  1. I would think MLB has its hands full with solving its current problems.
  2. Yea my immediate reaction was please don’t hurt Winokur. Kid has a chance to be special.
  3. Very curious about the the last bullpen spot since they’ve apparently told Blewett that it’s not him. Of course a couple weeks ago we were in a tizzy that we had too many good relievers
  4. And Gasper is leaving in a cart.
  5. Gasper made a mess of that play. Martin looks so uncomfortable in the outfield
  6. Happy to see Winokur at short. Guy is an interesting prospect with a plus arm, power and maybe speed. From what I’ve seen he has the second biggest arm of any infielder in the system behind C4
  7. I don’t know about top 10 as I largely think health will be a huge factor in their overall effectiveness. However I will say I am much more worried about their ability to score runs than I am about pitching.
  8. I am not shy about criticizing the Twins on player evaluation but I think it’s really a stretch to say they blew it with Hendricks. He got passed around to several teams due to ineffectiveness after the Twins let him go. Finally he starts throwing substantially harder and becomes a good reliever. It’s interesting because he was kind of a slightly built guy with the Twins - when he had success he was built like a linebacker so he must have really hit those, ahem, weights. As far as Varland goes I hope he succeeds but the jury is still out on him even in relief. He has the velocity but his fastball is pretty straight. He has no effective secondary pitches with the possible exception of a baby cutter. If he can really spot those two pitches he could be a good reliever but the margin for error is pretty slim.
  9. I posted almost this exact thing on the other roster thread.
  10. Yes, which is scary. The guy has no idea where he is throwing the ball.
  11. One thought I have is whether Lee will be completely healthy by Opening Day. If not I would IL him and let him get to 100%. For me Martin gets sent out for sure so that means Kiersey stays. If Lee is healthy then I would keep Gasper (I can’t believe I am saying that). The flexibility to have him catch an inning here and there along with being a switch hitter makes him a decent bench player. If they were willing to have a set DH I would keep Julien and let him see what he can do with the bat. As many point out this is not that crucial because things will change within the first couple of weeks.
  12. Not to mention the potential collisions with base runners when fielding poor throws, runners stepping on his foot etc. There is no “safe” position on the field but third base would likely be the closest to safe.
  13. I also don’t care what these sites think about prospects. He is going to be what he is going to be - we will eventually know for sure.
  14. This stat strikes me like catcher framing. There is a kernel of truth somewhere in there but there is so much noise as to make quantifying it pretty much worthless. How many outs? How many men on base? Who’s pitching? What’s he throwing? What constitutes a hard grounder vs a looping liner, etc.? Analytics are very valuable but not everything that can be measured is accurate.
  15. Ouch. That seems like a an item not universally agreed upon enough to bundle it in HOA dues.
  16. Correct - both sides will continue to negotiate up til the deadline. If Direct TV doesn’t carry it I will cancel them and purchase Twinstv directly (may do it anyway). I think the $20 a month is reasonable - people spend more than that at Starbucks on Wednesday morning.
  17. I’m in this boat as well.
  18. The biggest problem here is we don’t know if Lee can hit MLB pitching - now and in the future. He may end up needing to go back to AAA for a while.
  19. To think that when Lewis was drafted he had elite level speed and compare that to now. I’m not sure I can recall a loss of speed that great for any player. I get that it is mostly injury related.
  20. That was a professional double play.
  21. Mornie (who I love as a guy) is in mid-season form. He is taking an entire half inning to make one point.
  22. Ok - are we going Miranda at third and Lee at second or Lee at third and Julien or Castro at second?
  23. Buck puts that in his hip pocket. Bad read and route by Bader
