  1. I won't blame them at all. These are all lottery tickets, and I'm of "the more lottery tickets you can accumulate, the higher your odds of hitting one" line of approach. If they are trading Gibson or Berrios or Rosario, then yeah, I'd judge the results, because you should be getting better than lottery tickets in those kinds of deals.
  2. I think Dozier wants to get paid. And I think he still believes he will get paid. So, I think there is a pretty good chance that he'd (foolishly?) turn down a QO. I think the FO plans to QO him, and won't trade him for less than a top 75-ish pick equivalent prospect, which I don't think they'll get, so long story short I don't think he gets moved.
  3. Seth, I think when we focus so much on one team, it's easy to forget that everyone deals with injuries. And those injuries happen to good players on other teams too. People have posted charts in other threads, a weighted injury count for each team, and the objective facts show that the Twins haven't been any more hampered by injuries than most teams. Basing an expectation off of presumed perfect health is fools gold from the start. More likely is that this team just wasn't quite as good as many expected.
  4. The Astros built a WS champion by intentionally tanking. IMO, a team that isn't close to contending and doesn't tank is misguided. Drafting high is a huge advantage in MLB, especially because of how the bonus pool is allotted.
  5. Sorry, I misinterpreted your post to allege that he was still considered a hot prospect. Yes, there was a time when he was.
  6. Until Rooker cuts that K rate drastically, I don't consider him a meaningful prospect, no matter how many HR's he hits. I realize I'm in the vast minority, perhaps even alone.
  7. They'll want Santana to start first out of the break though, not fifth. That way he gets 3 starts before the trade deadline.
  8. I was responding to someone saying he's fallen down prospect lists. He hasn't.
  9. Gordon has actually moved UP in most (perhaps ALL) midseason prospect ranking updates. He moved up from #80 in March, to #65 now on MLB pipeline. I think he's moved up even more dramatically on Baseball America. Not sure about fangraphs, but I think he's moved up there as well. He hasn't fallen down any prospect lists, at least not any I've seen.
  10. I might lean Dozier, but not enough to give up a real prospect.
  11. Jonathan Villar has a slightly lower OPS than Dozier, but slightly more WAR. For all intents and purposes, they've been roughly the same player. Not sure Milwaukee would view Dozier as an upgrade.
  12. If the Twins got caught negotiating a contract extension with another team's player, you'd see the biggest sanctions we've ever seen in pro sports, and Falvey and Levine would never work in a baseball FO again.
  13. Yes, the all-star game has become a meaningless joke, unfortunately, IMO. It's 100% pageantry, zero substance. That's fine, if that's what they want is a popularity contest. That obviously appeals to a lot of people, does nothing for me. But under those parameters, there is no such thing as a snub. It's no longer a representation of the best players, it's no longer designed to be. Rosario didn't get snubbed according to what the All-Star game is now. Its purely a popularity contest, and he's not yet popular enough.
  14. If those descriptions were objective, he'd be a top 30 prospect in all of baseball.
  15. The players are among those already doing the snubbing- they choose the reserves. So players picking more players isn't going to solve the issue of snubs.
  16. Walking papers? I never got walking papers. You know what I got? Some guy would come over to my desk and say get the hell out of here!
  17. Romero has already lost his prospect status. Kiriloff and Graterol have already passed Gordon and Gonsalves in my book, not sure which one I'd rank #2, that's a tough choice.
  18. He's not speedy, I'd guess doubly so since the knee injury. He doesn't have the arm for the left side of the infield. I'd guess if he doesn't stick at 2B he'll be a corner outfielder.
  19. It's possible, I suppose. If I had to guess, I'd think that's not a high priority for most players, even if it was for Reed.
  20. I mean, he's not driving to Missouri. He has to go through the airport hassle and catch a flight either way.
  21. He wasn't released. They have 7 days to trade him, and if he clears waivers he is still with the organization.
  22. Do we actually have any factual evidence that pitch counts reduced injuries and extend careers?
  23. Every player they acquired came with pretty big question marks, hence why they were available on such team friendly deals.
