Why are you hung up on runs scored? Bell doesn’t play defense - there’s talk in baseball about Arraez playing GG defense in ‘26. That said, a guy can’t score without guys that hit behind him - Bell and mostly others on Twins have scored a bunch because they are close to Top of Baseball in BA with RISP. Hence they lead or did lead the A.L. in runs…….. when guys hit with RISP the guys in front of them are scoring runs - not happening in SF. That’s why guys are getting moved from Giants for prospects instead of getting zero value when they walk. Btw, what I wrote was he was valued enough to trade for our staff ace. I wrote the Marlins switched GM’s after they signed Luis & he won Batting Title again ….. they were once again in frugal mode. Preller was/is spending wildly in San Diego and they had to cut costs some. Dylan Cease doesn’t pitch for them anymore because of this $$ issue in San Diego.

I’d take him 8 days per week. He can’t score if the guys behind him can’t hit. Arraez has improved his defense at 2B greatly. Having a guy that hits .330 behind Buxton gets Buxton better pitches to hit. He should hit 3rd or 5th, behind Lewis and not at the Top of the line-up. Twins traded him for Lopez. Miami traded him because they don’t spend money & new GM. San Diego let him go because he declined just a bit but principally because they spend too much money and didn’t want to pay him with Tatis - Machado - Bogarts on the payroll. The Giants want to trade him because they suck as a whole and he’ll be a free agent.

Lewis is just fine ……. reason Caratini & Jackson played 1B wasn’t a negative on Lewis, it was to get more RH bats in the line-up v. LH pitching. He’s doing everything they need him to do. Huge hit Tuesday - another hit last night - nobody got hits today……. Long-term, I really like Royce at 1B pretty much every day. Culpepper & Houston up the middle for years with Lee at the other corner.

IMO, don’t expect Minnesotans to concur, just hearing Wallner’s name makes me nauseous. Putting him on the active roster, again to me, would be like hanging an anvil around the Team’s neck. I’ve been a proponent to trade Bell & Caratini & Wallner & prospects to create some space and bring back some relief help. …….. I think they may need to keep this position group together and, as I stated a couple times per day, they need to put a package together for Luis Arraez…….gotta be able to make it happen! Solid at 2B & perfect protection for a guy like Lewis or even slotting behind Buxton could be beneficial. REALLY Need an offensive shot in the arm!!

Trade Bell - Caratini - Wallner - prospects for a reliever. Larnach is DH 75% & Keaschall or Buxton v. LH pitching. Gotta trade for a bat! To me, Team needs to fight through competition and get Arraez from Giants. Jeffers & Larnach remain on the roster. Note: Twins paid Vazquez $10M/year for 3 years ……… Caratini costs $10M next year including his buyout. Take Caratini’s ‘27 cost & add Jeffer’s salary and pay Jeffers the total of $16M, next year and for 2 more years. Youth arrives in ‘28 and very little cost with the young, developing depth guy. Worth a shot!

Is Caratini worth $10M next year is the question to me? I don’t see it - I trade him with all his “flexibility” as the headline in discussions, along with Team control.

No Jeffers & no Caratini in ‘27…….. don’t see the big deal. I’ve thought for a few weeks that Caratini’s flexibility on defense (+1B) and his switch hitting - with control for next year - makes him a Catcher that could bring back as much or more than the upcoming Free Agent, Jeffers. Twins can figure out how to sign or trade for a Catcher before the start of next season - just don’t see this as a problem, particularly after realizing they’ll owe Caratini $10M for 1 year. Trade Caratini & Bell with prospects for at least a single reliever and make a big play for Arraez. Solidifies line-up and 2B, while allowing Clemens to play Corner Outfield with Larnach and Keaschall/Buxton platooning at DH……. Arraez will off-set some of the sting with moving a Catcher & Bell in the Clubhouse as well.

