  1. Because if he's at a level that's not challenging him then he might as well be sitting at home on his couch, it's not helping his development. Players learn by being challenged and learning how to adjust. I just don't see how him and Wade can possibly be forced to make any significant adjustments with as easy as they are making it look right now. I don't believe it harms a player one bit if you promote them aggressively and have to move them back down if it turns out they are not ready. In fact, it might be good for their development because then they know exactly what doesn't work at the next level.
  2. So the Twins will prematurely add Berrios to the 40 man roster, just so they can give him a super short leash (4 starts). But, they can't promote Gonsalves to AA until they are sure he'll stick there? Don't those seem a little contradictory?
  3. I'd be willing to bet even money that we finish worse than Atlanta. And I think we finish at least 5 games worse than them too. We may have more talent, but they apparently have some level of play that's unacceptable, as evident by firing their manager. I don't believe that exists here. I'm not sure I've even heard Mollie or Terry call out a veteran by name.
  4. Playing those guys at AAA does nothing for the future. There is no amount of AAA that can prepare a guy for mlb pitching. The longer they stay down there, the further we kick the can down the road. These guys will struggle initially if they had 5000 AAA at bats! Get the struggles out of the way this year, not throw away next year too.
  5. Hey Molitor isn't convinced that we are out of this thing yet though! That guy needs professional help if he truly believes that.
  6. Nothing in Arcia's statistical history suggests he has much of a chance of hitting a HR against a lefty. (1 per 46.5 AB vs 1 per 17 AB vs righties.) I want a manager who makes decisions based on logic and facts, not irrational hope.
  7. 1) where was Polanco? 2) against lefties Arcia and Mastroianni are basically the same hitter, and Mastroianni would have to sub into CF either way. So, why burn 2 bench players when you can get the same result with one?
  8. Molitor makes at least one bone headed, incompetent move every game. Now, you are right when you say that no manager would turn this team into a contender. I don't think anyone here suggests Molitor is the only, or even biggest problem. However, some of us here have seen enough terrible, awful decisions that we don't want him around to screw it up in a few years when we DO have a roster capable of competing.
  9. Maybe, but the Cubs also don't have an irrational fear of spending any real money (relative to provide sports), so it's probably not going to bother them too much. The Twins incessant fear of spending money is what forced them to have to do that extension. Hughes was already here, so it wouldn't have been the same as trying to sign an FA. They wouldn't have had to convince him to come here, they only would potentially have had to pony up legit ace money, and we know that will never happen.
  10. Ok well I guess I owe Mollie a bit of an apology. Lavelle left out the first paragraph of those comments, which in context make the second paragraph not as harsh as it seemed on its own. That said I still don't think Mollie is the best guy to lead a rebuild.
  11. Well, judging by Mollie's harsh comments, I don't think we'll be seeing Berrios back with the mlb club anytime soon, and will probably be getting the Meyer treatment from Molitor. I don't understand why they would choose a manager with so little patience for young players, given where they were at when they hired him.
  12. How can so many Twins pitchers have arm or shoulder fatigue so early in the season? It's pretty clear the training staff or techniques need to change. Is this club still adamantly against long toss for its pitchers?
  13. Why isn't he on the DL? He doesn't get to have it both ways, sorry. If he's healthy enough to start, he should be expected to go 100+ pitches. If not, he should be on the DL, period. I mean, is he trying to tough it out because we are in a pennant race?
  14. Didn't Patrick write a column out of Spring Training titled, "what's not to like"?
  15. I get it. But 2014 Danny Santana showed that babip luck can last quite a long time in baseball. It's my belief that is what we are seeing from Nunez right now. You disagree. I can respect that, it's cool.
  16. OR c) he's just using a magic 8 ball.
  17. I think he's been better, but I don't think the margin is as wide as you do, I think it's mostly luck based.
  18. I'll have to respectfully disagree. I'm at a point with this organization where I don't really think they are competent at any aspect, aside from maybe concessions at Target Field.
  19. Well with all the mistakes and misevaluations that this organization has made the last few years, I don't think I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that Polanco can't play SS just because they say so. And if Polanco can't out hit Nunez (.709 career OPS, 93 OPS+), then I'm going to be very disappointed.
  20. Our manager pinch hit Arcia against a lefty last night. Let that sink in a bit. Someone screwed up really badly if Arcia vs a lefty is ever your best move.
  21. 1)I'm not saying he doesn't have value. I think he does. I'm on record in plenty of threads with how much I like him as a bench bat. 2) No, not .330, but he does have to significantly out hit his career averages to be an everyday player, considering how bad he is in the field. 3) I'm not arguing he doesn't belong on the team. I could go either way on that. I'm arguing he shouldn't be blocking Polanco. I'm sorry Brandon, with all due respect, I just think that's insane.
  22. So in other words this stretch of offense likely isn't sustainable once his babip normalizes.
  23. Hmm, who knew coaching was an actual thing. I've heard of it, but never really seen it around these parts.
  24. Sorry, in the long history of baseball nothing has ever been "clear" after 15 innings. There is a reason why they play 162 games.
