  1. 3 throws, 1 running. Just that one of the throws was to a Viking - from last year’s team.
  2. To be fair, McCarthy threw 3 TDs in his debut.
  3. They’re succeeding at being bad, even if it wasn’t their goal…
  4. Looking at the win totals a few days back to now: Giants 60 wins…now 63 Angels 60 wins (ineligible for lottery)…now 61 Diamondbacks 60 wins…now 64 Marlins 59 wins…now 61 Twins 58 wins…now 59 orioles 57 wins…now 60 Braves 56 wins…now 59 A's 56 wins…now 60 Pirates…….didn't bother to list before….now 57
  5. Well, if their goal is to get a higher draft pick, they seem to be succeeding.
  6. And I for one am hoping he makes more than his base salary this year (and the next few).
  7. Meaning if he doesn’t get an AB in a game, it doesn’t count as a game for streak purposes?
  8. It would be great to get him back and give him the chance to close for the Twins that he never got. It seems as though they want him, but he may not want to go back, especially if they aren’t contending.
  9. Twins with Keaschall this year: .600 winning percentage. Twins without Keaschall this year: .467 winning percentage. Twins with Lopez this year: .550 winning percentage. Twins without Lopez this year: .400 winning percentage.
  10. Well, to be fair, it could be c and still also a or b. But let’s say that he gets a hit in his next 47 straight games. It would be a shame if he didn’t get to break DiMaggio’s streak because of a game where he got one PA that resulted in a broken arm. Admittedly, there is a chance this won’t wind up being an issue.
  11. Keaschall has played in 10 games as a Twin. He’s gotten base hits in 9 of the games. In the tenth game (well, seventh), back in April, he got exactly one plate appearance, in which he also got a hit…by pitch. Breaking his arm. Can we get a special ruling on this, as either a)a 10 game hit streak or b)a 9 game hit streak?
  12. Am I the only one finding this version of the Twins more fun to watch than the June-July version? Correa walking around the dugout with a back brace was sort of a metaphor. This version seems to be playing with some urgency and a chip in their shoulder.
  13. I don’t know how to analyze the return on these trades; the general consensus it seems like they could have gotten better prospects for at least some of the individual trades. But for me, it all seems haphazard, and could have been executed more strategically. If they knew Wednesday they were going to trade the best five relievers, I think they could have packaged players together to get more than they got. For example, could they have traded Varland and Castro together for a couple of better prospects? Could Duran and Jax together have netted Painter? (But actually, maybe Abel, Tait and Bradley together is actually a good return for Duran and Jax, and better than getting just Painter?) Anyway, doesn’t feel like they had a clear direction with these moves, with clarity on what they were trying to get back, or how to maximize what they got back.
  14. Off 26: Chris Paddack, RHP Jhoan Duran, RHP Harrison Bader, OF Danny Coulombe, LHP Willi Castro, OF Brock Stewart, RHP Carlos Correa, SS Louis Varland, RHP Ty France, 1B Griffin Jax, RHP Off 40: Randy Dobnak, RHP
  15. i have not read all 13 pages, so I don’t know if this has been said, but “Mick Abel” is a nice complement to “Billy Amick.” If Billy starts going by Bill or Abel gets a (Rocco) “Abelli” nickname, even better.
  16. It is pretty clear that the Twins are planning to sell off their impending free agents, with most expecting Coulombe, Castro and Bader to be on the move in the next 36 hours. However, the Twins’ brass has a penchant for going after controllable pitchers, so that they can compete now but also compete in the medium term. Pablo, Ryan, Paddack are all examples of this sort of thinking. Which brings me to Edward Cabrera, one of the best starting pitchers on the market. Cabrera is having a breakout year, is cheap, and is controllable for three years after this one. If the Twins landed him, he could help them make a (very unlikely) run down the final two months this year. More importantly, he’d be a big part of their rotation plans for the next three years. I am sure the Twins have at least checked in on what the price would be - which would undoubtedly be very high. But what would the price actually be? I’d make Keaschall and Jenkins untouchable. But beyond that, including two players from the system top 10, and maybe another lower level flyer or two. Perhaps Emmanuel Rodriguez, Riley Quick, and Billy Amick…would that be enough to get it done? Interested to hear what people might think.
  17. This did not age well. (Also, the Twins could have drafted Lee, Prielipp, and then STILL gotten Anthony with their 68th pick they used on Tanner Schobel before the Red Sox drafted him 79th in 2022.)
  18. Lee hit that 0-2 99 mph fastball that was way up and out of the zone. Helluva at bat, kid!
  19. 9 runs in the 9th and 10th inning isn’t too shabby
