    Fair, and it is worth reviewing each case rather than making some blanket conclusion. However, it is probably also true that the FO may feel less allegiance to a player who goes through the arbitration process to the end.

    Also, in the Dan Hayes piece in the Athletic, he notes that previous Twins who went to arbitration included Nick Gordon (traded), Jose Berrios (traded), and Luiz Arraez was about to go to arbitration, but they traded him before they even got there! So, if you like playing on the Twins, don’t go to arbitration.

    I think this article should be retitled “Twins land former — and soon to be current — top prospect Diego Cartaya.”

    It looks like they saved about $2mm, which might be enough for a free agent signing (or even two). If the Twins FO are under strict orders not to raise payroll, this may be what they have to do to sign anyone.

    Although one of those 4th downs was with :33 seconds left and the game was already decided. The Lions were 2 for 2 on their other 4th downs; one was TD and one was followed immediately by a TD. On a third 4th down they totally fooled the D with a hard count, and then immediately scored the last TD. I like the mentality - our offense is so good, I don’t ever want to voluntarily give the ball up.

    He’ll better next week against a worse team and hopefully get a shot a redemption in two weeks. Don’t count Sam out yet.

    They reseed. Lions play the lowest remaining seed. Only way they don’t play the Vikings is if either Tampa or GB wins.

    Silver lining—Darnold has this game under his belt now, and can be better prepared in the playoffs. Wouldn’t want this to have been the playoffs.
