  1. Too late to edit, but my last post should say AA for Dozier, not AAA.
  2. Well it looks like we were able to trade Pat Mahomes to Boston for a PTBNL (Brian Looney), so I guess anything is possible.
  3. Polanco is at .852 this year at AAA as a 22 year old. I'd say that is comparable enough to Dozier's. 885 in AAA as a 24 year old. Dozier did OPS .832 in his 22 year old season....at rookie ball. Will Polanco be as good a major leaguer as Dozier? We don't know. He's a better prospect than Dozier was though, so that's a start.
  4. Aug 1 would get him 10 or 11 more starts, so I'm guessing spycake was including those 4 as well.
  5. I think his value was depressed but I don't agree he had zero value. I think someone might have been willing to throw a low A ball lotto ticket our way for him. The best he's worth now is PTBNL or cash, and that's if we eat most of his salary.
  6. Middle 70's wins this year? Yeah if that happens I'll take back everything I've ever said about Mollie and they should name the manager of the year award after him.
  7. Ummm hello? The correct answer is the departed.
  8. Cuddyer was pretty brutal at every position he played. Career dwar of minus 16.6. I'm not sure why you are using this as an example that worked out? 60 percent of his value on offense was negated by his bad defense. If anything this is a cautionary tale. Perhaps he'd have been a replacement level fielder if he'd stuck to one position.
  9. An extension is still completely unnecessary. Nunez will be 31 when he hits FA and will likely be viewed around the league as a utility player. You could probably re sign him for 2 years at 11 million (5.5 per) max if you still needed a bridge to Gordon.
  10. No, that would be many times WORSE than just about any mistake Antony could make, IMO. The Twins have real assets to trade this year and freezing them would be almost like punting an entire year of a rebuild.
  11. My guess on the month delay would be that Ryan wanted to eat most of Ervins salary to try to get a really good prospect back and Pohlad said no way am I paying that much for him to pitch somewhere else.
  12. Was any further research necessary to tell us that the Twins have one of (if not THE) the worst pitching staffs in baseball?
  13. Who else would make those decisions?
  14. If you are benching players facing Twins pitchers you are doing it wrong.
  15. I'm afraid I have to agree. It's beginning to look like there is a real chance that Span and Revere will have been traded for zero return. I'd say it's time to pull the plug permanently on this May to the bullpen experiment, let him get 8 to 10 starts to close out the season and use that info going into ST next year.
  16. It must be nice to think you are the only "real" baseball fan. Meanwhile, all of us pretend fans that wouldn't mind a few minor changes to speed up the pace of the game. Here is the thing. For me, in a vacuum, I can live without any changes. I'm not going anywhere. However, if you don't want our favorite sport to become a niche sport like boxing and horse racing, it's going to have to adapt to keep the interest of the masses.
  17. Calling up Boshers is the first move. Even if that was the plan at the time Ramirez was put on waivers, it wouldn't have been binding in any way. So it was Antony's call.
  18. Maybe Boshers is a more loveable guy than Chargois?
  19. Nolasco and Milone have pretty long and established track records. There is no way that 2 more starts, no matter good good or how bad they are, is going to change their value either way.
  20. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. I know this is just one move, but so far it seems Antony would just be a near exact continuation of Ryan.
  21. Criticizing Twins ownership for being cheap is not the same thing as expecting Mauer to give back money. The Twins play out of a publicly funded stadium. It the Pohlad's paid for their own facilities I wouldn't care one iota how cheap they decided to be.
  22. Because in baseball contracts are guaranteed. Both teams take on some risk when they sign one. If the Twins weren't willing to take the risk that Mauer wouldn't be worth the money, they shouldn't have signed on the dotted line. If the owners want a more performance based pay system, that's something they can attempt in the CBA. Barring that, Mauer has done nothing to breach the contract that both parties signed, and until/unless he does, he's entitled to every last penny.
  23. I'm just not sure I'm confident that an internal hire is going to be objective enough to fire a bunch of people that he's known for 10 or more years. He's probably been to their weddings, seen their kids graduate, etc. With hundreds of employees, there is no way that Ryan was the only problem. Do you trust Antony to fire all the guys who are not among the best at their duties?
  24. You lost respect for Pohlad because he fired Terry, or because he was honest with him? I don't think I've ever lost respect for someone for telling the truth.
