As far as the DH rule. I've always thought it would be fun to have home team choose DH or not. Makes the rule same for every team and brings in a bit of strategy as well.
If the Twins don't make a move like this in the next couple years the "contention window" will never open. Top tier starters cost too much in FA. It's gonna suck to see some promising young players go. I'd be happier if a trade happened and turned out poorly than if Twins sit on their hands.
Buxton seems a lot like Jackie Bradley Jr. JBJ struggled early in his career while playing great defense in centerfield. Both were high prospects. JBJ figured out his offense after a couple of seasons and has leveled out. Hopefully Buck can surpass him and play more like Mookie or McCutchen and be that MVP type player we're all wanting.
I was comparing Sano to Thomas and Cabrera. The Colon comment was only to show a little extra size doesn't stop a player from aging well. Would Big Papi be better?
Sano has more of a Big Hurt or Miguel Cabrera build than a Panda build. By no means would I call him obese. All the weight that Bart carries hasn't stopped him from being productive into old age. Stress related injuries happen over a full MLB season.
Grossman would DH for Alonso, or play OF for Kepler against lefty starters. I agree that he's not the player to make the Twins contenders. Maybe for a WC berth. Not like Mariners gave up much, not sure who Twins version of "Powell" is.
