  1. What did Jorge Polanco see that got him in the witness protection system? Seriously, why is he even on the team? This is absurd, send him back to AAA so he can get some AB's to build his trade value.
  2. Maybe its let's wait more than 2 or 3 games before we declare him a productive outfielder? I would expect this sort of extreme small sample size bias from a fan, but coming from our GM is extremely disturbing.
  3. That depends on if his statement is the truth or just generic cliche. Having an employee who knows he will never be held accountable for his performance is inviting even more chaos.
  4. This can't be a real quote from Ryan. Is this from the onion? I guess his belief in extremely small sample sizes shouldn't be a surprise given some of their other decisions.
  5. If the criteria for promotion is that a player can never have one bad game, then nobody would ever get promoted.
  6. "We are not happy with the performance, and everyone in the organization is being evaluated." Not sure what would be wrong with a statement like that. You are right in the end, that words are really meaningless, but at least make an attempt to acknowledge there is a problem.
  7. He had a very low k rate, and a very low babip. Aside from the stats, people who see the games posted that he was hitting line drives at people.
  8. Seth, that just isn't true. You (as close as you follow milb) of all people know Kepler was pounding the ball and getting extremely unlucky earlier.
  9. I understand that, but here is my main issue with it. Nothing will change until the club stops making money. The club will never stop making money as long as the mainstream, casual fan has hope. The broadcasters can polish a turd and present it convincingly to a casual fan. I talk to people every day who, based on last year and comments from the team, think we can still turn this around. It's propaganda, pure and simple! That said, will it ever change? Probably not. This isn't a problem in the NFL, but network broadcasts of every game obviously won't work in baseball, with 15 games every day.
  10. Most years this is probably true. But, I don't have to be a professional chef to know when I'm being served dog food.
  11. Nothing, that's why I said they are essentially the same player ( against a lefty). Sure, I bet MOllie would love a HR there, but as Mick famously said, you can't always get what you want. Personally I'd go with the guy most likely to not make an out (Polanco), and go from there.
  12. I never wanted Molitor. The main reason being all the stuff I heard about how he never been completely sure he wanted to be a manager, almost like he would need to be sold on managing. Sorry, it may be selfish, since it's probably not a healthy lifestyle, but I want someone like Thibodaux or Kill as my manager. Someone who eats, sleeps and breathes the job. Someone who is 100% sure they are doing their dream job. I don't get the feeling that Mollie is that guy.
  13. Ryan's latest comments don't suggest he views us as sellers. At least not at this point. "We can fix the thing," Ryan told KSTP's Darren Wolfson Friday at Target Field. "We gotta get pointed in the right direction. I haven't changed my opinion about the nucleus of this team. "
  14. Yep, still nobody said remotely anything like that. People can be critical of a player who is struggling without suggesting all our problems would be solved without that player. Exactly what rule are you suggesting Wizard? That we shouldn't criticize any player, since we are so bad no one player makes a difference? Or that we can only criticize the very worst player on the team and nobody else? Or that we can criticize anyone but Mauer, no matter how bad he plays? Exactly what is it you are getting at?
  15. Howard Lake Orphans! Just got bsck from another home win, 11-1.
  16. Yeah I don't think a single person in here is trying to lay the blame for this season at Mauer's feet. Excellent straw man though.
  17. To be fair I don't dispute that I don't know, which is why I'm asking not stating. Really I just don't even have the enthusiasm to even care any more at this point either way.
  18. Arcia wasn't in the starting lineup tonight against a pitcher against whom lefties OPS almost 300 points higher than righties. I mean what is the rationale behind something like that?
  19. In fairness to May, it should be quite clear by now that whatever is wrong with this organization is very contagious.
  20. With the mlb season in the tank, they're going all in on a AAA title.
  21. Ok that's not as good, but I'm guessing most players stats look like that if you take out their hottest stretch. The hot stretch counts. Also, and I don't know if it's still the case, but earlier in the year he led all of baseball in line drive %, so he's had some poor luck too.
  22. Those numbers you listed are not deep freeze. Unless I'm reading your numbers wrong, you cite a .997 OPS and an 858 OPS as deep freeze slumps. Those are pretty good numbers. When you factor in his age, his stint thus far has been very encouraging.
  23. That's kinda my point. After about 10 days into April nobody is going to be 100%. If Buxton needs to be 100% to succeed then we have a big problem. If "annoyance" is enough to keep him out of the lineup, then we have a big problem. Again, I hope it's the club being severely over cautious.
  24. Ugh, hopefully Souhan is less plugged in than Ruesse. In an article today, Souhan all but guarantees that Ryan won't step down, that he'd have to be fired. Says this time is different than last time because last time he left when they were winning and he is too loyal to his people to risk them losing their jobs. I'm having a hard time seeing a path to success for this club I have zero faith that Ryan is still capable.
  25. Perhaps tough is the wrong word? Competitive desire, maybe? He's lacking something if he wants out of the game in that situation just because he's tired.
