  1. Watching last year it seemed pitchers frequently went with a high strike when they needed to get Wallner out.
  2. To me the timing of this has to be Falvey wanted to spend more, at least in the future, and ownership said we are going to make a profit (and thus reduce future spending). Not a huge Falvey fan, but as others have said, be careful what you wish for. Hard to believe but we could be wishing for Falvey in the future if we become the A's of the recent past.
  3. The Twins were never keeping Rooker on the 40 man through his bad years. The A's simply timed picking him up at the right time and had a chance to give him extended AB's on a bad team. After the Twins traded Rooker, the Padres and Royals both got rid of him for nothing. Players like Rooker are why the Twins and every team keeps picking up guys with potential, hoping things finally click.
  4. Gray cost us the great Brujan, who never made an error his entire time with the Twins. Brujan traded to the Mets for cash.
  5. And Falvey just did it again. We got Tristan Gray in a trade. Okay, now someone tell me about this guy who bats .163 or something against rh's. Do we need yet another light hitting infielder?
  6. As the Dodgers planned the entire time, a week after claiming him on waivers and then putting him back on waivers, Ryan Fitzgerald cleared waivers and they now have him for their AAA team.
  7. Raya has pitched out of the pen, 10 times last year. But I believe it is mostly (or all) piggyback situations where he started the inning.
  8. Have to disagree with your list (as I think the Caratini signing signals a Jeffers trade and even less of a chance of winning even 70 games) - Rodriguez, Jenkins and Culpepper are my top three. I'd rather win 65 games with those 3 in the lineup than fringe players we hope will suddenly emerge or retreads we know won't. Prielipp and Raya only have a shot to start the year with the Twins because there isn't much of a bullpen. Klein - he needs more time at AAA. Remember that if a rookie is with the team all year and wins Rookie of the Year, that's an extra 1st round pick. Gold for the non-large market teams.
  9. Call a plumber!! Our 1B pipeline seems to now be permanently plugged. Nothing is getting through.
  10. I like today's promotion of Brian Dinkleman as the manager in St. Paul more than this transaction.
  11. De Andrade - formerly in my personal top 10 prospects for the Twins as he was a great glove SS. Instead, he repeated High A last year and played more in other positions than at SS. If he's not a SS, he's not playing MLB. His bat has always been questionable. Thus, everyone else is passing him by (Culpepper, Houston, DeBarge, etc.) and I don't have him in my top 30 prospects.
  12. I've got: 1. Whoever is our #1 draft pick. 2. Rojas - won't get enough MLB time in 2026 3. D. Hill 4. Tait 5. Soto
  13. This is who I want, not what I think the Twins will do: C - Jeffers, Jackson 1B - Bell, Clemens 2B - Keashall 3b - Lewis SS - Culpepper, Lee (Utility) OF - Rodriguez, Buxton, Jenkins, Martin, Wallner I agree with other posters that the lineup presented will win 70 games. Therefore, lets get faster, younger and probably still win 70 games by the end of the year.
  14. Sad news - Ronny Henriquez to have UCL surgery. Not the Twins injury problem but too bad for a guy who pitched pretty good last year.
  15. Do most people on TD actually want the Twins to add "thump?" Initial answer is yes. But he can't strike out 30% of the time. Oh, and he has to play good defense. It seems like we want someone who hits .300 with 30 HR's and 100 rbi's and plays good defense. IMO, we need a mixture of thumpers and speed on the team (great to have both like Buxton). That's why I don't like giving up on Wallner. He's a thumper. I think he can fix that hole at the top of the zone. He's a lot cheaper than any on this list as well. I know, we still need someone at 1B.
  16. The scary thing - maybe Popkins actually MAXED OUT our talent when he was here!!
  17. Every year people think the Twins will lose a hitter in the Rule 5 draft. The odds of that are like 1%. This year, there was a grand total of 1 position player taken, by the Twins and traded to the Giants.
  18. Many of us wanted more speed and better defense to go along with good hitting. Culpepper is checking those boxes. DeBarge has the first two with an A grade. Is he Noah Miller with more speed or can he hit better than him. League average hitting/OBP and he's in MLB some day.
  19. The Twins won't pick any position players. They will pick a pitcher and I like the Larnach for Steer type of trade with Steer playing 1b.
  20. "Moving Larnach aside would also make it easier to find playing time for Alan Roden, James Outman, Austin Martin, Matt Wallner, and outfield prospects Emmanuel Rodriguez and Gabriel Gonzalez. It would give the team a chance to slide Luke Keaschall to the outfield at times," The biggest reason Larnach should be traded (not released) is Walker Jenkins, not even mentioned in this above quote. Also, as with others, I just can't see any need to "find" playing time for James Outman. DFA him.
  21. I would really like to start the season with Jenkins, Rodriguez and Buxton in the OF. It's time to give our young guys the chance. We aren't going to the playoffs in 2026 anyway.
  22. I think the Twins will draft a Rule 5 pitcher. We aren't planning on making the playoffs and that's exactly the time a team can add and hold that pitcher all year. He may only pitch in blowout games but it appears there will be enough of those to pitch in. It's not like our bullpen is overloaded right now.
