    I thought that interview was great. He said the exact opposite of Pablo when asked about facing Skubal. And his response to the question on Jeffers’ challenges was genuine and fun. This kid is a real find.

    Seriously. Just take your strikeout and go back to the dugout. He should be forbidden from challenging. Certainly not on a first pitch of AB. Should only allow challenges on (potential) strike threes or ball fours.

    Since this is about the cap, a question and a comment: 1) Would the Twins try to do the “two-for-one strategy of going under at #3 and way over at #43? Say,..$7mm for Grady Emerson and $5mm for Drew Burress? 2) If I recall, the Twins are one of, if not the only, team to never exceed their draft pool. If Tom Pohlad wants to contend tha things are different, he should be pushed on this - the Twins are voluntarily giving up resources they could use to get better players in the system

    Nick Gordon (5) was drafted in the year that heading into the spring, Trea Turner was considered the top overall pick. He had a ok spring for NC State, but slightly lower BA and OBP and steals than his sophomore year, so he fell to 13. Aaron Nola was also the best pitcher in college that year for LSU, with lots of strikeouts and basically not walking anyone. So, I vote for 1) not drafting the son of a major leaguer out of high school because he has name recognition, and 2) drafting a college player considered the top pick who falls. If the Twins get a chance at Roch Cholowsky, they should take it.

    This is the key. Caratini was waiting to see if Realmuto signed with Philly, or elsewhere. The Twins likely had this offer on the table. Once Realmuto signed in Philly, Caratini accepted the offer. i think they will try to pass Jackson through waivers. It’s unlikely he gets claimed, but it’s win-win; if he is claimed, the claiming team pays his $1.8million salary, and if he isn’t claimed, they’ve got catching depth at St. Paul. The real question this signing raises to me is whether they have also have a standing offer(s) out to 1-2 bullpen arms? Or is there a third $7mm signing for 7s wild?

    One month later, they “overtook” all seven on the list, plus a team with so few wins they weren’t even listed back in August. At least one thing they attempted succeeded this year.

    It would be great to get him back and give him the chance to close for the Twins that he never got. It seems as though they want him, but he may not want to go back, especially if they aren’t contending.

    Twins with Keaschall this year: .600 winning percentage. Twins without Keaschall this year: .467 winning percentage. Twins with Lopez this year: .550 winning percentage. Twins without Lopez this year: .400 winning percentage.

    Well, to be fair, it could be c and still also a or b. But let’s say that he gets a hit in his next 47 straight games. It would be a shame if he didn’t get to break DiMaggio’s streak because of a game where he got one PA that resulted in a broken arm. Admittedly, there is a chance this won’t wind up being an issue.

    Keaschall has played in 10 games as a Twin. He’s gotten base hits in 9 of the games. In the tenth game (well, seventh), back in April, he got exactly one plate appearance, in which he also got a hit…by pitch. Breaking his arm. Can we get a special ruling on this, as either a)a 10 game hit streak or b)a 9 game hit streak?

    Am I the only one finding this version of the Twins more fun to watch than the June-July version? Correa walking around the dugout with a back brace was sort of a metaphor. This version seems to be playing with some urgency and a chip in their shoulder.

    I don’t know how to analyze the return on these trades; the general consensus it seems like they could have gotten better prospects for at least some of the individual trades. But for me, it all seems haphazard, and could have been executed more strategically. If they knew Wednesday they were going to trade the best five relievers, I think they could have packaged players together to get more than they got. For example, could they have traded Varland and Castro together for a couple of better prospects? Could Duran and Jax together have netted Painter? (But actually, maybe Abel, Tait and Bradley together is actually a good return for Duran and Jax, and better than getting just Painter?) Anyway, doesn’t feel like they had a clear direction with these moves, with clarity on what they were trying to get back, or how to maximize what they got back.
