  1. Murphy has just as good a chance to be a gold glover as hicks. If he were still with the Twins he would be the second best defensive center fielder on the roster.

  3. The million dollar question is what 10 starts last year mean this year.
  4. No way it is May. As much as people want to criticize the Twins, no way does he have that role.
  5. He's starting to get a few hits so he's your starter.
  6. Actually I hope he starts hitting so he can start for the Twins. He's already better defensively
  7. I disagree that Duffy is a lock. People are giving way to much credit to a relatively short stretch of success last year. Milone was arguably the Twins best pitcher last year. The battle is between Nolasco and Duffy
  8. If there is cluster luck shouldn't there be cluster "unluck" that might offset it. How many times did the Twins get a bunch of hits but due to bad luck not score many runs?
  9. Not at all. There are plenty of spring training at bats for everyone. Plus anybody on the 40 man that isn't in contention (Kepler abw) is going to be sent to minor league camp ASAP so they don't risk injury and MLB service time on the MLB DL. This whole thing is a non story; most clubs do it just to see if they catch lighting in a bottle not because they are planning on them.
  10. This is correct. Eddie does lots of things that stats don't always capture.
  11. Experience is a big factor. Successful big league players learn and get better. We will s=e if that is Eddie.
  12. By the 4th of July I hope our outfield from left to right is rosario, Buxton and Kepler with Sano at third. Trevor can be traded or move around but his presence shouldn't dictate the lineup
  13. I guess this makes two. Who the hell is Meatsauce and why should we be interested?
  14. He's not going anywhere as he has an option left. Don't worry about it if he rakes in Rochester he'll get his chance.
  15. I don't know Chief if you have to give a multi year contract who will block a valued prospect kind of ties your hands, no?
  16. Not to pile on but it's quite common for young hitters to struggle adjusting to a mlb breaking ball. It took Torii about three years.
  17. There are many ways to construct a lineup. I think the biggest factor is each guy has to contribute something (power speed obp). When you have multiple guys in the lineup that don't do anything well and strikeout a lot your offense is going to sputter.
  18. Hold on here, I thought it was well documented the Twins brainwashed all their hitters to go the other way?
  19. For years (long before sabrmetrics) I always believed that you could lump fielders into three categories: 1) elite difference makers which comprise maybe 15%. 2) guys that are difference makers because that are that bad with the glove (again about 15%). And 3) everybody else who are so similar that over the course of a season they will have roughly the same impact with the glove. Interesting that the Twins had nobody in the elite category and maybe two in the bad category (Hunter and Susuki and they were close to the middle group)
  20. This. If this were a blind taste test everyone would be in love with Milone. Everyone is in love with what they think May, Gibson, Duffey WILL do as opposed to what Milone has actually done.
  21. Plus one hundred. I think this applies to other threads as well. I can fully endorse criticism of not improving the bullpen where many options were available but catchers are a completely different story.
  22. Instead of wasting your talents assessing my posting ability find out how many "damn good" catchers there are out there and how many would be available in any kind of reasonable trade. That would cut to the heart of the matter quickly.
  23. I understand your angle on this and it applies strongly in most positions. My only caveat is that damn good catchers are rare and not available for trade. You pretty much have to draft those.
  24. My biggest concern is Park. He's going to dictate what happens to several players and I think there is a good chance he's going to struggle. But with the contract he's gonna play. I bet that one of Arcia / Vargas would match his production at DH. If true we would be far better off without him. And yes I really hope I'm wrong.
