  1. Littell is already eligible for the postseason roster, as he's on the 40 man roster.
  2. It's not insurmountable. It's just completely unprecedented, both from the organization historically, and this front office. I'm not saying they won't find a way to make some astute signings again. But to sign 3 free agent pitchers to long term, big money contracts, including one as good as or better than Berrios? That takes a total leap of faith to see that actually happening.
  3. I've never wavered in my support of Buxton. Even at his very lowest points, when it seemed most had turned, or at least tempered their expectations, I never wavered once. But man, he just simply cannot manage to stay on the field. He couldn't even manage one rehab game without getting hurt. Whether it's bad luck, poor awareness, or a lack of durability, some athletes just never manage to stay on the field. Hopefully Buxton isn't one of them, but at this point I'm not particularly hopeful.
  4. Astudillo was frequently in the dugout during games while he was on the IL this season. I don't believe there is any rule regarding who can or can't be in a team's dugout.
  5. I didn't say I wouldn't pinch run for him. Just not with Adrianza. He's not enough of a difference to be worth the risk of taking Sano out of a tie game. Again, Adrianza isn't fast. I know the perception is middle infielder = fast, but in this case it doesn't. How often will Adrianza score on a ball that Sano wouldn't? Maybe 1 in 100? This isn't a tortoise versus hare situation, it's tortoise versus another tortoise.
  6. I'm not taking Sano out of a tie game for someone who is only marginally faster than him. Adrianza is not fleet of foot. If he has value on the playoff roster, it's as a defensive replacement.
  7. I think there is a difference between saying a trade/ non trade looks good so far, and declaring that it's a win or loss no matter how it turns out mid and long term.
  8. I'm just saying that trades and free agency are two sided transactions. They also had money and prospect capital this season, and for whatever reason, couldn't or wouldn't use it, outside of Romo and Dyson. I'm not ripping them for passing on Kimbrel and Kuechel, and not trading for Stroman or Grienke. Simply saying that having money and prospect capital is no guarantee that deals will get done. Obviously the team will enter 2020 with 5 starting pitchers on the active roster, but it's too soon to assume they'll be good core pieces that would fit the definition of being set up for sustained success. I agree that the offense is pretty much there. But the 2020 pitching staff is wide open. Berrios is a nice piece to have, but for whatever reason, he hasn't been able to take that next step. You're right that he's young enough there is still hope he will, but it's also possible that this is who he will be- a solid #2. If they can work out a deal with Odor, that makes for a solid #2 & #3, but that still leaves 3 spots open. If they bring in two mediocre thirty somethings, and let Smeltzer, Littell and Thorpe battle it out for the fifth spot, I won't consider that set up for sustained success.
  9. Weren't Blake Parker and Addison Reed their pick ups? What evidence do you have to suggest they have a hard time parting with their pick ups?
  10. Sure but you have to actually trade those prospects for a big time arm, or sign one or two. Just having the resources to do so is only step one. I think it's fair to want to see how they address the pitching staff before we decide if they're set up for sustained success yet or not.
  11. If the Twins recent history is any indication, they DEFINITELY won't need a 4th starter.
  12. In that case, wouldn't the poster he responded to also have to wait until Opening Day to say they're set up for maintained success?
  13. When I said it didn't matter what was driving his babip, i meant as it related to the fact that it will regress. You're right that skill can contribute to a higher than average babip, but nobody (except Ty Cobb) has enough skill to maintain his current babip. Regardless of what's driving it, it's going to regress. How much of it is skill will determine if it regresses to .330 or .300, but either way it will regress.
  14. It doesn't have to be luck to be unsustainable. Regardless of what is driving his high babip, he's not Ty Cobb, it's going to regress.
  15. Graterol does need to be added to the 40 man this offseason. He signed in 2015.
  16. He doesn't need to be on the active roster to be eligible for the postseason roster. He just needs to be on the 40 man roster by 8/31. Theoretically, they could add him to the 40 man roster on 8/31, then call him up in September, and he'd still be eligible.
  17. I wouldn't be so sure about that. His OPS is down to .793 now. If he continues to struggle the rest of the year, they might be able to match his production for the league minimum.
  18. I apologize if I misunderstood you. You're comments seemed to attempt to speak to more than just a one game sample size. I would think one would need to see more than one appearance to make the type of claims you were making about him.
  19. Do you really want to play the "character" card between Puckett and Killabrew? Because even as a huge Puckett fan, we're going to lose that one in embarrassing fashion.
  20. Oops. I looked up Puckett, and somehow thought it said 138 OPS+. I'm still scratching my head struggling to understand how I saw that. In that light, Killer was probably the better player. Though I think position and defense makes it much closer than you opine. 1991 meant so much to me though, emotionally, that it'll always be Puckett to me.
  21. I couldn't find a specific salary for Falvey and Levine. But a few sources claim that most GM's make between 500k and 2 million per year. 500k per year puts you in the top half of the top 1%. So yeah, defintely the big bucks.
  22. I think he'll make a good replacement for Adrianza. If they don't trade him.
