  1. This is absolutely true. And another reason why Rocco and Falvey should be fired. But anyone that criticized adding Bader because Keirsey could fill that role was begging for 100 losses. Which, turns out, they might achieve anyways.
  2. I don't have any hope this team turns it around, so my only rooting interest is now the attendance and seeing how low it can go. Side Note: Twins have already lost more games to the White Sox this season than last.
  3. They've also been an average of 87 win team over the last 5 seasons (including this season's pace). I don't think any of the fans selling out their home games are concerned with their payroll obligations in three season while they're looking like the best team in the league right now. I repeat, no objective baseball fan would prefer to cheer for the Twins over the Padres in this moment. To point to them as some poorly managed franchise is just asinine. Edit: I'll add, Boegarts is the one contract I was referring to that is just plain bad. The Machado contract can become bad in time, but for now it's fine. But the Musgrove, Darvish, and Cronenworth contracts are all fine. Nothing prohibitive. The Darvish one might even look great in one more year.
  4. Is this tracked somewhere? Or did you just do some napkin math?
  5. I don't agree at all. For example, Jackson Merrill was the 27th selection in the draft. Their turnaround is more so because their owner decided he was wealthy and didn't care to use the franchise as an investment tool. And you can argue this revelation is because he was sick and is sadly no longer with us, but he's now revered in San Diego, in stark contrast to the Pohlads. I can assure you no objective baseball fan would prefer to cheer for the Twins over the Padres. And this idea you're suggesting, as if they're in a last year of a window is just not reality. The Padres only have one bad contract on their books. Their future looks much brighter than the Twins if we're being honest. And part of the reason for that is the team went for it, and fans rewarded them and are throwing money at the organization. They are one of 3 teams you can say are great, today. This is just a foolish thing to say about a team with Jackson Merrill (22) and Fernando Tatis (26). Teams would kill for a core like that to build around.
  6. Yeah. It's a complete lost year because they organization is basically without leadership. The only reason Rocco and the entire Front Office wasn't fired after last season is because they figured they'd just allow new ownership to come in and put their people in place. But now that the sale is delayed, and no longer imminent, this organization is basically circling the drain. Until the team is sold there's no reason for any sort of optimism in Twins Territory. Attendance will be it's lowest since the Bill Clinton administration, and rightfully so.
  7. You don't want to bring in any veterans...what else am I supposed to take away from that?
  8. I'm glad we agree on sentence #3. But as for hiring veterans, you're just flat out wrong dude. If you truly believe a team should be able to develop all 40 players on the roster, you'll always, and I mean always, be disappointed.
  9. Don't forget San Diego. The Padres are arguably the best team in the league. It's a very comparable market as well.
  10. I think we're also under selling just how much some of the smaller markets troubles come down to incompetence. Minnesota. Pittsburgh. These are not well run organizations. There are comparable markets that are earning good money and fielding competitive teams, and not due to luck or miracles. This idea that mlb is an unfair environment in which no one can compete with the Dodgers just isn't reality. Though I do agree that it has gotten worse and further revenue sharing, at a minimum, is needed.
  11. Teams aren't getting a salary cap without giving up half of their 6 years of control. If you're going to artificially suppress player salaries in free agency, why would the players be ok with 6 years of salary suppression leading into it?
  12. Nah, this fear is way overblown. The United States government illegally detaining/deporting latinos is a way bigger threat to the league than a labor agreement.
  13. This doesn't seem at all fair. The Twins aren't failing to develop players because Harrison Bader is on the roster. They're failing to develop players because their scouting and/or coaching are bad. It's completely independent of one year veteran contracts. Austin Martin wasn't a terrible player last season because Kyle Farmer was on the team. Trevor Larnach isn't a career 100 OPS+ guy because Harrison Bader is rostered. Jose Miranda doesn't have a 100 career OPS+ because Donovan Solano was on the 2023 team. Teams hire veterans to fill out rosters, and any team that wants to actually win SHOULD. This isn't some cause for pitchforks to the Twins Front Office, and this is coming from a guy that wants to fire them all.
  14. I think you're reading into this point too much. No one's saying to ignore the 12 wins. But it is important context to the actual quality of the 2024 Twins season. Yes, the Twins DID have a good stretch in the middle of the season. But anyone that was truly paying attention also knew that it was largely a mirage. Like that 12 game win streak? 7 were against the White Sox. All this to say the 2024 Twins were pretty bad. And the 2025 are, unsurprisingly, worse.
  15. This is incredibly disingenuous, as the Yankees would only have 67 losses with those 83 wins. A darn good record still. The Dodgers would likewise be 85-61... Now how does that Twins 70-79 record look ignoring the games against the White Sox last season? Or this season's 5-14?
  16. Not necessarily true. Baseball is uniquely situated to be presented well in vertical video format ie TikTok.
  17. I noticed Citi Field opened up two or more of the clubs this season that used to be "exclusive" to certain attendees. It makes the stadium feel more equitable and less like it's a playground for the wealthier population. A very small thing, but it makes the stadium that much more welcoming to the community.
  18. But we at least agree that complaining about moving around the lineup is just complaining for complaining sake?
  19. Alright. We agree then. It's fine that Rocco used 154 different lineups and not at all indicative of anything.
  20. In hindsight, it was a mistake to sign a player to a massive contract after two other organizations canceled an agreement due to health concerns. Only $129 Million left on that bad boy.
  21. Very, very interesting behind the curtain look about how thin skinned the Twins Organization seems to be. Hearing Aaron Gleeman gets calls from the team after a critical article is pathetic.
  22. But how on earth did they play up to their potential if they were constantly being shuffled in, out, and around the lineup? Based on your comment you don't think that should be possible. Excuses. Excuses.
  23. Is that why the Tigers with their incredibly young talent and 155 different lineups really struggled at the end of the season? Wait...hmmm...never mind. What I see with most of these players is just a mediocre player that is not confident because they don't quite have the talent to be anything more than a marginally above replacement level player. It's not because Rocco is unfair to them. I'm firmly on the Fire Rocco bandwagon, but blaming him for middling prospects coming up and playing exactly how we should expect is not why. And I don't really hate on Larnach or Miranda for being a marginal player. Players like them have roles in more complete teams, but Falvey has failed to build such a squad.
  24. This is repeated over and over on this site, and it always sounds like the lamest excuse. So-and-so keeps being played out of their natural position or moved around in the order, how are they supposed to get comfortable?! They're major league baseball players and most every major leaguer is expected to be flexible. Outside of the true STARS of the league and catchers, no major leaguer should feel like they get to play one position and/or have a set place in the lineup. And the Minnesota Twins have only one star, and he's actually playing like complete ****. My primary team, the Mets, had one of the most incredible seasons last year, in terms of team chemistry, entertainment, and vibes. They used 143 different lineups and had 11 players play multiple positions in the field. This isn't some great failing by Rocco. Now, you could try to make the argument that this sort of management has to be paired with a great leader that is able to strongly communicate both team and player goals and expectations, but that's an unknowable. He probably sucks at it, but we have no way of knowing outside of speculation.
