  1. Isn't the solution to that to build another factory? I mean Wal-Mart didn't just open one store then turn the rest of the customer base away. Only a company that hates profit would do that. I think its more likely a case of cheapness, with "production capacity" being a convenient excuse.
  2. I would be opposed to selling on Buxton. I still think he will be a superstar. I realize that looks like a long shot after how his offensive career started, but nonetheless, I still believe he'll be an mvp caliber player.
  3. No, it wouldn't be libel. For one, the statement has to be clearly claimed as fact, not as an opinion or framed as a question. So, it's already not libel on that count. Second, there has to be proof of ACTUAL damages inflicted. A columnist writing something like that would not inflict any actual damages. And certainly not any that could be proven.
  4. Monitor doesn't use guys as LOOGY, so I'm not sure this guys splits are all that important.
  5. Depends how good their changeup is. Guys with a good enough changeup to be their out pitch (Hoffman, Johan) consistently put up reverse splits. This Cotton guy probably doesn't have a changeup like those guys though, but I haven't seen him pitch so I don't know.
  6. Do you have a link for that Gonsalves info? Im not saying it's not true, but I remember the story being that he refused to rat on his friends, not of him smoking or drinking.
  7. Nope. Making a claim doesn't affect your waiver position.
  8. What do you mean by gave up their waiver spot?
  9. Well I said late June. You said July or August. The date is June 27th. Let's just say one of us was more right then the other.
  10. Yes. This, big time. Also, who isn't ready to take those starts now that magically will be ready in 1 to 2 turns off the rotation? I think the people saying Berrios isn't ready now, but don't worry he'll be up soon, overestimate how much development can happen in 1 or 2 or 3 starts. If Berrios truly isn't ready now, then nobody can say for sure that he ever will be. And if he suddenly is ready 1 or 2 or 3 starts from now, then IMO he was just as ready now.
  11. If Berrios is ready if there is a double header, then why isn't he ready if there isn't one?
  12. I'm saying I don't see enough to justify paying full price. Obviously anything can happen in FA, but its pretty likely that if he was willing to sign an extension he'd also be willing to come back in FA if we match any offer.
  13. June 27th will pass and poof! Command fixed!
  14. Sorry but there is nothing they can see from Berrios that will guarantee he never has to be sent down again.
  15. Ok. Which stats will matter? Because right now his alleged poor command isn't showing up in any of them. His k rate is good. BB rate is fine. Pitch counts are good. Strike to ball rate is good.
  16. And if he's willing to sign an extension at full price then he'd also be willing to sign as a FA at full price. Therefore, I don't understand how you are mitigating the risk of him leaving by offering a full price extension. When you approach him about a full price extension, he's either interested in staying in MN, or he's not. Approaching him about a full price extension only keeps him in the scenario where he's open to staying- so you haven't gained anything. In that scenario he's open to staying via FA as well. The scenario where he's not open to staying, you lose him whether you approach him or not. The only alternate scenario I can think of is where he was open to staying, but then gets bitter that he wasn't offered an extension so he changes his mind. Dozier doesn't seem like the petty, bitter type of guy, so I'd place small odds on that scenario.
  17. Will the AAA stats still not matter if he puts up a 9.00 ERA over his next 4 starts? I have a funny feeling that if the stats were bad they would suddenly matter.
  18. If he's willing to sign with another team for same or less money, then why would he be open to an extension?
  19. But if you are not getting a discount, then why extend? With no discount the team takes ALL the risk. If no discount, just sign him when he hits FA for the same price.
  20. I think it's late June, without looking it up again. At this point, that is only about 5 or 6 weeks away.
  21. I predict Berrios will magically fix his lousy command as soon as the date passes which gives us another season of team control.
  22. I guess I'm just not seeing whatever you are seeing that you'd want him on a MLB team at this point. I know he had some good ERA's in the past, but I just don't think they mean much with such pathetic k rates.
