  1. Hunt your pitch until it’s time for the classic two strike approach.
  2. Verlander didn’t play to his potential with the Tigers when they were struggling. Some guys get used to playing meaningful games for contenders and need that extra motivation.
  3. How about split time instead of a true platoon. Sano gets 4-5 starts a week at 3rd and 1 at DH.
  4. Drop Adrianza, let Schoop or Marwin backup Jorge. Sano/Marwin platoon 3rd with Astudillo getting a start or two a week. Sano covers the Cruz offdays. Or just drop Castro.
  5. Catchers don’t have to put up great numbers to be considered a star these days, no Mauers out there. JTR is an 820ops hitter and is considered far an away the best catcher in the game right now. If Gary Sanchez could catch he’d be an actual superstar. Th point is Astudillo/Garner put up good numbers and are capable backstops. If I had to choose two of the three I’d rather trade/release Castro than send the one of the other two down.
  6. Garver vs righties La Tortuga vs lefties Castro traded for anything off the 40 man and salary relief. Fill 40 man spot with Craig Kimbrel. Go to World Series
  7. I was hoping they’d give the bullpen help but didn’t think we’d make that big of splash hahhaa
  8. I’m hopin Rogers takes the mound
  9. Anyone but Adrianza to come in and take that at bat would’ve been great.
  10. I’d love to pick this team to win the division or get a wild card, but Twins have a lot of question marks. Overall team health aside Sano, Buxton, Schoop, Perez, and Reed all had down years and are still being counted on to contribute this year. Can Cron prove it? Or is he LoMo 2.0? Kepler take a step forward? Pineda look as good as he was in NY? Too many ???? Edit: 81
  11. I’m all for the roster rules changes. The three batter minimum and position player pitching rules are only baffling to me. Forcing a guy who doesn’t have it that night to stay in will only make games longer. A lot of LOOGY will lose their job also.
  12. Twins have a ton of young guys coming up and little on the books going forward. Even with signing a close to $20 million per year deal enough wiggle room exists to make a mid season trade. It would be nice to have Keuchel around as an Ervin type of anchor for the rotation. 3/$50? The guy has a Cy Young in the not too distant past and a winning resume.
  13. You say bad luck for Sano. I say good luck for the Twins. Let’s quit putting our hopes on a Chris carter, Mark Reynolds type. Time for Marwin and Astudillo to shine.
  14. I’m hoping this turns into addition by subtraction. Escobar was better at 3rd last year than Sano, maybe we can have a repeat of that with Marwin this year. I’m ready to label Sano as a bust and move on from him being a scholarship player, possible face of franchise, starting regular. Let him fight with Tyler Austin for a roster spot in a couple months.
  15. If Gio is a minor league deal why in the heck did this FO give Martin Perez anything?
  16. I think if he had said angry or upset instead of pissed, this entire interview would have a different feel to it.
  17. Does Marwin start on opening day? If so, who sits? Kepler, Buxton, Schoop, Sano, Cron?
  18. This blows the door wide open for constructing a 25 man roster. Barring any injuries, I’d guess he replaces Cave, who has an option. No reason to lose 40 man depth if you don’t need to.
  19. I equate pitch framing to flopping in other sports. Both are actions made with the intent to get a call made in your favor. Anything that can be done to minimize the effect of framing(flopping) should be done. Having goofy strike zones every night is just that, goofy. Turn on KZone and give the ump an ear piece to make strikes and balls. Let him make check swing, foul ball, or plays at the plate live with his own judgement.
  20. 12 stitches?! He should’ve been in a boot since he got them. Why would somebody, pro athlete especially, wait a month to put their foot in a boot after they’ve gotten 12 stitches? Hopefully he’s spending his days behind the batting cage reading pitches as they come out of the pitchers hand while talking with the hitting coaches.
  21. I don’t really see the need for a backup 1B/DH/PH. Who would he pinch hit for? Castro? If so then why not just pinch hit with Garver or Astudillo? Twins only pinch hit 100 times last year. I don’t think it’s a very good use of a roster spot for a pinch hitter/1B only player.
  22. If Ohtani has been healthy all year and produced on both sides of the ball like he was preinjury does that make him a clear MVP candidate?
  23. Raise pay in the minors and drop a level or two. Do they really need rookie ball, LowA, HighA, or so many rounds in the draft? If a team really wants to keep extra players let them stay at their ST facility and or pay them to play in Mexico or the Caribbean.
  24. I’ve wondered the same thing. Why sign Cron for 4 million more than the player they already have in the same mold? It shows zero confidence in Austin. Great trade they made, pay for half a season of Lynn so they can have half a season of a dime a dozen no option first base only player.
  25. Nice! If him and Gibson start the year on the DL that opens a couple spots on the 25 for the likes of Austin and Mejia to get a couple weeks of MLB paychecks and to showcase their talents in hopes of catching a whol years or more worth of checks.
