Can't really put this on Julien - if it does indeed turn into an L. The lack of hustle is infuriating but so too were MAT's failed bunt attempts and the odds are significantly higher that if MAT did his job, this game would've indeed been over.

Stewart was really good but it was a little bit of fool's gold considering the injury concerns. There was zero excuse for not upgrading the pen. IYAM, it's worse now than it was in 2022 and that's hard to do.

If, and it is a huge if, Keuchel continues to pitch well, then Kenta in the bullpen - presuming the Twins actually make the post-season, makes a lot of sense.

I wouldn't say Kenta's a waste of a roster spot especially when you take a look at the Twins' bullpen. A couple of those guys - that's what a waste looks like.

I'm taking it at face value, and based on that, sitting Wallner makes no sense. Is there more to it? Potentially. But Rocco hasn't come close to earning the benefit of the doubt either this year or really any other season. He leaves himself open to criticism. That's not a 'scandal'.

I'm still pissed that Rocco pulled Ober last night. I'm sure it was discussed at length but I wasn't in the game thread yesterday and I need to vent.

After Wallner's near miss, the game-ending double play seemed like it was bound to happen. Not Solano's best day.

Yes, he's been underwhelming at the plate. But watching that guy play short-stop on a nightly basis - it's an absolute joy. No real point to this thread other than to find a positive among a lot of the doubts and criticism that have been sent C4's way this season.

Also, I'd be surprised if Kepler's NOT on the team next year. His salary isn't cost prohibitive at all, and unless the Twins want to go with Larnach as a starting outfielder - and I don't think they do, they'll probably pay more for a stopgap outfielder than they would be paying Kepler. -

Yeah, I'm not sure what to think about Julien. His biggest issue is that his bat is the only reason you would want him playing on a regular basis. If he can't make some counter-adjustments, then he might not be the long-term option that some thought he would be.- 76 replies

Oh, and the Tigers are just an annoying team. Vierling, Carpenter, Torkelson, McKinstry. Pesky and they don't go away. They also have a pretty good manager. Will be glad when the Twins are done with them for the season.

I'll eat an appetizer portion of crow on Wallner because I was ready to trade him at the deadline. He's showing that he could very well be a long-term fixture in the outfield.

If you want to apply the logic that losing 3 of 4 to the Tigers dooms the Twins, then you can flip the script and say winning the season series against the Astros elevates the Twins to World Series contender.
