  1. LENIII said on Barrerio yesterday that Ryan and Mollie have been waiting all season for someone inside the locker room to step up and be a leader and that they are kinda shocked that nobody in there has yet.
  2. What's his babip over that stretch? It's .390 this season. (Career .302) Aside from that, he's a butcher in the field.
  3. “The money thing for 30 years has been the same theme from time to time: ‘We don’t spend enough money,’” Pohlad told Scoggins in discussing the Twins’ payroll. “I probably know something, I believe, more than the average fan in that regard. Money does not fix the issue.” http://www.1500espn.com/news/2016/05/zulgad-talk-about-a-total-system-failure-pohlads-message-is-latest-blunder-by-twins/
  4. Funny how when ownership wanted us to build them a stadium, they said they needed the revenue to field a competitive team. Now they say money can't fix this mess.
  5. Well crap. This isn't going to help with Molitor's trust issues regarding young players.
  6. Well Polanco in the lineup lasted all of one day. I guess he didn't get the memo that hitting HR's are frowned upon.
  7. Carrying a rule V guy all season is an investment. The Twins effectively loaned out money, and then tore up the contract before the first payment was due.
  8. Did the Twins cut Johan a month into the following season? I'm not ripping them carrying Graham for a season, on the contrary- I actually think that's the part they got right, I'm ripping them for subsequently cutting him so fast this year. The hard part (stashing him on the 25) was over. Now they got to reap the benefits of that, and they effectively said, "you know that guy we carried on our roster for a full year, even though we knew he didn't belong yet on talent alone? Yeah we changed our minds about that guy, oops! Sorry Mollie!" Graham was SUPPOSED to struggle last year. That is the whole reason he was available in the Rule V. Therefore, I don't use his 2015 numbers against him, he was in over his head in mlb, just like Johan was his Rule V season. That means they cut bait, after carrying him all last season as dead weight, protecting him all winter, over an insignificant 8 milb innings, and 1 mlb appearance!
  9. That wasn't the question I responded to. Why are you moving the goalposts?
  10. Yep, and Perkins does the fist pump on the mound. Yet that same Perkins was on the radio calling out that kid for Cleveland last year. What a hypocrite.
  11. I have to agree with Ben and Levi on this one. If the Twins ever behave this way at a game I bring my kids to, it will be the last time they ever get a penny from me, and all of our Twins gear and merchandise will be going in the trash can as soon as we get home. If I wanted to bring my kids to WWE, I would.
  12. There is never going to be a roster spot here for Vargas with Park being legit.
  13. I think we are at 39 right now on the 40, are we not? Regardless, there are guys on the 40 that can be removed, like Wimmers and Vargas. Polanco's development is far more important than hoping to scrape some value out of Wimmers or Vargas.
  14. If Polanco isn't going to play every day, I'd rather have Beresford up here rotting on the bench.
  15. I still feel that SP is where we have the furthest to go to be legit WS contenders one day. As we saw in the 2k's, a bunch of average starters can get you to the playoffs, but you need top of the rotation arms to go deep. I think Berrios will be a #2, with a chance to be an ace. I think Duffey could be a very solid #3. Gibson I guess could be a passable 4 or 5, though I'm not as sold as some. Santana at this age is a 4, but it really doesn't matter, he won't be a significant piece by the time we are ready to compete. Hughes and Nolasco don't belong in any rotation, IMO. May could be a solid 2 or 3, but I think he's stuck in the bullpen for good without a regime change. Meyer, who knows, but personally I still love his upside. But, I don't think he'll ever get a legit shot here. There is some hope in the low minors, but I like to see how they fare at AA before getting excited. Bottom line, I still don't see a ton of hope here. At least not in the near future, until we see how those Ft. Myers boys do at the higher levels.
  16. Of course neither of us know anything for sure. He is pitching just like he did last year when the games counted. The only outlier is his performance in practice games, when by the way, he was working on a change up, not results, because he had been falsely told he had already earned a rotation spot based on games that counted (which he should have). Given how the Twins looked in ST this year (like WS contenders), compared to how they look in games that count, I hope this is finally the year the Twins realize that ST results mean absolutely nothing.
  17. Not sure if serious.
  18. Duffey continues to pitch great in the majors. Some guys are just better than the sum of their parts, that's the fun part of sports. This FO didn't think this guy was one of our 5 best starting pitchers, based on a few practice games!
  19. Great post. I agree nearly 100% on all points. The only addendum being I'd add to #7 moving May into the rotation. The club has claimed all along that they havent closed the book on him starting. Well, if there is ever going to be a golden opportunity to move him back, it's now.
  20. Well I'd say be careful of tiny sample sizes. Graham wasn't great last year, but I think the goal was to keep him healthy, and hide him for a season. Mission accomplished. Then, he dedicated himself to getting into great shape over the off season, and did so, losing 30 pounds. The Twins liked him enough to again protect him over the winter, after carrying him on the 25 all last year. They made it through the hard part people!!!! That was, stashing him on the mlb roster for a season. Now, he had minor league options, and plenty of worse trash than him on the 40 man roster. But now they give up on him after 8 milb innings and 1 mlb appearance? That is such a tiny sample size, that it might as well not exist. The Twins had 67 pitches last year of 97mph plus, Graham had 32 of them. The guy can throw it, he should have been given more than 10 or 11 innings to show it, period. He won't go on to be Mo Rivera, I get that, but I believe he WILL be a good mlb reliever, and I would like one person to give me a logical reason why we needed to give him away, instead of just saying over and over that it doesn't matter that we did.
  21. Then why did the Twins use a 40 man roster spot to protect him over the winter?
  22. Nobody is claiming he's Rivera. We are to the point that management's mistakes can only be criticized if they are epic in scale? Whether or not Graham or Jones ends up being good is beside the point, in fact that would be the hindsight that is always used to defend this organization. They let go 2 prospects, for nothing (they will get cash for Graham), for no reason (someone pointed out on page 1 or 2 the various other 40 man solutions, not to mention plenty of non prospects on the 40 man), after protecting him all last season and over the winter.
  23. That scene in Kingpin where Showdown plays is one of the best comedy scenes of all time.
  24. Yep, there is absolutely no reason, in the day of smart phones, the Internet and email, that the period needs to be 10 days. Like always, baseball is as slow as molasses to adjust.
  25. The only reason I would consider getting him back up sooner is his defense. This OF defense is so bad, I think it has a negative mental effect on the pitching staff.
