  1. Because Lewis was at third, the Twins needed a SS, that was where Lee preferred to play and he deserved a shot to earn the position. He proved he was a team player by agreeing to and embracing the move.
  2. Obviously like I said in my post it takes smart baseball minds, with hat innate ability to find the diamonds in the rough. Scouts that can best the bushes and find value not only in the first couple of rounds but on the second and third day of the draft and then developing those players once you have them.
  3. 4 of the 5 teams still in the running for the WS are low payroll teams. 3 of those teams have a lower payroll than the Twins. Proving that the idea of a salary cap and salary floor is just a lazy mans way of thinking a team can win. Sure the Dodgers are a big payroll team but they also consistently have a top 5 Farm System. Instead of going out and throwing money at aging free agents to raise the payroll. The Twins should focus more money on scouting, drafting and player development. Like anything else it takes smart management, hard work, beating the bushes for players to develop instead of just throwing money at players other teams have let go.
  4. why is it assumed that throwing money at the payroll in linear? If that was true the Mets would be winning World Series and the Guardians, Rays and Brewers would be amongst the dregs of baseball.
  5. It isn't how much money you spend, It's how you spend your money. Just throwing money at over priced free agents is not the answer. The Guardians, White Sox, and Rays have a smaller payroll than the Twins , The Brewers not much more and they are doing just fine.
  6. Lewis was at third so SS was the only spot for Lee. Keaschall was at second. Shelton showed is true value by getting Lewis to buy in on moving to 1st and moving Keaschall to the outfield. I don't think Baldelli would have thought of those moves or gotten the player to go along with them.
  7. A catcher has more value to a team than just what he does at the plate. How he handles pitchers. throwing, pitch framing, challenging pitch call on and on.
  8. The Twins have an opening on the 40. Alex Jackson was removed. I agree with he Rodriguez move though. The Twins need to get an idea of how he would do in the big time.
  9. The Twins are trying to make the playoffs. They have already rushed Cuplpepper to the big team. He is not setting the world on fire at this point Now you think they should bring up another rookie and put him in the lineup? That is putting a lot of pressure on them, It is hard enough for a player to make the step from Triple A to the bigs. Dropping them in the middle of a pennant race and expecting immediate success is expecting a lot
  10. It was about a 50/50 chance. He ran a long way to get there and was not at a good angle to it. An experienced outfielder chances would be a lot better. But I have also seen experienced outfielders make worse errors. These guys are human, they mess up sometimes..
  11. Well you should apply for a scouting job...Sounds like you have it all figured out
  12. Oh get real. The guy has been playing the outfield for something like two months. A mid season switch. Hunter and Lara have (had) years of experience in the outfield. I bet Hunter and Lara would look a bit green at 2nd base after playing 2 months also. How do you think you would do at your job if your boss switched your position? I bet you would make some mistakes too.
  13. Keashall is probably the best hitter on the team right now. The Twins are in the middle of a Wild Card chase and you want to bench their hottest hitter bring up another unproven rookie? How is rushing Culpepper working out? I sure am glad you are not the GM. je
  14. Replays showed the ball would have gone out even if he wouldn't have touched it. ''''''''it was a good try, he did not push it over the fence
  15. If they option Jackson, he will not clear waivers. Jeffers will most likely be gone next season, Jackson has a lot of value as Caratini's backup next season..
  16. A genuine shot at the World Series this year? Your kidding. The Twins are a couple of year away from that. They now have a genuine shot at a Wild Card. and they held onto all their top prospects, except Hill doing it.
  17. The White Sox and Guardians made some big moves. The Twins did not (at least yet, barring in last minute moves) mess with the big league team. The Tiger sand Royals pretty much threw in the towel.
  18. they gave up Dasan Hill and John Klein. and a minor league infeilder Toronto like MN native pitchers I guess. Two of their top 20 prospects. I like Hill, but he is having a down year
  19. Tyler Mahle look a like. Just what the Twins need another sore armed pitcher
  20. You got to be kidding with this trade....Are you trying for Tyler Mahle 2.0 on steroids?
  21. Funderburk was in the dugout tonight. I don't know if they have made a move yet. Funderburk has been looking good too. The whole pen has picked it up. LaTroy seems to have done a good job. So has the whole coaching staff.
