  1. Rockies fans must be celebrating. The first time they have won back to back games all season!!! At least Twins have Baldelli locked up for another season and probably won't do anything significant at the trade deadline.
  2. While I also will give him credit for starting the regulars when I saw the infield playing in for a play at the plate with the bases loaded and 1 out in the 10th I told my wife, oh oh, I'd have them playing at double play depth. If they had been, it would have been an easy double play ball to Lee. Oh well..........
  3. While I would also like to see pitchers go deeper into games this isn't only a Twins issue. The last time I saw the stat, across all of the majors starters the average is 5 2/3 innings.
  4. If I remember correctly, the Tigers payroll is about $400,000 more than the Twins and both are just below the middle in team payroll ranking.
  5. Totally agree the Twins are awful. However, I disagree about the not spending money part. The Twins have the 18th highest payroll in MLB and only about $400,000 behind the Tigers who seem to be doing just fine spending that amount. How and where the money is being spent is the problem.
  6. I would add the Braves who regularly bring up pitchers who step right into the major league lineup. And the Brewers who last year started 17 different pitchers (including having their ace--Brandon Woodruff our all of last year and this year so far).
  7. Exactly!! But the Brewers started the same 8 position players batting in the same position in the order all 3 days vs the Twins (including their catcher) in extremely hot and humid conditions with great success.
  8. I agree about overblowing the injury excuse. Every team has injuries. The good teams find someone (often times in their minor leagues to bridge the gap). The Brewers who just pummeled the Twins have done so without their best starter not having played since 2023 and used a rookie making only his 2nd major league start to throw 5 perfect innings vs the Twins. The Brewers used 17 different stating pitchers last year and still made the playoffs. The Braves have likewise won without having their best players available (Acuna most of last year and last week brought up a pitcher who had just turned 20 years old two days before he started for them.
  9. Baldelli has been notorious for bringing guys up and then sitting them on the bench without giving them the opportunity to see what they can do at the major league level.
  10. Best news I've heard about the Twins in a long time.
  11. I like seeing so many steals from Twins minor league players. If only that would transpire to the Twins. Hard to believe Twins have that much more speed in the minors than the majors. Coaching philosophies??
  12. Even more embarrassing is that the bottom 4 batters in the Rangers batting order drove in 14 of the runs.
  13. Love the groupings but you should have included the Milwaukee Brewers whose spend in the $115 million range and seem to win or compete for their division title almost every year.
  14. I agree. As a disheartened Twins fan, I can't help but wonder if the problem wasn't the manager's philosophy about trying to take advantage of the righty/lefty matchup. There were times when a player was in the starting lineup and replaced before he even batted because the opponent changed pitchers. Did the players lose focus or confidence? IMO, you start the players that give you the best chance to win and let them play
  15. While an Ace would have been helpful it wouldn't have helped the hitting collapse which saw the Twins total 4 hits or fewer in 24 of their last 30 games. It was a total team collapse.
  16. The Tigers first 7 hits were to the opposite field or up the middle. That sounds like the hitters had a plan vs the pitcher and followed through with it.
  17. The article stated he is under control for 2 more years.
  18. Silver Slugger hits on a key point. While the bullpen has been bad the last 2 months the offense has been equally as bad. Many nights totaling 5 hits or fewer, walked off 2 straight nights by the Indians, and the other night they had a huge 8 hits but 6 of them came from the 2nd and 3rd batters in the order.
  19. Do you think when Correa comes back Julien will go down and Lee takes over at 2nd base?
  20. I agree 100%! I haven't been anti Baldelli up until now. I personally thing the changing of players strictly based on the righty-lefty matchup is part of the problem with the Twins players struggling. Many times a player only gets 1 or 2 AB's and they are pinch hit for. Pick the starting lineup and let them play. It seems like Baldelli may have lost the locker room.
