    I love Cory Provus but he just lauded Zebby for having 9 strikeouts when he has given up 5 runs in five innings. Sometimes the performance on the scoreboard is the most important thing.

    I’ve noticed they are letting Jenkins and Em Rod stay in there against lefties. I think this whole issue is driven by the organization’s belief they can make incremental gains by raising the floor with clever little tactics like this. I just want real hitters - the kind that raise the ceiling and don’t care which batters box they stand in.

    More broadly, I think this approach to hitting has just been taken too far. Trying to pull and elevate the ball is not a new concept. I mean Harmon Killebrew wasn’t out there trying to shoot singles to right field. I just think it is being taken to the extreme by hitters who aren’t good enough to pull it off. I think Buck would be a more productive hitter if he hit some outside pitches to right / center and he has crazy good natural power. Same thing with Royce and others. The Twins organizational hitting philosophy clearly encourages hitters to try and yank everything to the pull side. Their overall results developing hitters would suggest it’s not the solution.

    No way they should bring him back. He’s a league average hitter and can’t field a position. You don’t get to be a full time dh with a WRC+ of 108.

    My humble opinion is he doesn’t have the secondary pitches to be an effective starter. I like him in the pen. Same with Festa if he comes back healthy.

    Yes they did. I believe it was before the All Star break but yea I guess it’s Keystone Kops level of incompetence.

    Neither are worth worrying about. Both have had a few bright moments but also long stretches of ineffectiveness. If they are back they should be the 7th and 8th arms in the pen.

    The only thing I can think of is they want him off the 40 man for the offseason but still want to keep him so they are doing it now in hopes that he will sneak through. Occams Razor indicates Keystone Kops.

    Almost like there wasn’t really a plan for roster management. If you liked him enough to play essentially a player short through a period of time you were trying to contend why would you DFA him now?

    Excited about Rojas. Live arm and good stuff - just needs more control. DeBarge was a poor draft selection and is doubtful to ever see the bigs. I expect to read much angst about Rosario being taken in the Rule 5 draft. Don’t worry about it

    Assuming the Twins don’t find a big bat to DH, I would bring Wallner back and give him a chance to be the DH. If he struggles you simply release him at any time. A bit of a long shot but the reward would be substantial.

    I actually think Sanos downfall was the higher velocity that became common a few years into his career. He couldn’t catch up to the high heat so he had to start his swing earlier which made him very vulnerable to breaking stuff low and away.

    I was against bringing him back but considering how things played out it was ok. Given the situation I would have rolled the dice with EmRod / Roden. It was a quintessential Falvey “floor” move which didn’t do much for this year and nothing for the future. Larnach is usually a league average hitter even while strongly platoon protected and not a good fielder. It kills me that we lived with that for several years waiting for his big breakout of 121 OPS+. If Zoll brings him back he needs to be shown the door. Ah hell, show him the door anyway.

    My guess is their next long term answer at first base is not in the organization currently.

    This is an interesting topic that should be expanded to a broader discussion of hitting philosophies. As far as EmRod goes, he will never walk at the rate he did in the minors. MLB pitchers will make him swing the bat. Then the question becomes does he increase his contact rate or does he follow the Julien road. He appears to be a plus defender so that helps.

    Emma has contributed with the glove a couple of times now. Good to see.

    Spot on. Not to pee on anyone’s BBQ but trading Larnach isn’t really a thing at his likely arb number - no surplus value. I think the Twins will be forced to non - tender him. I suppose he could DH but I would shoot higher.

    The title of the post is apt. Many mistakes have been made by the FO but ownership, and their inability to pick a lane and stick to it, are arguably a bigger problem. Must be frustrating to work for an organization that has a new long term plan every year.

    Not to be too picky but I find this statement absolutely incorrect: “The Twins have spent much of 2026 evaluating what their next competitive roster should look like”. I think the Twins have done a poor job of this in 2026 and will set back the inevitable rebuild or reload because of it.

    This. Buxtons injuries are not helpful but he is the lone difference maker they have right now. One plus is they now have multiple guys that can play competent CF in his absence. It makes zero sense to turn him into a DH when he is still your best fielder. Play him regularly and give him a few days off here and there. When he gets hurt IL him and get him back to healthy and let him play regularly again. He doesn’t have to play 140 games to be really valuable- just don’t let him play hurt for any length of time.

    This just in: Lindbergh baby kidnapped. Some of us have been saying this for three years. It’s scary to me as a Twins fan that our personnel decision makers rode this group for so long without coming to the conclusion that we needed to make dramatic changes.

    Who knows? The Twins haven’t been good at self scouting and have been particularly lousy at self scouting their relievers.
