  1. Not only that but there is just no reason whatsoever to give up on young upside when you are the worst team in the league. It's one thing when you are in a pennant race and you have to prioritize every single win right now. In that case, you can arguably justify it. Arcia has big time offensive potential. So far it's been hit or miss, nobody disputes that. But, the book is far from closed on his ability, and it wouldn't shock me if he goes on to have a very good career.
  2. I'm embarrassed that I live in an Era where 96 pitches is even a consideration.
  3. I just can't get used to Joe Buck announcing the US Open.
  4. That's not true. The Twins are not required to put him on waivers until the 7th day. The Twins can trade him to any team in baseball until that point. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_for_assignment?wprov=sfla1
  5. Well I read the article. And, though I've had 2 bloodies and 3 beers, I'm pretty sure Ryan said he sees Danny Santana as part of the solution out of this mess. Wow. Words cant.....
  6. Are some actually suggesting that as the worst team in baseball we should be buying, not selling?
  7. I can't help but notice that many of the same posters who are always preaching patience are the same ones saying that this is the right move. Maybe I'm just cynical but I can't help thinking they just defend the front office as a default.
  8. Apparently Grossman doesn't get after it and/or battle his tail off like DanSan does.
  9. Despite the worst record in the AL, this roster is just so loaded that they just didn't have room for him! Danny Santana, arguably one of the worst non catchers to ever carry a bat to the plate is somehow necessary to hold this team together! And notice how Seth hedges his bets so that 5 years from now when it's obvious this was a terrible move he can play it off as just another unlucky set of circumstances for Terry. On a 100+ loss team it's just sad that they couldn't commit to giving his bat a legit opportunity.
  10. Yeah I think Duffey is probably getting exposed a bit. A few weeks ago I would have put his ceiling at a nice cost controlled 4/5 starter, but now I'm thinking it's probably Matt Guerrier.
  11. Barring catastrophic injury, Berrios floor is a 4th starter. That's his absolute floor. Never ceases to amaze me how such tiny sample sizes can change people's perceptions.
  12. Of those 8 guys, the odds say that at most maybe 3 of them will make it to the big leagues for a sustained period of time, and 1 maybe 2 will hit their ceiling. That's just the nature of the beast with below AA prospects. No need to trade any of them at this point. If a few show sustained success at AA, then you can start thinking logjam.
  13. Judging by the results, I'd say the only possible answer is that this is what Terry already did.
  14. AAA is probably comparable to Korea. You could send him down to buy roster construction time, but it's not going to do him a lick of good.
  15. I don't think Park has a say in the matter.
  16. What do you think happened out there today Seth? Do you think he could have been tipping his pitches? The guy has MLB caliber stuff. Man this is such a cruel sport.
  17. I didn't think we could possibly draft a cooler name than Akill Baddoo, but then we drafted Patrick McGuff. I really hope that guy defies the odds and makes it, just so I can say Pat McGuff alot.
  18. So, like a total system failure?
  19. Even if those guys all pan out, who is going to pitch? This team is several years away from having a pitching staff that is just not embarrassing, never mind competitive. Sorry to say, but this team is not even close.
  20. Why? Because having Nunez might allow us to only lose 98 games the next couple years instead of 100? It's time for this club to finally fully commit to a rebuild. That means trading guys like him. Nunez will not continue to play even close to this well. I don't want to hear anything about supposed hindsight next year when he's a replacement level player and we declined to trade him.
  21. He may only bring back a lotto ticket or two, I'm fine with that. In a vacuum it's unlikely that whoever he brings back will pan out, but the more lottery tickets you acquire the better chance you have of hitting. We can sign anyone to ride the pine for a few more 90 loss seasons, we have no real need for Nunez in the near future. He has value coming off the bench on a contending team. Not so much on a 90 plus loss team.
  22. Some of the 11 through 40 picks bewildered me but I think Seth pretty much nailed 1 to 10. Though, I'd flip Berrios and Kepler, mainly because pitching is going to have a bigger impact on turning this thing around.
  23. Nunez will be, at best, the 24th or 25th player on someone's roster by the time the Twins are a WS contender again. I can't believe that roughly half the people in here think that we should hold onto him. They need to trade him, and trade him for whatever they can get today, while he's still hot. The "real" Eduardo Nunez is likely a replacement level player.
  24. Hated the Wimmers pick at the time. That and Levi are probably the only ones that were bad picks at the time.
