Why did you pluralize year? He was awful last year. As documented in this and the other Arcia thread, he's hit well this year when given continuous playing time.
If we fired Ryan and Mollie a month ago, there is a chance that Arcia would be getting a shot as the everyday DH, Sano would be rehabbing at 3B, and May would be stretching out to start. Based on that I'd say there is absolutely good reason to make changes in season.
No, he doesn't. It's the minor leagues. No reason he can't start and go 2 to 3 innings. Heck, even if he started and only went 1 inning, that would still be different. It's a different routine and mindset, starting vs relieving.
It shouldn't, but still does shock me that May is, it appears, staying in the bullpen. I guess I assumed it was a no brainer that now is as good a time as ever to put him back into the rotation.
Regarding Santana, the article also makes it clear that the Twins would likely have to eat a large chunk of his contract. That is simply not happening so long as Terry is still the GM.
Well if Arcia has a large enough sample size to be determined as a failed prospect, then I want to know how soon you are prepared to trade Buxton for cash. Not comparing their talent or upside, just the sample size given to them.
Can I get a preemptive list of the excuses we'll see to let the Twins off the hook when Arcia becomes a valuable player? And yes, before you ask, I'll absolutely eat crow if he busts out.
Sorry but I disagree on this depth. In fact I see it as a pretty big dry spot. Rosario and Grossman have ceilings of 4th outfielder IMO, and ABW, Palka and Harrison will likely never see more than a cup of coffee.
Both sides incur a risk when a contract is signed. Glen Perkins owes the team nothing. That said, I find his comments very curious. If it really makes him sick, he should donate it all to charity. I appreciate declaring that he intends to bust his butt to get back, but I don't really understand the comments about the money.
I'm sorry but having a good 10 game streak doesn't make Duffey as good as Blyleven. Which hall of Famers is Grossman as good as, based on the hot streak he had?
I disagree. It's a good thing for prospects to deal with slumps. It forces them to think about adjustments so they don't just cruise to the mlb on sheer talent alone. Now we (and he) get to see how he responds.
In #2, who exactly are you trading for a 28 year old ace that still leaves Sano, Buxton, Berrios, Kepler and Polanco? Any team trading a young ace is asking for one of Sano/Buxton plus Berrios plus one of Kepler/Polanco.
