I wasn't talking about them. There are reporters and unaffiliated protesters there. But hey kids, violence IS the answer, collateral damage be dammed, so long as you think you are on the right side. Screw Dr. King and Ghandi.

You have absolutely no right to say that about me. None. Violence at a protest full of innocent people on domestic turf isn't even in the same ballpark as fighting a war against a genocidal war machine.

I agree, hypocrisy needs to be called out, ESPECIALLY when it's on your own side. And this is hypocrisy. Just because one thing doesn't rise to the scope or severity of another thing, doesn't make it a false equivalency to call them both out.

I edited my post, I think he'll slide in lower than I initially thought at Pipeline. 38th seems really bearish though... is Fangraphs always conservative with international signees, or are they just much lower on him specifically? -

This is a pretty good get for the Twins.By overall grade, he'd slide into our top 6 prospects at MLB Pipeline, with a 55 overall grade. They even comp him to Eddie Rosario, which is exciting, even if his odds are long and we won't know for 5 or 6 (or more) years. If he'd been signed before the updated top 30 series, Seth, where do you think you'd have ranked him? EDIT: I misread his pipeline profile, they actually haven't given overall grades yet to the international prospects. After comparing his tool grades to other prospects, I think they'll probably give him a 50 overall to start. That still puts him in the 6-13 range, which is still pretty good. -

I went back and reread my post where I agreed with you, and couldn't find anything that would even lead a reasonable person to suspect that there was any trepidation, there was absolutely none. I'm also not "poking around" to find disagreement. I thought I made that extremely clear in a previous post where I explicitly said it wasn't accusatory, simply seeking clarification of a single sentence statement. You spent a considerable amount of the above quoted post attempting to decide my intentions, even though I made them clear myself, and attempted to assign motives that were nowhere in my posts. Sorry Ewen, I once again made the mistake of trying to have an honest discussion with you. That's my fault for going back to that well when I knew better. It pains me, because there are very few dissenting views here, so I'd really like to have some to engage with. I will no longer respond to any of your posts, I ask politely that you please do not respond to any of mine.

You stated that a Christian in Egypt shouldn't expect special accommodations. I'm asking if you think a Christian in America should get special accommodations.

The conversation was discussing examples of religious accommodations in America, then you pivoted to Christian in Egypt. Unlike America, Egypt has an official religion, which would make Christianity a "foreign" religion. I was wondering if you were implying that only "foreign" religions shouldn't expect accommodations. It wasn't accusatory, I was just asking you to clarify if that was your intention or not.

Certainly. That's only a problem when people attempt to assign that to the entire faith, which happens a lot. It's a problem if people attempt to assign sexual abuse to the entire Catholic faith, as well.

One bad outing isn't enough to be considered "reverting back to his same failings" though. Everyone, no matter how good, has a bad outing here or there.

Very small in most cases, I'd imagine. Didn't mean to imply it was a majority. But certainly it was a significant number of people, based on the size and scope of the abuses that we now know took place. I'm sure some churches had higher rates than others. I can't believe that there weren't whispers at some of these churches where the worst abuses took place over decades.

What if your a Christian living in America? Should adjustments be made then?

It doesn't happen often, but I have to agree with Ewen here. Religion should be a personal thing. Schools and workplaces shouldn't be required to inconvenience other students or employees in order to accommodate religion. I think it's great if thoughtful people choose to accommodate, when reasonable, such as Carole's personal experiences, but nobody should be required to.
