He needs to go to St. P and get it together. I lost a lot of respect for him last year when he blamed the long season for his fall off last year. The guy played in 90 some games..

if the Twins let Falvey go there would be a rush to hire him. What a huge mistake that would be. The Twins need to hire a defensive and offensive guru to assist him in developing the franchise. To many guys are coming through the system and looking like future stars only to fizzle out once they reach the bigs (Julien, Miranda, Larnach, Lee is showing signs of reverting, Lewis had a terrible second half last year) The Twins need someone that keep these guys on track.

What happened to protecting the plate when you have two strikes on you? If the pitch is close swing and foul it off... at least swing and miss make an impression that you are trying. Don't stand there and look at it. Isn't that a fundamental rule of hitting?

Lopez will never have greater value, trade him. The Twins should be able to solve their 1st base and catching woes with the return. Baltimore's rotation is killing them, their top prospect is major league ready and is a C/1B. Paddock should also have some value. That's part of the game, trade from depth to strengthen your weaknesses

Seems logical to dangle Lopez at the trade deadline. Especially if the St Paul prospects keep developing. the Twins should be able to get a MLB ready 1st base type prospect and potentially a catcher too. Lopez will never have more value than he does right now. The Orioles rotation is looking bad, they should be looking hard for help. Their top prospect Samuel Basallo is a C/1B and is projected to debut this year. Their #2prospect Coby Mayo is a 3B/1B with huge power. also projected to debut this year. The Twins should be able to get at least one of those two and a couple more rising prospects.

Falvey has developed what appears to be a growing strong pitching pipeline, firing him would be a mistake. Find someone to focus on developing non pitchers, focus on fundamentals, hitting etc. from the rookie leagues on up. Hire a manager that not only plays computer baseball but remembers and understands the old game too. This seems to me is the organizations big weakness

The Padres and the Royals also gave up on Rooker, it isn't like the Twins alone totally blew that call. Although I remember watching him when they called him up as a rookie and before he broke his arm and thinking "wow".

Oh BS, If a manager or coach has no impact, look at the difference that O'Connell and Finch have had on the Vikings and Wolves. Both teams have changed from struggling with mediocrity to model franchises since they took over. The Pohlads main issues is not that they are cheap, but they are too loyal to their management, The Pohlads spend plenty of money on player development, technologies and facilities they are not cheap and I think they spend their money correctly. The Twins have developed a good pitching pipeline. But they need to develop a system of teaching fundamentals to their other prospects. There seems to be a real void in this area. A new focus is needed in this area, Major league players, should not be throwing to bases where no one is at, should not be going back to the dugout after being called safe, needs to make a complete follow through on his swings, on and on. A coach at any level should not put up with players that make these boneheaded errors.

Huh? this team doesn't understand the fundamentals of the game, plays lousy defense, the pitchers can't throw to first base, they can't run the bases, watch the hitters, they don't follow through on their swings. on and on and this is a well respected manager? By who? The Mets announcers were laughing at the Twins Monday night, that is respect? The whole Twins organization needs to start teaching fundamentals from Fort Meyers on up. Time for a shakeup from the bottom up

When you have a team that has a starting line up with a starting line up with 7 hitters below the Mendoza line the choice is rather easy -
Oh come on, whip me, beat me pay me $3 million. He is laughing all the way to St Paul. Look at what Musk is doing to federal employees. Fiiring them for poor jog performance right after they just got good appraisal. That's unfair.

At 6-6 and maybe still growing he is probably too tall to stay at SS. At that size though he might make a perfect 1st baseman

Yeah if he ever stays healthy. He so far has not shown that he is willing to change positions. I am beginning to question his overall makeup. But of course I am not in the clubhouse. One thing I will give Sano and I am sure it hurt his career is he was always willing to change positions to help the team, He went from 3rd to left to 3rd to 1st and listened to fans and writers critique his defense. Had to be hard to keep his mind on the game.

The Twins seems to have a plethora of up and coming arms right now, which is good. They are all reaching their mid 20's. Why not package a a couple for a up and coming 1st baseman type? The big team really could use some additional consistent offensive punch.

I like that the Twins are spending money on resources and technology for player development. This in the long run seems to me to be a smarter way to spend money than throwing a lot at over priced 30 something free agents.- 37 replies

Actually the Orioles taught him a couple of new pitches and changed his arm angle. He is a different pitcher now than he was two years ago. The Twins are getting a new improved version of him

What is it with these guys coming up through thei system looking like sure fire stars and. showing real promise and then falling apart? This happened with Buxton, Sano and Kepler, Larnach and Kirlioff, Now it is happening with Lewis, Julien Lee, Miranda etc. I realize injuries have had an impact on some of them. But it seems their development and motovation ends when they get called up.

I could see maybe doing this deal if this team had a realistic shot at doing something this year. But come on this is a team filled with holes. They have other areas to address before they worry about spending big on an expiring contract for the rotation. Unless they think they can get him and flip him in a bigger deal.

All that to get Cease on an expiring contract? Really? Maybe if you're looking to spin off on a deadline deal. But wow that's pretty much selling the farm

Cleveland has not tendered Sam Hentges yet. He is out for all of next season, but he might be an interesting left hander to sign and stash away. Hoping he can come back in 26.
