  1. If Castellano is good enough that the Twins want to keep him, then he is good enough to trade for him and get him in the minors where he belongs this season.
  2. i think you are right, but hope you are wrong. that said, he is not a major leaguer without a glove. not at so young of an age.
  3. Ok, that is true. Are we that sold on Julien's hitting after last seasons catastrophic performance? For arguments sake, let's answer yes. My next question is do the Twins want a guy on the roster who is possibly going to hit and not be an option to play in the field? I dislike how Baldelli moves guys around too much; but Julien becomes the opposite problem. His fielding is not at a major league level. He needs to learn how to field at AAA. Long and short term, I think that serves Julien's interests too.
  4. I respectfully disagree. Perhaps if the Twins were looking at a poor season. He should learn to field in the minor leagues.
  5. I mostly agree with this; although there is a compelling argument for Gasper. If this is the case, then Willi Castro should be focused on the infield which I think Castro could benefit from. Everyone loves the super sub, but I think Castro is better served focusing on fewer positions. Julien should not make the team unless there are multiple more injuries. He is just not a professional fielder...at least to date.
  6. you are probably right about julien, but I sincerely think he would be better served starting with St. Paul and becoming a professional at fielding either 1st or 2nd base.
  7. I literally laughed out loud! Still laughing...your comment was pure perfection!
  8. At this time, Julien is flat out NOT a major league player. His fielding is terrible and his hitting still requires proof of concept. I do like Gasper's flexibility as a 3rd catcher. He probably won't make the team because the Twins have france and Miranda ahead of him at 1st base. But if it is Julien or Gasper? Gasper 77 - 0!
  9. I actually think this might be the ideal time to move Paddack to the Yanks. And trading Lopez; heck no! His salary is big for the Twins, but for a 1 or 2 in the rotation...he is a good value. I am not a Paddack hater, I think he can bring value (albeit overpaid). that said, the Twins can get something for Paddack and it opens up a slot for one of the youngsters. And it opens up payroll for a bigger move when the Twins are doing great at the trade deadline.
  10. Tonkin would be a great deal for the Twins. Probably takes a bit more than that. I hate to float this, ,but what about Keirsey? Love the guy, but what is his future with the Twins with Bader on board?
  11. I think you are wrong about his arm. I watched him make a play deep in the 3b/ss hole against the Braves last week and he made a tremendous throw to get the runner. Yup, that's one play and no analytics to back it up; but it was a very impressive play. I think he makes a fine back up for Correa
  12. I was thinking the same thing about Dobnak. In fact, I want the best pitchers that aren't on the major league club in St. Paul (assuming they are ready). Put Dobnak on the AA roster if necessary to make room for the promising youngsters. Additionally, I don't agree with the article about Varland having potential as a starter. He is a proven failure as a starter. I do like him as a reliever and it seems the Twins have finally arrived on that point.
  13. More Wallner; cowbell...cracks me up. Seriously, interesting stats. I do agree that Wallner is one of the teams best hitters and i have high hopes for him this season. That said, if he is one of our best hitters (and for power), I wonder if there is a way to figure out the lost opportunity of having him hit more frequently with runners on base which the 3/4 slot would likely accomplish. Does the lost opportunity outweigh the benefits of leading off?
  14. I would like the Twins to bring the best players North. Unless Julien or Lee hit well, they should both start in the minors. I think Castro should play the most at 2nd. I get some of his value as a utility player, but I think he, and the Twins, would benefit from less flexibility and more stability.
  15. I was at the game. The ball was caught at the RF wall and the wind was blowing directly in at 10 to 15mph. He crushed it.
  16. The Twins can't make any big moves until ownership changes, and I think most would agree that this can not happen soon enough. France does not seem like a worthwhile signing despite his non guaranteed contract. Takes up a spring training slot that would be better served by youngsters.
  17. I've been saying a similar thing for sometime. Castro wore out last season. He should play less and fewer (not more) positions.
  18. i can't imagine Tonkin or julien on the opening day roster. I know tonkin is signed, but even if they pull him from the 40 man roster, it's possible no one else will pick him up.
  19. Seemingly, the Twins have excellent depth at second base.
