  1. bah, stuff+ is just that. I don't care about your stuff if you don't know how to pitch.
  2. A well managed bullpen can absolutely have a low leverage guy or two. But I think you and I are in agreement that the Twins are not well managed, particularly in the bullpen decisions.
  3. The thing with relievers is they're hard to evaluate due to the fact that the always pitch in small samples. FIP is far more indicative than ERA, and fWAR is derived from FIP as you know. MLB relievers don't hardly even look at their own ERA, they know it's basically worthless. They also don't really look at W-L. Saves and Holds, sure, but cause they know those mean money, not necessarily because they're measures of skill. WHIP, (x)FIP, WPA (w/LI). Everything else is noise.
  4. Prospect Rankings are basically just fun, silly exercises. Outside of THE top guys its mostly just hype. And I'm not even saying the top 3 here. Walker Jenkins is the only prospect anyone should actually expect true value from. The idea that the MLB #37 prospect with a K rate to match is for sure going to come up and be an impact player is obviously a ridiculous assertion. There's a very decent chance Eeles has a better career than Rodriguez. Which isn't to say I expect Rodriguez to fail, I'm just really tempering my expectations. Just compare Eeles to Austin Martin. Martin was the TwinsDaily #6 prospect last year. Why? The same age and and looks like the same defensive caliber. It wasn't that his performance in the minors was more impressive. You can make a very good argument that Eeles short time in the minors was far more impressive than anything Martin has showed. It's based purely on his high draft position and the fact that people WANTED him to be good because he was the main piece in a big trade.
  5. Biggest revelations becoming an adult were learning: 1. Your parents are just humans doing their best. And sadly, some humans aren't equipped to be parents (not mine thankfully). 2. Half of experts are just as big of idiots as the loud mouth loser at the small town bar, but they had a combination of good fortune, charisma, maybe good looks, confidence (or arrogance), and sometimes hundreds of millions of dollars (and often a job) from their successful daddy. I envy anyone dumb enough to think we live in a meritocracy.
  6. They could have non tendered him. That would have made him a free agent and they then could have tried to sign him to a lesser contract. Instead the Twins have exclusive control on him and they had the right to go into arbitration to claim he wasn't worth anything over the minimum. Unions are good.
  7. This is such a sad comment about a veteran MLB player. Sounds like it's about some college junior.
  8. With all his injuries, why don't the Twins simply quit the game and then reload the season?
  9. No. Last Spring Training it was reported that he and Castro had a bet who was going to steal more bases in the 2024 season, and then went on to have a combined 21 SB. Quite honestly, Twins fans should expect 10 SB from him and be happy with anything more than that. It's just really sad they're instead discussing the injury risk for a player to run fast.
  10. Sure. That's why I'm such a Bader defender, because of the 12 HR and not because of the totality of the player. Anyone even looking at AFL is just setting themselves up for disappointment. And as for AAA stats, Martin is arguably the 4th best option from AAA to play 2B last season. So why the hell do I care about Austin Martin? He's a junk player that is only hyped up because he was a first round draft pick and because he was the primary return in a big profile trade.
  11. He wasn't that valuable. The market deemed he was worth a reliever and a prospect. The big failure is Twins scouting completely whiffing on the prospect. Jose Iglesias was available until yesterday. Jorge just isn't special.
  12. Absolutely ridiculous. Outside of C, the burden of a position isn't meaningfully bringing down players hitting ability. It can allow a player to bulk up if they've moved off SS like ARod perhaps, but Martin isn't doing that. Austin Martin isn't suddenly going to add power because he's moved from CF to 2B.
  13. No. Martin is one of the worst OF in the league. Rocco comments in Spring Training don't change that.
  14. That trade was a nothing deal. A player of little value was dealt for a reliever of little value and a lemon of a top 100 prospect. It was a fine deal.
  15. Austin Martin was arguably even worse than Margot last season.
  16. If you're defining it post facto, Buxton. But that's a stupid thing to do. I will bet money that Bader is not the starting LF on opening day (bet is null if against a LHP).
  17. So, you'd rather dedicate two roster spots as a solution to the Twins OF problems (which are defense, Buxtons impending injury, and THEN LHP) instead of one? You understand there are really only 3 bench spots, right? 4 to play with if you wanna include a flexible DH. Who's ever led anyone to believe he's any good? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he could potentially be a league average defensive CF. Whereas the Twins current 4th OF is now, I'd argue, a better defensive CF than Buxton. Now, that doesn't mean Keirsey couldn't be be an acceptable 4th OF, more so with a dependable CF which the Twins do not have, but we also have no reason to believe he'd hit even as well as the player you said cannot hit, and you grant would not be of much value as a platoon partner for Larnach. Fun Fact: Bader his as many HR as Grichuk last season.
  18. LOL. Just fully baseless conjecture. And you constantly ignore the fact that Martin as played many, many innings in the OF. He wasn't just thrown into the OF despite how many times you suggest this is the case.
  19. Who knew allowing a hitter to hit would turn out with fantastic results? That's all I'm saying. I can assure you the Red Sox didn't coach Big Papi to hit for a higher average. And the Twins shouldn't try to teach Wallner to hit for higher average. There's also the syringe background of it all...
  20. Trying to turn a big lefty masher into a slappy all-fields hitter isn't exactly doing anyone any favors. Twins screwed the pooch with David Ortiz. Tom Kelly screwed the pooch with David Ortiz.
  21. I don't believe that's where his line will be with a more complete season under the belt. Nothing wrong with a 235/350/480 line, though his bad defense will limit his value. ZIPS similarly has him at 241/339/455, so I'm more optimistic on him than the premier projection model.
  22. That'd be further disservice to Wallner. I'm not his biggest supporter, but he has a very clear skillset and he does excel at it. Hitting for average should not try to be coached to him. That type of foolishness is why David Ortiz does not look fondly back at his time with the Minnesota Twins.
  23. I know it's boring, but you have to pick Ohtani for MVP. You simply must. It's like not picking LeBron at his peak just because you want to pick someone else. Even if Ohtani doesn't win the award, there's like a 50% chance he's, by far, the best player.
