  1. It's not just on principle. Polanco makes the minimum. I don't want to pay huge guaranteed money to a guy who may not be able to hit without PED's.
  2. I don't believe he said that he wouldn't trade top prospects, just not that specific one. He didn't seem to suggest that he wouldn't trade Kiriloff. I'd trade anyone in the system for the right player, except Lewis. I'm not trading him for anyone. You are right that this team needs front line pitching, but it also needs a superstar. There are no guarantees, but Lewis seems poised to become one.
  3. He HAS been awful away from Coors. .673 lifetime OPS away from Coors, that's unacceptable from anyone but a catcher.
  4. The Twins don't carry unspent payroll to the next year. This has been quoted straight from Dave St. Peter.
  5. Is there room on the boat? I'm ready to row. I said many pages ago that I'd buy in when he beats Wisconsin, and not a moment sooner. I meant it.
  6. That's not what he said though. How about we discuss what he actually said instead of trying to project what we think he might have meant. He literally said if it's your time, it's your time, can't change it.
  7. Correct me if I'm misunderstanding, but this reads to me that you're saying we are all predestined to die at an exact time and manner. Thankfully most don't agree, or we'd have no laws or safety standards. Why have safety codes and standards? Why not let everyone drive home hammered? Why have EMT's and ER surgeons? Why even call 911 in the first place, it's either your time to go, or it isn't, right?
  8. So they aren't willing to go out of their way to upset a significant portion of the fanbase to improve safety. But they are willing to go out of their way to upset a significant portion of the fanbase to PRETEND like they are trying to improve safety. Sorry, not buying that. Perhaps it's not innovative enough to prevent a modern attack, but I don't believe for a second that they are too lazy to try.
  9. Do we know for sure that he wasn't a top 10 pick by accident? Because that would kind of explain the pick.
  10. I think you answered your own question. Why would they go out of their way to upset a significant part of their fan base, unless they thought they were improving safety? Clearly they must think they are.
  11. A policy that affects one group more than others, by itself, is not discriminatory. There has to be prejudice as a motive. There isn't here. Women are more likely to carry a bag, but that is by choice. People who bring 1 year olds to a baseball game are more likely to carry a bag, but again, their choice.
  12. I tend to agree. Most troublemakers are just looking for A target, not necessarily THE target. If someone really wants to get into your house, they'll find a way around an angry Rottweiler. But usually any house will do, so they'll find one that doesn't have an angry Rottweiler.
  13. Lack of mlb experience isn't even a small concern for me. It's baseball, not rocket science. I think people that played it at a high level like to insist that it's more complicated than it is, but I don't think it's hard for smart people to figure out how it works.
  14. At least we sent kids, and not cats. That could have gotten really ugly!
  15. That would effectively make the regular season exhibition games. I prefer less postseason inclusion, not more.
  16. Clearly one of the best players, and person, to wear a Twins uniform. Best of luck in retirement Joe.
  17. Maybe, maybe not. It was a business decision. Plenty of people are capable of understanding business decisions are not personal. Others take it personally and never get over it. I don't think either one of us knows Buxton enough to know which one he is.
  18. They sent him down to get an extra year of service time, not for arbitration reasons. That says they do believe in his potential. Otherwise, why would they want that extra year?
  19. I'm guessing he's referring to Wander Javier. But to answer his question, not any time soon.
  20. They received a $50 million check for their share of the sale of BamTech. 50% of that extra revenue is $25 million, which is where the extra payroll in 2018 came from.
