  1. All well and good, but what about seven?
  2. Went I bed as they were down 3-0. Woke up this morning to cruise through the dvr. Unlike in years past, I thought “this line-up, a three runs, that’s doable.” Sure was. They tied it up in a blink.
  3. The best: Sano hitting an opposite field, go-ahead homer late in the game. Boom.
  4. Congrats, Luis! Hope you do well in the show. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a way to stick. Maybe instead of Tortugito, he should be El Conejo.
  5. Agree that I would rather see Romero given a chance as a starter. When is Gonsalves supposed to pitch?
  6. I’m having a hard time keeping up. Wasn’t Duffey brought up and sent down this weekend?
  7. That’s already two missed calls by Joe West on check swings.
  8. I agree. I don’t fault the umpires for getting it wrong. It’s just that there are better options, since literally everyone watching the game on tv can see the balls and strikes better than the umpire behind home plate.
  9. I did note the vaunted “three catchers” lineup as I typed it up.
  10. Twins start a three game set against the Angels tonight at Target Field. This is game #40 for the Twins this season. So far, the Twins have gone: 6-4 7-3 6-4 6-3. So if my powers of sequence divination are correct, the Twins will win this game to wrap up a 7-3 record in their fourth ten game set. Or go 13-7 in their second score, looking at it another way. On the hill tonight, José Berrios. He’s 3-0 with 20 IP, 4ER, 18Ks, 0BBs in his last three starts. Going for the Angels, leftyTyler Skaggs. His last 3: 2-1, 15.2 IP, 9ER, 14Ks, 8BBs. Lineups: Twins, 25-14 Garver DH Polanco SS Cron 1B Rosario LF Marwin RF Willians 3B Adrianza 2B Castro C Buxton CF Angels, 19-21 La Stella 2B Trout CF Ohtani DH Simmons SS Pujols 1B Calhoun RF Smith C Goodwin LF Fletcher 3B Go Twins!
  11. Hope that Stewart last until the Twins’ second round pick.
  12. The umpire was bad in this game. Garver walked in the ninth, but after the Marwin hit, instead of two on, one out, there were two outs and one on. On the Dixon home run, he struck out on the previous pitch, but the ump called it a ball. That’s a big difference. There were several other missed calls. As for line-up construction, I understand why they are batting Buxton ninth (for confidence reasons), but I think as many at bats as possible for him will also be a confidence booster. I think he should start moving up in the lineup (none of Willians, Kepler, or Adrianza should have batted ahead of him against a lefty, for example). I’d like him ahead of some RBI options. And Garver should be starting as much as possible. He can DH if Cruz is going to miss time.
  13. http://www.wholehogs...arkansas-twins/ “Johnson is known for developing power pitchers. His two Arkansas staffs finished with a combined 1,238 strikeouts in 133 games, and several Razorbacks saw significant increases to the velocity of their pitches as a result of Johnson's emphasis on lower-body workouts and pitch-mechanic analytics. “At Johnson's urging, prior to the 2017 season Arkansas installed a radar system called TrackMan that records and analyzes 46 data points for pitchers on every pitch. “If you get into biomechanics, you find out really fast that a pitcher cannot repeat his delivery," Johnson told WholeHogSports in 2017. "You’ve got over 600 muscles in the body. To think that the roughly 240 that we use in pitching are going to fire at the same time - you’ve got a better chance at winning the lottery. TrackMan gives me a chance to show guys a consistent release height and some things we can repeat."
  14. It’s mindsets like this that result in Ron Gardenhire and Rick Anderson leading the Tigers. I’m glad Falvey and Levine zagged when most others zigged.
  15. When do we think it is safe to render a verdict on this?
  16. There has been a lot of attention on Perez’ increased velocity, but I will note that Odorizzi is at 92.4mph on his fastball this year, fastest of his career, and all of his pitches are faster as well. When the Twins signed Johnson, I combed through his resume. His team’s had a marked improvement in ERA and K rates after his arrival, it was uncanny how consistent the quick improvement was. I concluded that his signing may have been the biggest signing of the Falvey-Levine tenure.
  17. I like Bob’s review. I’d be happy with him as their pick.
  18. Them’s fightin’ words. At least around these parts, anyway. (I agree with you.)
  19. “The offense for the Kernels popped” Nicely played. Looking like Sano is ready for Rochester.