Most embarrassing, right behind the A.L. West. I can’t stand watching Lee for all the reasons you site - his BA with RISP is the only reason I give him the slightest respect. He may slide?He started out like an obvious AAA demotion and since has been slightly above average as a rule …….. guessing, 12-13 weeks. Take a look at the OPS+ for The Guardians roster and tell me The Twins have no chance. There’s a difference between World Series competitive v. being competitive for “a run in the A.L.”. My hope is they swallow the risk on Jeffers and trade Caratini w/prospect(s) for a reliever. I’d try hard to put a package together to Giants for Arraez. Adding him at 2B along with a reliever, I think they have a shot to make playoffs & advance.

The Nats are in the mix in the N.L. Wildcard. They just traded a guy with 17 HRs and is controllable for a starting pitcher. They aren’t trading Griffin at the $$ rate he’s making…..the cost is a non-issue. They have him to help them win NOW.

Are you The Great Kreskin? Lee is who he is after 4 months. Bell can go away tomorrow and Larnach & Keaschall slot at DH without losing a thing. Kreidler hasn’t hit in more than 3 games for the last month and Team is just fine. My point is, what you stated. the Team went 25-22 without Jeffers so why think with Jeffers they would back up? It seems you missed or are ignoring what I stated at the Top……..”Teams will add - who adds what?” Are The Guardians a “playoff caliber team?” …… somebody wins out, regardless of what the underlying analytics present as the assured future.

The “Twins are projected” with no additions?? How does that relate to a Team that adds a couple key pieces? …….. Teams will add - who adds what? They play the A.L. Central 16 more games & the A.L. West 17 games. The O’s & Giants in one series each……., 39 games of remaining 54 v. teams that are not on different level. The Sox are 2.5 games ahead of Twins & Guards are .5 games ahead of Twins. They only need to “not show up” for 2 days and team catches them. 6-4 v. Guards in ‘26 with 3 left in Minneapolis…….Twins get 1 of 3 and they have tie breaker. They have tie breaker in hand with Astros & Red Sox…… not a big deal, until it potentially becomes a big deal. Twins were “projected” to win how many games at start of Season - 76? ……. Jeffers missed 60+ games. They just got a “fifth starter” back 2 days ago ………. seems if they add 2 contributors (with existing group in tact) they are as likely as anyone to obtain 3rd Wildcard and a break or two from winning Division. I will grant - to my eye, the White Sox schedule after next 6-7 games seems pretty soft!

Four more years of control with Varland - they assume they will be competitive within next two seasons and he’ll be a big reason why, for the Jays. Rojas, straight up …… he’s 23. Louie was in MiLB all of age 23 season. Louie was 0-6 and looked like he might wash out in ‘24 at age 26. Louie is 28……..I get the excitement & pull from a “Minnesota” perspective but I don’t get the continual angst over the trade??? Bottom line is the Jays are not trading Varland.

You are right - everyone over values the guys in their side of trades. If the Twins get effective help this year in the PEN is anyone going to fret over Soto & Debarge?? …….cannot imagine it’s ever mentioned.

Currently, the Twins are at 17-8 v. the other 4 current Wildcard Team. (Yankees - Guards - Astros - Red Sox) Texas - Chicago - Tampa are the projected Division Winners. If a Team that’s “competitive” doesn’t see that group of 7 Teams as an opportunity to get through more than one round, not sure when….. right??? …. Seriously don’t know when they would have a more open path? Chicago is 2.5 games ahead of Twins at this point…….85-77 has a real shot to win the division. I don’t see the logic in not acting on this opportunity……..they don’t need to sell 4 guys for Mason Miller or the like. To your point about being aggressive - simplest move in my mind is keeping Jeffers! Trade Caratini to a team in need of a Catcher that can play 1B & is controlled through next year…… throw in whatever prospect arm, for a reliever with probability to be effective. Trade an attractive package to Giants for Arraez. Big ….. 2B & offense upgrade with Arraez and then the added reliever. To me, they make a solid run with this group.

