  1. And what closer can they get besides using Jax in the bullpen again and sacrificing starting pitching. That and only 3 mil for a solid "closer" is a bargain. Just move Jax to starting rotation and have Stewart as a setup guy. Move on from theilbar.
  2. Offload some of the players dragging down the team. I say re-sign most arbitration players but trade those who are not contributing. If they never signed Correa then they'd have more flexibility.
  3. A shout out to the Lynx who are competing for a title now, I love MN sports! There would have been more attendance if the owners hadn't cut so much from the payroll. When fans hear that they lose hope.
  4. My fondest memories are from the 90s Twins. Being a little league player I just thought I'd try to be a Kirby Pucket. I then played for years as a pitcher (all star a few times). I love MN sports.
  5. They should have waited to find out what the owners of the Wolves/Lynx were doing before they made this choice. If the Wolves create a provider similar to YES or other team owned broadcasting, they should work with them to get more money.
  6. With the new TV deal the Twins should see a return by the following season. Will the Pohlands choose to pay up is the real question. They made the right move to move on from BSN. The Timberwolves and Lynx are in their final seasons under BSN.
  7. There's no way I'd trade Jax, unless it's for a premium starting pitcher. He'd be more useful moving to the starring lineup and with Brock Stewart and Justin Topa presumably in next year's relief pitching rotation it's a no brainer. Many good pitchers right now are coming off relief pitching.
  8. They need better coaching, period! They have plenty of talent already. Find older guys who can play cheap (like Santana) and re-sign the arbitration players (most). Trade who's currently expendable.
  9. They need some new veteran bats. So hopefully Falvey is already working on that. Look at what the Royals did. I think foremost is bringing in some good hitting and base running coaches. Maybe replace Maki.
  10. Their payroll was the highest last year so their new payroll was probably still much higher than the Twins. They still got their good pitchers but picked up young stars in the process.
  11. I believe the team just lost all hope after the all-star break, and the non-buying at the trade deadline. Yes the players pay attention to the news, and we were the ONLY real non buyers at the deadline. Especially within the contending teams. If the owners don't want to spend then they need to sell or find a part owner who is willing to take the team to the next level. Then the seats will fill up again, if you spend it they will come!
  12. I'd say Jeffers had the worst impact on the game. If he just took his helmet off he may have made that catch. Then no extra innings. 4-3 win. It didn't help that The base running just wasted opportunities. I think no one was really "in" the game.
  13. With the Twins need of a starter I think Jax will be in the starter roll next year and Varland in the roll Jax has been in this year. Jax sub 3 era next year!
  14. If Lewis, Jeffers, and the rest of the guys who've been struggling can come up with some clutch hitting like last night then they can. There's no room for error. Remember last years World Series winner Rangers were in the exact same spot the Twins are in now. So who knows!?
  15. It's true, you need star players doing star things to "fill the seats" yet the pohlands just expected it after cutting tens of millions off the payroll, and didn't make any moves at the deadline except Trevor Richards who was terrible. I think the moral around the team just died, as well as any hope to get back to the ALDS.
  16. If only they had guys who can stay on the field, or at least most of the time. They'd be in contention.
  17. They just need to take everything that Baldelli and Popkins are trying to coach them, but do the opposite. I think they'll be okay and probably get back on track.
  18. It's time to get out of the Balley Sports broke as a joke broadcasting. If the Timberwolves and Lynx can figure out a new broadcasting network it's time to jump on board with them. It could be lucrative and good for player retention.
  19. I think the game today will decide their fate. Win and still got a chance, lose and outside looking in for rest of season. They had what it takes pre-all star break, now they are mediocre.
  20. He's going to be a starter at some point, weither or not the Twins use him or trade him off for a useless player, while he goes off and wins a World Series with another team. He's good now, but could be great in a few years.
  21. It's due to bad plate discipline, a lack of protecting the strike zone, swinging at borderline pitches and missing center cut fastballs. And also the use of relievers, Baldelli can't just make a consistent bullpen (most nights), instead he throws in the highest ERA relievers to give up the game, which lately has been 6 or more runs before thinking about changing pitchers. They ONLY need to face 3 minimum!
  22. Send Alcala back to St.Paul. Activate Winder, or Okert. Stop messing around with Alcala, he can't stop giving up HRs.
  23. If he can get hot again it'll be great, it seems like all season once a player gets hot the coach benches them a few then they go cold. I would have kept Martin around and put Helman back to St. Paul. Martin has been good when he gets on base.
  24. I think he should be replaced. He will send a runner from 2nd home while a ball is hit directly at an outfielder. He's supposed to stop them if he sees something. But he just sends them into the fray. Usually ending up costing them additional runs.
