  1. Where does Twins Daily fiend its writers? Romper Room? Caratini is hitting about .280 and is a capable backup. He is not a HOFer, but he is hitting and a capable backup. Larnach is hitting.about .350 and receives hate. Meanwhile another writer posts how Wallner has turned the corner and is a budding second coming. Wallner is hitting .143, with 14 SO in 28 at bats.. Sure he has 2 HR's but he also has 2 RBI. Just like last year he had 22 HRs with 40 RBI. Just proves that the guy is a choke in clutch at bats. Put runners on base and Wallner will most likely strike out.
  2. I just don't understand the love affair fans with this guy. compare him to Miguel Sano. Sano had better career numbers and the fans booed him to death. Wallner has played right field his entire career. Sano played a different position almost every year. Larnach's numbers are not great, but better than Wallner's.
  3. He's got options, send him to St Paul to figure things out. It worked for Torii Hunter and others in the past.
  4. Funderburk came up two years ago and was impressive. He then went through a stretch where he was hit around pretty good and was sent up and down a couple of times. The second half of last season he seemed to have figured things out and became an effective reliever. Hopefully that trend continues..
  5. Why is it depressing? A Twins pitching pipeline prospect becoming an effective MLB reliever is depressing? WOW! He stepped up after the bullpen shake up at the end of last season. I say more power to him
  6. How is the Blue Jays contract with Berrios working out? They moved him to the bull pen last season and signed 2 starters over the winter. Ryan still needs to put a complete season together to prove his worth if he wants the big bucks
  7. The bottom line is they are not going to be able to replace a pitcher like Lopez. Last summer they traded key bullpen arms for supposedly future starters and the farm system has several highly hyped rising prospects. Several of these guys are in their mid 20's they are not kids anymore. Are they major leagues pitchers or wash outs. While we can't expect any of these guys to be Lopez now is the time to find out what these trades yielded. If the Twins have to trade or sign another starter it is pretty much admitting the trades last summer were failures and their farm system arms are overrated.
  8. The Twins are supposedly so deep in starting pitching prospects. Some of these guys are in their mid 20's. It is time for at least one of them to step up.
  9. This team could trade a bag of used balls for the entire Dodger team and someone would find fault with the deal.
  10. Remember Noah Miller? He won a minor league GG while in the Twin org. a couple of years ago. He was sent to the Dodgers for Manuel Margot. He is currently the Dodgers 25th ranked prospect and there is some talk that he is available. He still struggles with the bat but he is projected as a useful utility piece. I used to like to watch him play short in Spring Training games when the Twins had him. Was disappointed when Twins traded him.
  11. After the way, Julien, Lewis, Lee and others have come up and had impressive rookies seasons. Why be in a big rush to extend Keaschall. Jenkens so far has been very injury prone is he going to become another Lewis? I think these guys have some more proving to do before I'd throw my money at them.
  12. Why would they sign him? If they were to spend that kind of money spend it on signing Ryan. Signing Valdez would only lead to discontent on the team, makes no sense at all. Let's see what it does to the Tigers. They have the money to spend on him. But they can't come up with the money to sign their own 2 time Cy Young award winner. That is sure to have clubhouse and fan base implications. I sure am glad you are not the GM.
  13. What was good about the Correa signing? The guy pretty much used the Twins for his own good. He never wanted to be here, but settled on the Twins when no one else wanted him. He opted out after his first season and only came back after other teams again took a pass on hm for health reasons. The Twins once again jumped on the ego manics band wagon. Now they are still paying $10 million a year just to get rid of him. That was a good signing? On the worst list should be the Donaldson fiasco. What was that about? It made Sano once again change positions, which he did happily, but it is not an easy thing to do. Of course the media and fans were brutal on Sano's abilities there. That had to have an effect on his overall play. Donaldson was a clubhouse poison pill. At least they got the Yankees to eat his contract.
  14. Don't hear a whole lot about the stupid trade the Twins made for Lopez. Arraez just signed a 1 year deal with the Giants for $12 million. His stock is fallen like a brick. One of the best trades in the 2000's for the Twins.
  15. Bremer deserves it, but I'll bet he'd agree with me that biggest snub is probably one of his biggest influences ...Halsey Hall! Sure he was colorful and unconventional...but it was the 60's and that is what made him fun.
  16. For $2 million what the hey. He is only 35 and coming back to the Twins may be just what he needs. Theilbar looked washed up after 24 and he resurrected his career with the Cubs and he is older the Rogers. I would like to see them get Coulumbe (SP?) too, he is still available and threw some nice innings for the Twins last year. Also a nice power arm would be nice...trade Larnach and a prospect?
  17. I'd take Pascual are Perry over Morris any day. The only reason Pascual does not have multiple Cy Young's is they only gave out 1 award for both leagues in the 50's and early 60's. He should have won in 59 (I know they were still the Senators) regardless. He was the only pitcher to win 20 games in both 62 and 63. Perry could possibly have joined his brother as a 300 game winner if the Twins had used him a full time starter role throughout the 60's. One of the best trades in Twins history, Jack Kralick to Cleveland for Perry straight up.
  18. Remember who the high bidder was when the Pohlads bought the Twins? It was a New York real estate guy that declared bankruptcy several times, bankrupted casinos in Atlantic City and was famous for not paying his bills... Thankfully Calvin saw through him and went with the local guy. The Pohlads have had and have their faults, but they kept the Twins here and I for one have some real Twins memories over the last 40 some years. Oh by the way that other guys name was Trump
  19. The 40 man is full, I don't think they will be picking anyone
