  1. I'm sure you are right about Farmer or Solano taking that 2B spot to begin the season. I know many fans (myself included) are really hoping for Julien to be given the 2B Opening Day spot (just think of the great video they could take of telling him that he's starting on Opening Day!), but that's not usually how the Twins role. They'd rather have him take care of business at AAA for a month before bringing him up. I am personally not at all sold on Solano, and he looks entirely lost at the plate, which shouldn't be the case for someone of his career stat line. Makes me wonder if there is an injury at play that isn't being disclosed. They just need to do what they need to do for Polanco. When he's playing and healthy he's a game changing presence on the field. It's a shame that he's been so plagued by injuries throughout his career.
  2. Straight up, if Gallo, Grey, and Mahle all have good seasons, I'd absolutely throw them each a QO. I'd have to assume that none of them take it (maybe Gallo?) but draft picks are pretty cool.
  3. If you can get them for (current market adjusted) deals like the Polanco or Kepler deals, then you absolutely go for it. Otherwise I think you take one more season before you start handing out those contracts, so you can see where they are developing (or not). Agreed with the people who said you absolutely extend Lopez and Duran this season though. If you can go into 2024 having Lopez, Ryan and Ober locked up for the coming years, you are in good shape.
  4. As long as we aren't watching Contreras or Celestino play 50+ games in the OF in 2023 this team is going to be dominating. The depth is great, but I still have zero faith in that next tier of guys.
  5. I'll never get over how dominant the Twins were against lefties in 2019. I just assumed at that point that this team was going to destroy all lefty pitching forever. Glad to see that they are well positioned to at least be better than they have been the last few years.
  6. With the way he's pitching currently, stashing him at AAA is a waste of innings for Ober. Would love to see them go with six starters until things sort themselves out. Best case scenario is that everyone remains healthy, and then you either move Kenta or Ober to a long relief role for the rest of the season.
  7. Let's say Kepler has an extremely solid and productive season, and hits like .270 with 20+ home runs. Does this team try to bring him back again next year for $10 million, or is this the end for him in a Twins uniform, no matter how this season goes?
  8. I've been so impressed with all three of these guys. Of all the success stories out there, I'm so blown away by what Nick Gordon has achieved. Dude was close to falling out of baseball relevancy entirely, and now he's agreed upon as one of the most consistently solid players on the team. Pretty dang cool to see.
  9. I'd love to just see Julien get a chance to rake at the MLB level, but maybe letting him rake at AAA for a short period of time would make more sense. I think Farmer to Third, Miranda to First, Solano DH makes the most sense, especially for the longer term. I have to imagine that we see Brooks Lee or Royce Lewis at 3B within the next year, and Miranda would likely end up as a 1B or DH at that point anyway.
