    You make it sound so.... so dirty. As another commenter has said, the greatest value of this year is to find out what they have. The Twins' fate of Martin, Wallner, SWR, and Lewis among others is being decided. I've always liked Martin. He has that "intangible" that can't be measured by stats. I hope he ends up being at least a 4th outfielder.

    One game things look so bleak I wonder if the Twins will ever win another game. Next game they might still be playoff contenders. Shelton has them incredibly scrappy and resilient. Banda looks really good. But last time I said that about Taylor Rogers he immediately went in the tank - so never mind.

    The Twins will trade Ryan because they are in the subgroup of ML teams that are AAAA development teams for the rest of the league.

    If the Pirates are smart, they'll do everything they can to patch things up with Mlodzinski and hang on to him. The Twins are exhibit A of how quickly pitching can fall apart just when you think it's looking good.

    I have good reason to believe that LaTroy Hawkins and Grady Sizemore will get activated on the Twins roster by the end of the month.

    "For a Twins organization that values versatility and defensive flexibility" - how is what the Twins organization values working out for them?

    The Pohlads liquidate the entire franchise, and the only thing left is James Outman.

    The Twins being World Series contenders is almost as rare as a unicorn or a leprechaun. Fans have to be satisfied with watching young players develop - before they get shuffled off to other teams, or seeing future Hall of Famers like Judge or Trout come through town.

    That's a good point about Outman and Kreidler. They're paying a big price to carry guys like that who can't hit. And at least in Outman's case who's sole purpose is to back up Buxton - and then don't use them to back up Buxton. Not for the first time, it really makes you wonder if they know what they're doing.

    SWR hasn't been injured, so he's like a foreign substance that had to be expelled! Maybe they're clearing space for a big trade soon to come. Who knows.

    Long term - 3B Winokur, SS Houston, 2B Culpepper, 1B Lee. Lewis and Keaschall trade bait.

    What matters most IMO is how Lewis looks at the plate. If he's still tap dancing and lunging around up there, swinging at balls out of the zone, mystified by off speed pitches, or missing meatballs, it doesn't matter if he's "tearing it up".

    I think we're talking about 2 different things. Houston playing SS for the Twins is years down the road, if ever. I don't have a problem with Arcia getting more at bats. IMO they should sit Bell and his .216 average butt down for awhile as the DH. But they paid Bell and by god they're going to play Bell! The thing that holds Arcia back in the field is he's got the same problem as Lee - a step slow.

    If Culpepper and Houston eventually pan out to cover 3B and SS, I could see Lee crossing the diamond and moving to 1B - providing his bat continues to improve. It might be preferable to searching through dumpsters to find a first baseman every year.

    When they had Lopez, Ryan and Sonny Gray at the top of the rotation the Twins had the pitching foundation to really change their fortunes. But through rich contracts and injuries that kind of set up is usually going to be a flash in the pan for lower budget teams. Ryan probably already has his bags packed.

    As others have said, Lee has become great in the clutch. He has defensive limitations, but the 2 hitters I want up there with the game on the line are Lee or Martin.

    The excellence of the starting rotation seems sustainable barring more injuries. The bullpen will be better going forward with addition by subtraction. Hawkins is doing a great job. The x factor IMO is Lewis (I've kind of given up on Wallner). Add a big right handed bat in the line up to go with the pitching and they go above .500. For Lewis to reinvent himself at this point seems impossible - but this IS the season of the impossible!

    It'll be kind of ironic if Henry Mendez ends up being the ML stud and E-Rod and Jenkins spend the rest of their careers in the hospital. One never knows, does one.

    I don't like, nor will I ever like, Andrew Benintendi - can't explain it, but there I said it. I'm sure he's heartbroken over the matter. I hope he strikes out many, many times.

    I think Royce would be well advised to do everything he can to make it work with the Twins rather than jump to another org. He's been treated very well here. I was at the game recently where he had a particularly horrific error, failed to turn a routine double play, and allowed a run to score. I don't think I heard a single "boo" from the fans. If he was playing for the Yankees for example, they would have booed him right out of the stadium. The fans here want to get behind him again - and hopefully it happens this summer.

    As far as Lewis playing 1B, with his leg history I don't think I want him making those stretches for throws over there. It won't be pretty.

    I know we're not supposed to talk about Royce Lewis here, but I'm going to do it anyway. If the guy gets going, it could transform the season. How can a guy go from missing meatball fastballs (and everything else) in the Twins lineup to immediately hitting bombs for the Saints? I don't get it.

    That was a heckuva slide by Larnach - one of the best I've seen in a while. Maybe he should teach Contreras how to slide into home.
