    It's not a hard cap. It's akin to the HOV lane, you just have to pay a small fee and you can use it.

    The poster claimed the team touted Sano as the next Cabrera or Thomas. A scout saying 16 year old Sano "reminded" him of Cabrera is light years away from that.

    What did you expect to get for 2 months of Fernando Rodney? They didn't sign him just so they could flip him, so the millions they paid Rodney has nothing to do with the return they got. In fact, they saved 2 months worth of salary ($1.5m) by trading him.

    Some positions are more important than others, but they all matter. You can't outlaw the opposing team from hitting it to right field. I'll grant you Rosario, but Sano isn't even close to Kepler, IMO. Durability matters, a lot, and it's a skill, IMO.

    Same. I refuse to spend money at Walmart. I understand my few thousand dollars a year has no impact on the Walton fortune, but I still just can't do it.

    Presumably the person is still spending the money though. They are spending it at Lowe's, or their local hardware store instead of Home Depot. So any negative effect they have on employees at HD, is balanced by positive effect on employees at wherever they shift that spending to.

    This isn't a court of law. Steve's impression is good enough for me, especially considering they've never gone over, when the only penalty is money.

    If you join the FBI, you don't get to choose what city your assigned to. If you join the military, you go where they send you. The freedom is to choose another profession. I see zero lack of freedom here whatsoever.

    The only way Sano is a similar level player to those two is if we suggest that defense and durability are meaningless.

    Yes. Just think how good they could be if they weren't weighed down by having to carry the likes of Buxton, Polanco, Garver, Rosario, Kepler, and Berrios. Undefeated, most likely.
