  1. Just playing devil's advocate here. But, don't you think it's possible Santana could have injured his shoulder by pitching when he wasn't in pitching shape?
  2. That's only because Hughes is so terrible he can't even hit an adult human from 60.5 feet away.
  3. Except the Twins don't do this. When the Twins actually do hit on a reclamation project, instead of flipping them while they are hot, they hold onto them for so long, that all the positive contributions are eventually canceled out.
  4. I'm with you but Sano's bat will play anywhere, and Park and Mauer have 1B and DH locked up for at least 2 more years. So, that only leaves RF or 3B. I'd rather see him at the position he's played for 4 years in the minors.
  5. His lateral stiffness isn't so terrible that he couldn't play 3B acceptably for a few years. I'd guess he'd rank in the bottom half of 3b across the league, but I don't think he'd be flat out worse than every other 3b in baseball.
  6. Because either A) They don't have the talent, in which case the FO is to blame for assembling the team. Or They are not playing up to their talent level. This is on the field staff for not coaching them up to their ability. Explain to me why teams hire coaches if they don't have an effect on players?
  7. Well the few times I've seen him play 3B he's looked just fine to me. The fact the Twins insist he can't means nothing to me, considering their incompetence in so many other areas.
  8. Those questioning his defense, do you guys realize he's NEVER played out their in his life? It's not that easy to go play a new position for the very first time at this level. When Cuddyer was tried at second base, and was awful, fans and the team just raved about how great of a teammate he was for playing out of position, and not a peep about the quality of the defense. Why is Sano treated so much differently?
  9. Serious doubts?? You have got to be kidding me. Most prospects his age are still learning AA, and look at the mlb numbers he's already put up! You should be ecstatic that we actually have one of these prospects putting up numbers, and at such a young age. Man, the expectations are crazy around here sometimes.
  10. The problem with your argument is that the Pohlad's don't even spend the 52% of revenue anymore. They told the taxpayers that they needed us to build a new stadium for them, so that they could spend enough to compete. Payroll went up for a season or two, then they steadily dropped it, hoping nobody would notice. And that's another argument. None of those other examples you cite are funded by taxpayer dollars. Some other industries are given select tax breaks, but that is not comparable to flat out paying cash money for a businesses facilities. Some might even consider that fraudulent behavior.
  11. LENIII stated, in his live chat today, that he doesn't get the feeling sending Dozier to AAA is being considered.
  12. I was happy to see that LENIII made sure to state unequivocally, in his chat today, that Sano is not a toxic attitude and is a really good kid.
  13. Maybe, but aside from Sano and Duffey, was anyone on the Twins roster today a part of these last 4 winning milb seasons?
  14. My personal preference is that service time has nothing to do with when he does or does not come back up.
  15. Yep for whatever reason, Mollie has shown he simply will not play Polanco. He needs to play every day in AAA so that he can establish some trade value before the off season.
  16. Babip doesn't tell a lot alone. He's hitting more fly balls and less line drives than he has in the past Those two things are going to naturally bring down his babip, independent of luck, though probably not quite this much.
  17. Ruesse has no standing calling out anyone else's attitude, period. Talk about pot calling kettle black.
  18. Well I missed Park and Duffey, for starters. Potential is one thing, I don't consider that nucleus though. Where are we if that potential doesn't pan out?
  19. Effort at what? Trying to pretend being someone you aren't isn't going to have the effect you are seeking. It only takes watching one interview with Joe to see he's not a leader. Again, that's not something you can learn, at least not as an adult.
  20. I forgot about Park. You are probably right on Duffey, though he'd probably be a 4/5 on a contending team. Abad is a tiny sample size so far and was a minor league FA. Dozier no way. He's barely a replacement level player at this point.
  21. So that makes it classy? By the way, as demonstrated in the linked article, Suzuki was worse. Where are Perkins comments ripping his catching ability? Comments ripping teammates are best kept behind closed doors.
  22. I actually do think the nucleus is that bad. On the entire 25 man roster, I think Sano, (and maybe Ervin) is the only player that a WS contending GM would want on his roster in any capacity.
  23. This poor attitude crap is just trash being thrown out by the FO to take heat off of them. Id say Sano has the attitude of a saint to have handled being jerked around as well as he has.
  24. Meh, you can't be someone you aren't. Some guys are natural leaders, some guys are not. It's not something you can learn. I have worked for people who were not natural leaders and it was laughably transparent when they tried to be.
  25. Well we disagree. Short term thrills at the expense of the future are not productive. Although we were on contention, let's be real that team had zero chance of winning it all. Many of our current problems are directly caused by that fluke month of May, as well as many more future problems that haven't affected us yet.
