  1. The term "buddy" was straight from the mouth of Pineda, in his original statement.
  2. If you were to go back and review Channing's posting history regarding Falvey, I think you'd understand Brock's lack of patience. Channing has posted, multiple times, and without sarcasm, that he thinks Falvey is covertly operating under the employment of the Indians, intentionally tanking the Twins in order to benefit Cleveland. If a poster has that view of Falvey, I don't think some pushback is to be unexpected.
  3. He still had a motivation to decide not to call the team trainers and say is this safe to take? He still had a motivation to decide not to go to the team trainers for a weight loss plan once he arrived in Spring Training. Again, these are things he knows. So, he made a conscious decision to not consult team trainers. He had some motivation for making that decision. It may not matter to you, that's fine, to some of us it does. I'm tired of all these players claiming it was some innocent mistake, or they didn't know what they were taking, or whatever. Just be a man and step up and admit your mistake. I would respect that. The excuses I can't respect.
  4. If Pineda wants the benefit of the doubt that the arbitrators found evidence that he wasn't masking, rather than reducing the suspension based on a procedural technicality, then he can release the transcripts of the appeal hearing. If he doesn't want to do that, fine that's his right, but that means he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt from me. Until he does, a procedural technicality is equally as likely as evidence that he wasn't masking to me. I mean, explain to me how you prove a negative (I didn't take PED's) in the first place? You can't, it's not possible. You can fail to prove he did, but it's impossible to prove he didn't.
  5. But what is his motive for not going to the team trainers if he legitimately just wanted to lose weight? That's what I can't get past. And it's not just "stupidity". He knows the team has professional trainers. He knows the trainers can clear any supplements. Those are two things he knows. He doesn't need any intelligence to know those two things. So, knowing those two things, what is his motivation for going to a "buddy" rather than the team trainers?
  6. I don't think stupidity alone can explain why he would take something that can only be attained by prescription, illegally, or from a foreign country, without running it by the trainers. These players are explicitly told that they can run anything by the training staff to find out if it's ok to take. Again, I think it's very important to restate that they are explicitly told this. It's not some implicit procedure that the team just hopes the players are smart enough to figure out, they are told. Stupidity alone doesn't explain why he wouldn't run this past the training staff if he was, in his mind, taking it for legitimate purposes. IMO, he doesn't run it past the training staff because he either already knows, or doesn't want to know, that it's banned.
  7. Sean Poppen is eligible to come off the 60 day IL on 9/30.
  8. Congratulations. Keeping a happy marriage takes a lot of work from both sides, it doesn't come easy or naturally. That said, it works if both are committed to putting in the work. My wife and I have been together 20 years, and I'll tell you that there is nothing better than having a partner you can trust and count on. I can't imagine trying to make it through this crazy world without that support. Good luck to you and your spouse!
  9. He can play in the postseason. He was in the organization before 9/1. The league petition is a rubber stamp process, so long as you have an eligible injured player to replace, which the Twins do.
  10. Unless they release the evidence that was presented, which they won't, we don't know why his suspension was reduced. For all we know it could have been because of a technicality in the process. It just doesn't make any logical sense to take this substance for any other reason than to mask something else. If Pineda legitimately wants to try to lose weight, he goes to the team trainers. He doesn't go get something that's not even available OTC in America from a "buddy", and then doesn't even have the team trainers check out what he's taking. It's not like this policy is brand new and you can say perhaps he just forgot that everything needs to be checked for compliance. This just isn't by any stretch of the imagination a legitimate way for a professional athlete to try to lose weight in 2019, sorry, not buying it.
  11. They both got into the game today. They aren't going to carry someone who will literally not play once.
  12. Of course he's here to play. Depth for what? AAA season is over. MLB teams don't carry "depth" players that literally never play, like NBA teams do.
  13. I don't believe I've seen any posters say that they don't want him back on moral grounds. I have seen some posters who seem to suggest they don't want him back because he torpedoed his teammates shot at winning a world series title. Which wasn't the case when Polanco got popped.
  14. 2009 was Brad Childress. Spielman was here then, but he wasn't in charge of personnel decisions until after Childress was fired. I don't think the 2017 team would many titles in 100 simulations. It's really hard to win a SB with a guy like Case Keenum. It's happened before, Trent Dilfer comes to mind, but it doesn't happen often. I get what you are saying, but how many years are you willing to throw away hoping that eventually a Fletcher or a Spielman does win a championship? At some point you have to decide that a guy is good at building for the regular season, but not for the postseason. And I don't believe the postseason is just a smaller sample size of the same thing. Honest question, not rhetorical, how long do you give Spielman before it's no longer just bad luck or randomness? What if they're a .500 team again this year? That 2017 team starts to look an awful lot like the outlier if they go 7-9 or 8-8 this year.
  15. I assumed you didn't. Most people don't know the origin. I used it as well before I did. Growing up everyone just used it all the time and you never really thought about it. I deleted my post quoting you as well.
  16. Sure it can get worse. But it can also get better. Each fan is entitled to their own level of enjoyment. I know some just want quality competitiveness game in, game out, and anything beyond that is just a bonus. That's fine, but I don't share that view. The Vikings have never won a Super Bowl. They've never even been to one in my lifetime. And I'm not that young. Going 10-6 or 13-3 and winning 0 or 1 playoff games does absolutely nothing for me. The Wild finishing with 90+ points and a first round playoff loss every year did absolutely nothing for me. The Twins winning 6 divisions in the 00's, but getting swept out of the playoffs every year did absolutely nothing for me. There is almost no difference to me between those outcomes, and being the worst team in the league. They all end the same either way. For me, the regular season is just prelims. It's just seeding for the games that actually matter. Again, I realize many disagree. I've had this discussion here before, and I'm in the minority. And that's fine. I don't think the opposing view is wrong, and I don't disparage it. The regular season just does very little for me, that's all. So while they could do worse than Spielman, it'd make very little difference to me. But at least they'd have a shot at doing better. I agree that Spielman does pretty well with personnel, aside from the offensive line. I think his biggest mistake has been hitching his fate to Zimmer, who IMO is a great defensive coach, but has a mediocre ceiling as a head coach.
  17. Hate and vitriol? What are you referencing? There certainly isn't any of that in this article or thread, so if you're referencing a different thread, I'd like to know which one.
  18. I believe Weil actually has two more seasons after this one before he would become a minor league FA.
  19. Yeah, some people locally talk about Zimmer as if he's among the great head coaches in the league. I don't get it at all.
  20. I mean, any team can sweep any other team, because baseball. But come on, it's pretty unlikely the Twins are getting swept. The Twins are the better team, and they are an elite road team. I see no reason not to expect to win 2 of 3.
  21. Every GM has good draft picks and FA signings, even the bad ones have their share of hits. Bottom line is that his teams have won a grand total of one playoff game.
  22. The Twins are a much better team on the road than at home though.
  23. Yep. The minor league coverage at Twins Daily is by far the best in this market. Thanks for all your hard work and keep up the great work guys.
  24. All charges against Castillo have been dismissed.
