  1. Santiago made his rehab start last night, he should be ready to pitch as soon as Monday, and go 75-80 pitches.
  2. Tuch isn't close to the player that Dumba is. I get that it seems like a lot to give up just to keep your own player, but I think it was a great move. We thought all along that the Wild were going to have to lose a really good player to the expansion draft. We managed to lose just an okay role player, and a solid but not great prospect instead. That is a huge win, IMO. If Dumba played for another team, and we traded Tuch and Haula for him, I would have viewed the trade as a big win. Finally, Chuck has plans to trade a top 4 defenseman to improve the roster. That wouldn't be possible if we had also lost a top 4 defenseman for nothing.
  3. Yeah, sad really. So much to lose, and so close to the end of house arrest, and he feels he has to have a drink. Obviously don't know him, but it appears he clearly has a problem. Hope he is able to get some help before it turns tragic.
  4. What is the rationale behind this? Dumba is better now, has more potential, and costs more (Vegas needs to get to the floor). And they are both 22 years old.
  5. Yep, I predict that Fletcher will regret letting Dumba go for nothing. Big mistake, IMO.
  6. We were discussing Rooker, not Javier. And, I was asking him where he's seeing that Rooker is going to Ft Myers after 2 weeks in ETown.
  7. That isn't very good for a corner OF though. He's on pace to put up 0.5 bWAR this year. I agree that Granite likely isn't the answer, but I don't agree that Rosario is an effective hitter.
  8. To me, the Twins are cheap if they don't go over the 5% they are allowed to. And so are any other teams that don't.
  9. I downloaded the official rulebook of mlb, and there was no mention of this disabled list process. If you could direct me to the section that covers this, I will check again, but I've read it twice and don't see it anywhere in there. I also did some Google research, and there was no mention of any process even remotely similar to that, except for the new 7 day concussion DL, which must be signed off by the league medical office. Aside from that instance though, it appears that there is no such process, so long as the player doesn't dispute it. That is as I expected, since we've all seen numerous phantom dl stints.
  10. I'll be disappointed if he starts anywhere below high A.
  11. Rosario might get a fringe 5th starter, a Tommy Milone/Mike Pelfrey. That's about it though.
  12. Do you have a link to something that shows this process? That seems like a lot of work, considering I've seen dl announcements as soon as 20 minutes after a game. If that process does exist, I'd guess those doctors are just rubber stamping everything. There is no way 3 separate doctors are giving legit exams within 20 minutes.
  13. Despite being skeptical at first, I think I really like it too. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is Lewis at 1:1, but he does have some really good tools, and is very young. The ball is in the development staffs hands now.
  14. Perhaps because a run prevented carries just as much weight as a run scored? Buxton is an elite defensive player. He wins games with his glove. And, we get to freeroll his bat coming around, which I still believe will.
  15. He seems likes a really smart, self aware guy. That should help him along his journey to the mlb. I admit, I was a bit skeptical of the pick, given his age and position limitations, but I'm starting to get excited to follow this guy.
  16. Good. Lewis wouldn't have been my first choice, but I'd much rather have him than McKay.
  17. Lewis isn't going to be a SS in MLB though, so I wouldn't look at our SS depth. I'm not sure why the Twins are saying he can stay at SS, perhaps he likes it and they promised to give it a shot, but I think it's pretty much unanimous every where else that he has no chance to stick at SS.
  18. Well yeah, that looks likely. But, the question is, were they right to not be impressed by him? Time will tell.
  19. To me #1 is inexcusable. They had the 1st pick, they should know exactly what the bonus is going to be before the pick is made. If Boras won't play, if he says the only way to know what we'll sign for is to pick us and find out - then you pass, unless you have him head and shoulders above everyone else on your board.
  20. Well I guess I'll just have to trust that the Twins saw something in him that almost nobody else did. The thing is, if you overreach and overpay banking on seeing something nobody else does... you better be right. I'll be keeping an eye on this kid for sure. I wish him the best of luck.
  21. Fair enough. I'd rather put all my eggs in a basket like Greene or Carlson rather than a bunch of long shots. The stock market can be risky too, but I'd still rather chance all my money on that rather than spread it out with a bunch of power ball tickets. Like I said though, the great thing is that we'll eventually get to see the results.
  22. I don't think anyone seriously thinks they are not going to spend their slot pool. The comments suggesting they won't are pretty clear snark. The question is, will any of the players that they spend that savings on make a significant impact? The later in the draft they wait, the less likely it becomes that those guys make it.
  23. I would hope he'd be way under slot given his predraft ranking. Splitting the difference between where he went and where he was ranked puts him at about #69. What is the the slot for that pick?
