again they would have been fools to make those trades. I watched the Mets broadcast of the game yesterday, they interviewed their GM and asked him why no top 100 prospects were traded for pitching. He replied, because no pitchers that were traded were worth a top 100 prospect. Festa seems to be holding his own as the 5th starter. He shutout the Mets for five innings. Not bad for the 5th starter. I think the front office know what they are doing
