Baseball Gods to Tom Pohlad: 'Aight, Bet'
Rufus replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
How is spending more money going to help? Making some smart baseball moves will. If that involves increasing the pay role so be it. But just throwing money around will do diddily.- 128 replies

Baseball Gods to Tom Pohlad: 'Aight, Bet'
Rufus replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
The time to make major trade deadline deals is when your team has a legitimate shot at a winning it all. Not when your team might sneak into the playoffs. At this point the Twins should look at their strengths and trade from them to fill weaknesses (catching for pitching). They should not be trading any top prospects for expiring contracts.- 128 replies

I sure am glad you are not the GM. Caratini and Jackson are more than adequate behind the plate. 4 of the Twins top 14 prospects are catchers. Catching is this team's strength. If they can trade Jeffers and add another bullpen arm or fill in starter, Overall the team could be strengthened.

Twins Trade Deadline Buying Guide: Dream Scenarios
Rufus replied to Lucas Seehafer PT's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Did I say he was? He can add a glove to a team. He is not going to bring back prime talent. But what do the Twins do with him? Next year looks like wash and I doubt the Twins will keep him after this season. See what he can bring. Can't hurt. Also Castro was trending down last year and really went south after the Cubs got him,. He signed with the Rockies this year and has had a decent year (0.7 WAR). Kreidler has a 0.4 War. No ir wouldn't be a block buster trade...but who knows.- 61 replies

Twins Trade Deadline Buying Guide: Dream Scenarios
Rufus replied to Lucas Seehafer PT's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
When if not now? He's having a career year some one who needs a good fielding SS, utility man to fill in their roster for a play off run. They got a couple of decent prospects for Castro last year.- 61 replies

Twins Trade Deadline Buying Guide: Dream Scenarios
Rufus replied to Lucas Seehafer PT's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Even if the Twins make the play-offs this year, they most certainly would be knocked out in an early round. Now is the time for them to stock up. on prospects. Not the time to be trading away top prospects. Trade Larnach, Jeffers, Kreidler, Bell, maybe Ryan (next year is probably a wash out and in '28 these guys will be 2 years older,. The same for any of the veterans proposed in your scenarios) for more prospects. Bring up the guys knocking at the door in St Paul to see what they can do. If the minimum salary floor is raised. Then the Twins will have seen what the newbies can do and have money to extend those that look promising.- 61 replies

The Twins' Biggest Surprises at the All-Star Break
Rufus replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Kreidler and Larnach? The experts and fans freaked during the off season when the Twins tendered Larnach. Looks like the Twins management was right on that tender.- 40 replies

Victor Caratini Has Changed the Twins' Trade Deadline Outlook
Rufus replied to Cody Christie's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Trading Jeffers just makes sense. Caratini is signed for next season and Jackson, who is out of options, has proven a capable backup. (so much for Twins not making any moves last winter, Jackson, Caratini and Bell have all been very good adds and they did not have to sell the farm to get them) If the Twins do draft the catcher from Georgia it would also make Jeffers much more expendable. Why sign free agents this coming off season when next season is in doubt? Remember by 2028 players will be 2 years older, what will that lay off do to their skills? Most of the Twins top prospects are knocking on the door at St Paul and they will also be getting older in 2 seasons. The Twins should trade Jeffers, Larnach, Bell and Kreidler to try and bring back some bullpen help. This would open the door for the prospects to come up for the rest of the season and show if they can cut it. -
Where does Twins Daily fiend its writers? Romper Room? Caratini is hitting about .280 and is a capable backup. He is not a HOFer, but he is hitting and a capable backup. Larnach is hitting.about .350 and receives hate. Meanwhile another writer posts how Wallner has turned the corner and is a budding second coming. Wallner is hitting .143, with 14 SO in 28 at bats.. Sure he has 2 HR's but he also has 2 RBI. Just like last year he had 22 HRs with 40 RBI. Just proves that the guy is a choke in clutch at bats. Put runners on base and Wallner will most likely strike out.

Matt Wallner Has Made the Right Adjustment
Rufus replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I just don't understand the love affair fans with this guy. compare him to Miguel Sano. Sano had better career numbers and the fans booed him to death. Wallner has played right field his entire career. Sano played a different position almost every year. Larnach's numbers are not great, but better than Wallner's. -
Royce Lewis’s Spring Struggles: Fluke, or Red Flag?
Rufus replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
He's got options, send him to St Paul to figure things out. It worked for Torii Hunter and others in the past. -
How is the Blue Jays contract with Berrios working out? They moved him to the bull pen last season and signed 2 starters over the winter. Ryan still needs to put a complete season together to prove his worth if he wants the big bucks

Why the Twins Shouldn't Replace Pablo Lopez
Rufus replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The bottom line is they are not going to be able to replace a pitcher like Lopez. Last summer they traded key bullpen arms for supposedly future starters and the farm system has several highly hyped rising prospects. Several of these guys are in their mid 20's they are not kids anymore. Are they major leagues pitchers or wash outs. While we can't expect any of these guys to be Lopez now is the time to find out what these trades yielded. If the Twins have to trade or sign another starter it is pretty much admitting the trades last summer were failures and their farm system arms are overrated.- 39 replies

Finding Solace in the Wake of Pablo López's Bad News

Well Buxton could go down -
The Twins are supposedly so deep in starting pitching prospects. Some of these guys are in their mid 20's. It is time for at least one of them to step up.
