  1. I would explore all avenues. My concern is that the free agent class for starters is thin so a trade might be your best bet. Here is one thing I know for sure: I am not counting on SWR Festa Balazovic and the other half dozen name’s constantly thrown out for anything.
  2. Welcome to Silly Season where no take is too outlandish or based in fact. Here is my Twins Daily PSA: Byron Buxton has a FULL NO TRADE CLAUSE. He took less money to stay here. HE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE
  3. The umpiring was not good. However the Twins two strike approach makes the problem markedly worse. They appear to be looking for certain pitches even with two strikes and will not protect the plate. So yea Julien is right that the ball is inside two inches and yea I don’t care because way too often the ump is going to call it a strike. So yea you were right but you are also sitting in the dugout. This is especially a problem with runners on base.
  4. As I stated in a different thread my worry going into the playoffs was our feast or famine offense would lay an egg and give us no chance to win. And it happened. Multiple times. I like many things the FO has done. I so appreciated not having to watch Archer Bundy etc this year. But I just have this bad feeling that their philosophy for lineup and bullpen construction is flawed and we all know they ain’t changing which means more of the same next year.
  5. The Pressly trade continues to get worse. Never understood that one.
  6. I’ve been a believer in Kiriloff but my belief is starting to waver. Scouts liked his potential at first but he has been inconsistent with the glove and is not a good outfielder. His hitting profile of gap to gap power with lots of line drives isn’t evident. He seems to have gravitated towards the three true outcomes approach and it ain’t working. Don’t know if that is being placed upon him by the hitting coaches or what. Next year is huge for Alex in my opinion. I believe it could literally make or break for him.
  7. What about getting doubled off? Sounded like a blunder on the radio but don’t trust not TD sources.
  8. I could not watch the game. It was suggested on Twitter that Julien didn’t run hard out of the box and should have had a triple not a double. Of course then he gets doubled off. Can anyone shed light on these two events?
  9. The ump last night was excellent. If I was mlb I would provide the box they use to grade umpires to all the tv networks as the boxes are different. I’m sure several pitches would be graded differently. Plus mlb allow a small buffer zone where either call is deemed acceptable. I’m not saying umpiring isn’t bad but it may be less bad than what we see. By allowing this difference they are denigrating their own product.
  10. My concern coming into the playoffs was that our offense which is feast or famine would have a game or games where we have no chance to win because we just don’t do anything with the bats. Like last night.
  11. How about we don’t throw the ball over the middle of the plate? I’m sure they put together a clear plan to deal with the guy. The problem is the pitcher has to execute the plan.
  12. In all phases one team has executed and one hasn’t. Could be playoff experience? This game looks a little big for our boys.
  13. Kenta getting way too much of the plate.
  14. Their two strike approach has been horrendous for a while now. They guess even with two strikes.
  15. Home plate ump has been excellent so far. Stark contrast to prior games.
  16. Like the lineup. Great to see Royce in the field and I like Castro starting in center.
  17. This is correct. Once they get a decent lead Rocco’s player usage is driven by defensive capabilities.
  18. He doesn’t have to redeem himself for anything. The guy has been a good player for a long time. He’s played through injuries and is now playing out of position for the benefit of the team.
  19. Man Buck is a lightning rod. Everyone just relax - reports are he is not even close to running full speed or doing baseball activities. The next time you see him will be spring training.
  20. I think Rocco has done a good job with his pinch hitting decisions. Especially last night NOT pinch hitting for Farmer so he could maintain his best defense with a lead. I think it is important to note that he doesn’t make the wholesale changes unless he has an opportunity to break the game open. I’m fine with that because you never know when those opportunities will come. The only time I grind my teeth is when the moves leave the Twins compromised defensively.
