  1. I don't have a problem with an every other year strategy of quality/quantity.
  2. 57 wins is a .352 winning %. 100 wins is a .617 winning %. That is a massive difference.
  3. I'm not worried about ever getting burned by Stewart. His upside, IMO is 5th starter on a bad team/ AAAA depth. I'd love to be wrong.
  4. I don't care if it's outside the strike zone, that is right in a lefties wheelhouse. Romine didn't hit a pitch he wasn't supposed to, lefties love the ball in that spot from a righty pitcher.
  5. Yep, I don't get that either. It's a business. Loyalty should be dependent on the quality of the product. Nobody is going to call me bandwagon if I stop going to a restaurant that continually serves me awful food. Nobody is going to call me bandwagon if I stop buying a specific make of vehicle because it's given me problems constantly. Why are sports different? Never understand that. I owe no loyalty to a business that isn't consistently giving me a quality product.
  6. By what metric does DanSan play very good of defense?
  7. And still waiting for the ice cold bats to come around. Hopefully this is just SSS noise, because this could be a long season if the hitters are going to be this much worse than expected.
  8. I don't know where you heard that, so Miller could be wrong, but Phil Miller said in his blog that Santana won't throw over 100 pitches EVERY. That's pretty odd if true.
  9. Yes, when something is important you are more careful. When my kids were newborns, I was more cautious and aware when carrying them. I drove more cautiously when they were in the car. It's pretty common, I would imagine. It didn't take very much self discipline at all, just a small amount of awareness. Most athletes are in team sports with guaranteed money. I'd imagine you see less of these weird injuries in sports where the money isn't guaranteed if you get hurt.
  10. Good for Sergio. I know he comes off as a jerk sometimes, and he's not my personal favorite, but you could tell this win meant the world to him. That deep personal joy of winning is one of the things that makes sports so enjoyable to watch.
  11. Well the target is generally 2 out of 3 strikes (66%). So it's not like 62% is awful.
  12. Well it's still very early, but the hitters are still not hitting very well. Only 5 games so far, but only 3 of our regulars have an OPS+ of 100 or more (Sano, Polanco, Castro). Escobar and Gimenez have been good off the bench. The other 6 regulars are still struggling at the plate.
  13. I think the relevance is that I would think you would be extra careful in the days leading up to the Masters. Maybe not, though. I know I would, but maybe these guys just take it for granted. Everyone keeps saying that obviously this can happen easily with socks on hardwood, but if it's that obvious, why would you wear socks on hardwood the day before a potential 8 figure payday? Either way, it's silly to speculate. He didn't hurt anyone but himself, so who cares. I just found it to be an odd story.
  14. I agree it's probably not cool to speculate about stuff like that, (but here I go anyway) but how does an athlete in their prime fall down the stairs the night before a potential multi million dollar payday? With a little practice, stairs are fairly easy to manage if you are careful.
  15. Not necessarily. The other division winner would have home ice advantage over us regardless of record, I believe.
  16. I'm fine with the move. It's probably a good move even. But, "just 24" is not young in the least when you are talking about a guy going to A ball.
  17. Perhaps because some of us think that Polanco should play every day (if healthy) at this stage in his development?
  18. Jose Berrios surpassed his rookie eligibility last season, and is not eligible for rookie of the year this year.
  19. Brock, you are probably right, as that is a tough spot for most hitters. But shouldn't we be looking at Mauer's heat map, and not Miggy's?
  20. I like the lineup, I'm just not sure this is the game to start pimping it. Obviously saying that KC decided to stop throwing strikes was hyperbole. I'm sure they were trying. But it doesn't take much "patience" for a professional baseball player to lay off pitches that are 15 inches out of the strike zone. Getting a gift like that KC meltdown isn't a sustainable thing. I'd feel better about their long term potential if they had been hitting the ball hard all day with worse results.
  21. Let's not get carried away. Outside of Sano's home run, they didn't hit the ball very hard. In fact, their bats were pretty pathetic yesterday. KC just suddenly decided to stop throwing the ball anywhere close to the strike zone. The Twins don't have to apologize for that, but it had nothing to do with the batting order, or the Twins hitting well.
  22. I don't understand why Castro would bat that high. Isn't he really awful against lefties?
  23. Title gave it away. Souhan wouldn't be breaking this news. One of the beat writers would have.
  24. Won't those same 40 man decisions still exist in two weeks?