Larnach IS current help! Look at his ‘24 stats when he was platooned, as he is this year….., they were solid. He’s gotten better. The corner OF options are great to use - TRADE Bell. have Larnach & Keaschall split the DH spot as a platoon. Roden/Martin/Keaschall in the corner spots - maybe Jenkins at some point. IF trying to WIN, my preference would be to trade Caratini and Bell and keep Jeffers and Larnach. Have a back-up Catcher going forward if they extend Jackson for 2 years at some meager salary……… just used first TWO draft picks on college age Catchers. QO to Jeffers for ‘27 or get somebody else to fill job for ‘27.

Matt Wallner isn’t going to help them win! He wouldn’t be relegated to St. Paul if anyone thought differently. His decent stretches in ‘23 & ‘ 24 were both after extended time at AAA after failing at MLB level. That’s who he is. Why see what Matt Wallner can do when Larnach is hitting .290 with a .380 OBP & 135 OPS+???? They are the same age. Larnach can actually play corner OF. Roden was a throw-in along with centerpiece, Rojas. He’s getting the time he deserves. The ENTIRE A.L. is weak, so no “better year” to make a push!! Twins are 5-1 v. Boston. 6-4 v. Guards, 4-2 v. Astros, 2-1 v. Yankees. That’s 17-8 v. other Wildcard contenders …….. Team has as good a shot in Playoffs as any of these 4 Clubs!

TWINS v. other A.L. Wildcard contenders, as of today, (Astros, Red Sox, Guards, & Yankees) are 17-8 for ‘26. They play 3 more with Guardians & Yankees, both at home……..have already won the other 2 series. To me, this is a pretty encouraging stat! Gotta make a couple REAL moves to improve!

With experience - decent production - ability to play 1B - switch hitter - 1 more year of control……….I think Caratini gets best return and is definitely in play!

Prielipp has, potentially, enough left to get through August. ……. Paredes is out for balance if the year or at least for a month plus. Seattle has to pay $14M or no deal ……. they save $10M & move on. If it’s not a big $$ number from Seattle, pass! -
A Top 10 prospect is not the “throw-in” mentioned originally. Wallner cannot play OF much better than Yankees DH. Gonzalez & Mendez aren’t going to replace Bellinger, now. Neither has seen MLB ………they aren’t playing in the Twin’s OF, how are they heading to NY and stepping in for Bellinger?? Lots of Teams will have enough $$ to sign Jeffers.

Kreidler - an absolute scorched line drive right at the left fielder and 3 doubles……..that’s his latest game. He is going to hit .215-.230 …… fine. I wish he would bunt a bit more and utilize his speed, particularly in dry spells. He can steal bases when he gets on …… solid D…..,he’s just fine in ‘26!

Can’t trade Jenkins. Everyone agrees. Emma is continually hurt so his value sucks……he’s averaged around 54 games/year for last 4 years. Can’t imagine any team being excited about him. Mendez? Wallner? Roden? ……..other than this group, I don’t know who else is interesting and hits left handed? Bell & Caratini & Jeffers are all possibilities to obtain a shot in the arm. I too hope some reliever - even one, can be brought back in a trade. -

Crazy thought for Tom P. to act on……….trade for Sandy Alcantara. Make a strong playoff push! Wallner - Emma - Raya & an A Ball arm……& maybe a AA arm……...maybe Ober…… any of the prospects other than Houston - Culpepper - Jenkins - & this year’s #1 & 2 picks. Marlins have lost 12 straight & he costs $21M next year. If Tom wants to spend to be competitive, he could be the guy! Trade Bell & Caratini or Jeffers. Any two of those guys pay for Alcantara, plus, for this year’s cost. Lopez - Alcantara - Ryan would cost $56M next year …… if there is a spending floor, these guys are $$ well spent against that total. Those 3 with Bradley & Abel (or whoever) would be the best rotation in baseball! Prielipp or Rojas & Matthews to the PEN in ‘27. OR Put a package together for Luis Arraez! He goes to 2B and hits 3rd every day. He protects Buxton and plays solid 2B now. Clemens & Keaschall settle in playing LF & RF every day. Larnach moves to DH and Keaschall is DH v. lefties w/Martin in corner OF. Bell/Wallner/one of the Catchers with a pitching prospect or two - somehow, they need to bring back a reliever. Take a BIG SWING Tom!!
