  1. The QO next year will likely be more than the AAV of Dozier’s next contract. If he really is confident in himself he’ll take the QO and get his bigger check the next year.
  2. I’ve been looking around for an ace to acquire at the trade deadline this year, and I’m not seeing any. The best chance I see is the Mets going full Marlins mode.
  3. I’ll take the upside possibilities of Lamarre and his new swing. The only thing the Twins have to lose is Grossy, and I’m not very concerned about that. Edit: If he’s willing to start the year in Rochester than he will. Roster flexibility
  4. Let’s not refer to him as a kid. The man is 26. I’m not saying he’s finished progressing as a ball player. The low babip puts a big smile on my face. He’s going to do damage this year:)
  5. The weights not really an issue for me. He’s still young and those sort of things don’t catch up to you for years, Prince Fielder. By then he’ll be playing for some other team on a free agent deal.
  6. I don’t think this offseason could’ve gone much better. The Twins never making a push to go for it was really starting to wear down my fandom. Now I’m only slightly crazy for telling my friends we can win the WS.
  7. I like to put speed down the line up so it’s leess likely to be wasted on home runs.
  8. Adrianza also plays corner outfield, and better than Grossy imho.
  9. If Kintzler can close effectively and keep us in the hunt, Rodney should do just fine. Twins have an upgraded bullpen backing him. Let’s see those arrows fly!
  10. With Ervin out for opening day and more this is Jose’s chance to step up and be the player we all believe he can be. He’s got great stuff and looks outright nasty at times. Just don’t put to much pressure on yourself bud. And have a lot of fun beating the damn yanks!
  11. Four man rotation out the gate: Berrios, Odor, Gibber, Mejia With Hughes as long man/spot starter makes five. Bullpen: Rodney, Reed, Duke, Pressley, Rogers, Hildy, and Kinney is seven, makes 12 total pitchers. Position players: two catchers, Mauer, Morrison, Dozier, Polanco, Sano, Rosario, Buxton, Kepler, Adrianza, Grossy, Escobar makes 13 hitters for 25 total. This leaves Vargas in limbo and Duffey stretching out in AAA. My first cut is Grossy when Big Erv returns. Using Adrianza as they did at the end of last season, platooning with Kepler.
  12. This is Garver’s sink or swim moment. He’ll either find his stroke or drown between now and May/June. I wonder how much Lucroy will cost for a 1 yr deal.
  13. Let’s not forget Adrianza is the one who platooned nicely with Kepler down the stretch last year. LoMo pushes Vargas out no doubt. Twins will have 13 position players to start the season, but sooner or later Grossman or Adrianza will have to be let go to make way for a 13 man pitching staff.
  14. I understand making low risk deals to cover for Ervin being hurt. This is a no upside move. If he breaks camp with the team you can throw away your hopes and dreams because that means they’re not willing to pay the price, $ or prospects, for an impact player.
  15. Derek Holland was signed to a minor league deal per MLBTR. That’s a steal imho.
  16. If this was a league of all time team great teams how do you think this team would do? Playoffs? .500? Less?
  17. I think once baseball gets away from lumbering dinosaurs, who are three true outcome players, and move to more athletic players, triples, steals, great defense, the game will be exciting again. Three outcome players are killing my entertainment.
  18. If the Ywins sign Darvish I will be very happy. If he signs with another team I will also be happy in thinking he wasn’t worth it.
  19. What does a deal for Colome look like? Can Twins start with Gordon and Stewart? Maybe some lotto tickets or international money?
  20. I might become a Brewers fan if Twins sign Napoli
  21. Isn’t Darvish, Santana, Berrios, and an emergence from one of the next group enough to make Twins contenders? Go after the still needed but lesser priced Alex Colome, if targeting Rays in a trade.
  22. Falvine sold off veterans and made the WC. I call that getting your pie and eating it too.
  23. If I’m not mistaken, the Mets have money issues. Paying down Santana and Dozier contracts could go a long way to a better return. And my favorite throw ins Grossy and Gibby.
