  1. Don't worry, Pohlad released a statement saying that Bremer will be back in 2017 regardless of who the new GM is.
  2. Oh absolutely. Like I said, scary is just one of a mix of emotions that come with raising a child. The good ones you get from them far outweigh the bad ones...most of the time!
  3. People don't often think rationally when it comes to the best interest of their children.
  4. If it's so likely that Pohlads remarks regarding Mollie are purely lip service than who does it serve to even say them? Are some suggesting that Molitor is so dense that we can spot empty rhetoric but he can't? Pohlad may eventually change his mind regarding Molitor, but at this moment I think he believes what he said.
  5. I have one child of each gender, and scary is one part of the overall mix of emotions that comes with raising any child. Because of the fact that there are predators in our society, and women are much more likely to be the victim of many types of them, such as sexual assault and domestic violence, then yes there is a different kind of fear that comes with raising a daughter. If someone believes that thought process makes me sexist, then I guess I will have to take my medicine on that.
  6. You don't have to say that. "Molitor will be our manager through the remainder of this season. At this time, we think he is the right man for the job, but it really wouldn't be fair to speculate on how the new GM will evaluate our staff going into next year. " What would have been wrong with that statement?
  7. Good news! Pohlad is comparing all the media guides as we speak.
  8. Classic. My daughter went as Eeyore for her first Halloween. Crazy that was 12 years ago! Thanks for reminding me of that!
  9. But there was still supposedly a 3 or 4 week gap in there. So, there is still a timing aspect there. Maybe they wanted to wait until after the HOF weekend? That seems kind of trivial, considering there are actual baseball decisions that need to be made, other teams have already started making deadline trades. Or, perhaps this is because of a disagreement, and rather than turn it into an ugly he said she said argument, all parties agreed to say it's been in the works for some time. Even if you disregard the 3 week delay, we've known the season was lost for much, much longer than that, so there is another question of timing. What changed on say, July 1st that was substantially different than on June 1st? I'm not convinced there wasn't a specific philosophical difference involved here somewhere, though we'll likely never know.
  10. Yep, the news that St Peter is basically leading the search, and will work above the new hire, pretty much eliminates any forward thinking candidate, IMO.
  11. By saying there are only so many of these jobs, you are already lowering your aim. The best and brightest minds are not going to feel like they can't pass up a job because there are only so many. The best and brightest are going to have multiple teams vying for their services. Guys like that are going to laugh at an owner choosing the manager. Shouldn't we be setting our sights on those guys, not just the guys who are going to take the first job offered? If I'm a highly sought after potential GM, I'm not even considering a situation where I can't even choose my own manager.
  12. That certainly adds some perspective to this seemingly irrational demand that Molitor retain his job.
  13. Maybe, but how many good candidates will cross themselves off our list, due to a perception that ownership will meddle, before Pohlad comes to that realization?
  14. Number 2 should be a 0/10, IMO. First of all, as you mentioned, the Nats are in a pennant race. The Twins were last in baseball. Washington's #1 priority this year is winning games, while ours should be developing young players. That alone should make it a 0, but if you need more, Giolito was sent back down so that Strasburg could take his place. Berrios was replaced by Pat Dean.
  15. Mauer could move to the bench.
  16. I agree in principle. Don't really agree on Walker. Not that he really has any trade value, so sure hang on to him. In fact, I'm on the record saying I'd have him up right now just to see if miracles can happen. But, he's a fun novelty. Would struggle to hit .170 in mlb, so I don't see any future.
  17. As mentioned before, you can always trade Suzuki and bring him back next year. It doesn't have to be either/or.
  18. Ryan and Mollie are tied at the hip, at least for 1 more year. I don't know why some in here are giving them separate parameters. Ryan is not going to fire a local HOF legend like Mollie after 2 years. A new GM from outside the organization isn't going to keep Mollie around. Now, I guess if the new GM is promoted from within that could be a situation where 1 stays and one goes. But, that would be a meaningless change.
  19. Has Kepler passed Mauer in RBI yet?
  20. I'd consider all 3 of these guys as fringe mlb players right now and beyond. So, I'd say it's a problem in semantics only.
  21. Ok I misunderstood Tonkin's service time. I took bbrefs 1.005 as a running tally, didn't realize that was entering the season. So yes, he will not be a super 2.
  22. I disagree. Every position player can pan out, but you still need starting pitching. Outside of acquiring some legit front end starters, which isn't going to happen, the rotation is going to continue to be the worst in baseball for a couple more years until Jay, Gonsalves, Stewart, etc get here and get their feet wet. Outside of Berrios, I don't have faith in any of these guys being better than a 4 or 5. I think May could be a fringe 2 or good 3, but it's become clear that he'll likely never start again as long as the current regime is in charge. If we clean house, all bets are off, but if Ryan and Mollie stay, I think 3 years is as optimistic as I can get.
