As Stated to Sixel.. no way they trade him for secondary pieces. Cohen will sign him this offseason...

Why would they trade him for secondary pieces? If a team is trading for him they had better have a deal in place for a long term deal. He is a core player for the Mets. This offseason they will sign him to a long term deal. Cohen spent crazy money on old dudes.. he will want to shore up his young core.. I think he learned his lesson.

Ya'll are delusional if you think either of these trades would be even close to what they would be wanting. Guarantee they would be wanting a MLB starting position player and several A list prospects.

Could Ohtani UCL open the door for the Twins?

Would make perfect sense... that is why Rocco will likely not do it. ;)

The Joey Gallo Experiment Should Be Over
specialiststeve replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No actually a statement based on playing (collage ball), coaching (legion) and watching his play. Not realizing this and trying to rationalize his poor play (hitting) Is as you would say (trying to sound smart) is paralogical (for the rest of us... illogical) !- 58 replies

Both have played well "lately" but let's not forget the HORRID 2 months they had to start the season. Especially Max. No apologies... especially when we still have the log jam and guys that are worthy of playing sitting in AAA. Moving him to bolster the bullpen... would have been the prudent thing to do...
-
End the Gallo experiment which has clearly failed and promote one of the guys .... Prato would be my pick with him being a right handed bat and ability to play multi-positions... would seem to make too much sense.

Is so disappointing. When he came up his tools were unbelievable. With all the medical experts out there and at their disposal is kind of weird that they can't get him right. Good chance like all of us old farts we have to take it down a gear or end up with a pulled something. So hard to do though. like the others not sure what the answer is .. except trade him and get what you can.. move on.

The three "sounds" like it makes some sense but.... If your "competition" is selling and giving you an opportunity to take control of the division and you do nothing... not good. As far as the roster not good enough to invest in... self incriminating statement I would say. Seems like fixing the roster to make it worth investing in as a fan .... would be their job. Not saying making big deals were expected but making some "tweaks" made too much sense and not making moves looks terrible to the fans.

Agree completely! Well stated. Doing nothing to solve some of the problems and appear to at least be trying seems to ooze incompetence. -
Instant Reaction: Twins Pass on Trade Deadline
specialiststeve replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Pick a lane... Driving down the middle of the road is a poor idea! If going for the division and thinking this team has a chance to do something in the playoffs get some help. (delusional but ... ) If not and we know this team is not that good (reality) move our players that have value for the future run.. Doing neither is just like driving in down the middle of the road.. poor choice.- 49 replies

Completely ridiculous that this team sat on its hands! I have defended this front office but this one is a head scratcher. Disagree with the writer... biggest mistake is NOT moving the starters ... now we get NOTHING. Oh a chance we get a draft pick IF Sonny signs a big contract.. or he could retire like he says he might and we get nothing... No right handed bat ... keeping the left handed log jam... Not DFA'ing Gallo... Dumbness is rampant!

How do you solve the upcoming infield glut?
specialiststeve commented on Doc Munson's blog entry in Fantasy GM
DFA Gallo #1. Guessing Polanco would have some decent trade value... With his contracted vested if he reaches 550 AB's (not happening) and a 12 mil team option in 25' you would think he would have some value on the market as when he is healthy he is very good.. key being when healthy.. not often... If some team wants Solano or Farmer okay... I like farmer and he is arbitration eligable so should be reasonable.. also marketable... Lots of options... -
As I have been saying here there and everywhere.... Gray, Maeta, and Max ALL should go if there is a decent offer on the table... Gallo... should just go - addition by subtraction. This team is not good enough to do any damage in the playoffs if they back their way in... getting solid return for guys leaving is the "smart" thing to do... see Tampa Bay... Fill the minors with high quality players for guys leaving.. Allow the system to feed the major league club and to use as when needed to get a guy .. when team is REALLY in contention.

Rumor: MLBTR Twins Rumor Roundup
specialiststeve replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
If there is a market for Sonny, Kenta, Max or Gallo we should act on it. We may back into the playoffs but getting assets for the future is the smart big picture move. -
Much rather move Max and Gallo and keep Larnach...

Why Are the Twins Striking Out So Often?
specialiststeve replied to RandBalls Stu's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Long swings, way too pull happy (creating front side flying away... See Buxton), Poor overall approach and unwillingness to "shorten up" with 2 strikes. Good news is that there appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel as it has been better. Moving Gallo and Max would help a ton... Dare I say moving Bux would also help but he is going nowhere. -
A bit skimpy on the options... Here is a better look at the options... https://theathletic.com/4716877/2023/07/25/mlb-trade-deadline-teams-players-rumors/ Max has been playing MUCH better... perfect time to move him... Maybe Dylan Carlson or O'Neil from the Cards... Teoscar would be nice also. Bullpen arms are anyones guess ... so many out there. PLEASE do not overspend... See Lopez trade..

He had better!! His value comes in many different ways with the ability to play many spots and play them WELL! Most utility guys "get by" ... he excels. Biggest thing I see when I watch is the energy and joy he brings to the team... way undervalued as the marathon of the season needs players like this to energize others. Also why we need a good mix of vets AND younger players.

Trading for Bellinger, what would you give?
specialiststeve replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Would all be in getting Raya.. and the lotto ticket prospect for the cost of Belly. All the rest is a wash...
