  1. Who is this Ben Ross kid?! Definitely looking like a major break out year if he can keep it up. Good outing for Dasan Hill. All our young pitching prospects have the same profile it seems. Injury prone, hard throwers with nasty stuff but no command. I know it's becoming really common for young pitchers, but if our guys like Prelipp, Abel, Hill, Rojas, Soto, Bradley etc... can learn to harness their stuff and stay healthy, we should have some good young arms to build around.
  2. Both Lee and Wallner are close to automatic outs at the plate lately. Lewis doesn't look good either. I think Wallner and Lee could use a week or two in AAA. See what Roden and a new SS can do. If they want to wait on K Pepper, bring up Arcia. Isn't that why they signed him?
  3. I don't know why they don't just go dll the way to the electronic strike zone. Dll these abs challenges just slow down the game. Just get the call right the first time and keep the game moving.
  4. Outman has no business on the big league team and the longer he stays, the worse it looks...
  5. It's been fun to watch these wins but man, how long of a leash does Lee have? Bad fielding, lost at the plate. They even tried to have him bunt and he couldn't do that. I expect Gray to play today at least. Same with Outman unfortunately. If this team really wants to compete, I think Lee and Outman need to be sent down. Outman can be replaced by Roden. If we lose him to waivers, so what? Lee can be replaced by Arcia if they want Culpeper to get some more time in the minors
  6. He needs to be able to throw something other than the changeup to get outs. If it's not the fastball, maybe he can get a slider or curve working. I know it's early, but Over has me worried. Especially since there's nobody in AAA that looks ready for a call up
  7. Joe will be just fine. The defense as it is right now, will do him no favors
  8. Buck is one of the few reasons to watch the Twins this year. Hopefully he stays for his whole career. He could be a great mentor for the young outfielders coming up.
  9. Grey should be getting more reps at SS if Lee can't get it together. Culpeper will take over sometime this summer after they secure another year of service time. It is beyond obvious that Outman needs to go and give his spot to Roden. As someone said he can platoon with Martin in LF, pinch hit, pinch run, late game defensive sub. There are opportunities for him.
  10. Nice to dream, but all these guys are either injured or coming off Injuries:(
  11. Releasing Outman and calling up Roden would be a start. He probably clears waivers anyways if they want to keep him in AAA as depth. Give Lee another week or two of everyday playing time. If he doesn't show anything, send him down and call up Culpeper. Maybe that gives the team a little life?
  12. Zebby struggling to start the year does not bode well for the Twins starting rotation. Ober looking like he might be cooked, Abel not finding his control. All this is much worse when we have no legit arms ready to step up in St Paul...
  13. Twins should just sell off all our veterans at the deadline and get the best talent back that they can. Call up the next wave ala Jenkins, Rodriguez, Gonzalez and Culpeper. Fans will be more forgiving watching the team lose as long as the youth movement is underway building for the future. Much better than watching a bunch of slow veterans flailing away at the plate and booting balls all over the field .
  14. Outman needs to go. He would probably even clear waivers at this point. Bring up Roden. Then, if Wallner can't learn to hit by the end of April send him down for a reset and call up Rodriguez. Give Lee a month or two to figure it out. If he can't, give Culpeper a shot.
  15. Seems like the same issues we had last year. Starting pitchers inefficient. Early exits, overworked bullpen leading to lots of blow ups and losses. I can bet that our pen is going to be one big game of musical chairs throughout the year with lots of waiver claim type guys coming and going.
  16. At this point early on, Larnach looks locked in while Wallner looks completely lost at the plate. Not sure if Larnach can play RF opening up LF for Martin, but Wallner may need a reset in St. Paul. It worked last year anyways:). On the pitching side, I really worry about Ober. If he's only throwing 88-89 this early I don't think he's going to last. With Abel being a crapshoot and Zebby not looking good in AAA, I think they should really sign Giolito. That is if they really want to compete this year, which I'm not sure they really do....
  17. Seems our bullpen rebuild plan is just sign as many minor league guys as we can and see if any can stick as a serviceable big league arm. Would be nice if we'd swing a trade or something to get at least one legit MLB late inning arm. Relying on Sands, Topa and Rogers to consistently close games is pretty laughable...
  18. Keaschal and Buxton may be the only offensive guys worth watching in this lineup, unless Lewis keeps hitting. If the rest of the "old guard" ( Lee, Wallner, Larnach, Clemens)don't show much, I'd like to see them lose playing time to the new wave.( Rodriguez, Gonzalez, Jenkins and Culpeper. At least we have some bats to look forward too. Our pitching still needs work.
  19. Taj Bradley has some nasty stuff. When is the last time the Twins had a SP that could hot 100mph? If he can tighten up his control a bit, he could be a fun guy to watch this year. I know it's still the first series, but so far Lee has not looked good at all. He looks lost and can't seem to hold off breaking balls down in the zone. At the same time, Culpeper went 3-5 in game one and hit a 3 run HR in game two. If it continues like this I think you need to make a move. Call up Culpeper to start at SS and let Lee be the infield utility guy who can cover 2nd, SS and 3rd.
  20. Looks like Ryan, Buxton, Keaschal and any top prospect debuts will be some of the few reasons to watch this year. I'm worried game one will be an indication of the season. Poor situational hitting and a daily pounding off our bullpen guys:(
  21. I'd like to see Festa in the pen. We need some quality RH arms out there. If they are worried about SP depth they should sign Giolito. I'm sure this late in the spring he would agree to sign with us for pretty cheap. It would also signal to the fans that ownership does actually want to compete this year.
  22. I'm more excited about seeing the debut of some of our prospects this year. Rodriguez, Jenkins, Gonzalez, Culpeper. If these guys have success along with Keaschal and a rebound from one of Lewis or Lee, our lineup could be fun to watch. As far as pitching goes.....:(
  23. I'm just hoping to see the next wave of young talent get an extended run of playing time. I'm anticipating another sell off at the deadline and I hope we do well with the players we get back, and not acquire more redundant players or positions like LH outfielders!
