  1. For me, the individual moves made or not made isn’t the story. The apparent lack of direction is what is really concerning to me. My fear is they are going to waste Ryan Lopez and Jeffers by trying to thread a very small needle in 2026. Ironically I don’t think the fan base is going to feel much different if they blew it up or if they go 82-80. Please pick a direction and pursue it.
  2. He is one of the smartest baseball guys out there. I’m also anticipating that he won’t ramble on like most of the other analysts do. Looking forward to it.
  3. Thanks for the good info. Seems like command / control is the real problem. Watching him last year I was left with the feeling that pitches got away from him frequently.
  4. Culpepper is a really important prospect for the Twins. If he can play a decent SS in the big leagues the Twins infield could begin to take shape. If he can’t, we will either continue wandering in the desert or give up a really good pitcher or two to solve the problem. I am really skeptical of Houston. If you play 3 years of high level college ball and struggle that badly at high A, that’s a huge red flag. This season will say a lot about both players.
  5. I’m having the same issue. Can respond to a post but can’t originate one.
  6. Great article. Technology certainly makes the adjustment period shorter than it has ever been. The sinker was thrown for a really long time and then launch angle killed it. As hitters are now adjusting to high heat the sinker is coming back. Interesting stuff
  7. I would not characterize his tenure as a success nor an abject failure. Given the payrolls relative to the division and the weaker competition within the division, we should have made the playoffs more often. One thing I want to push back on was the statement that he inherited a horrible roster. Buxton, Sano, Kepler, Polanco, Berrios, Gibson, Pressly, May etc. with the exception of 2019 you could argue he never assembled a roster as good as the one he inherited.
  8. I like the idea and would prefer it to having Bell at first but that bed seems to be made. I think you will get your wish of Martin / Roden in left but I will bet Larnach is the DH. Just don’t see surplus value there in a trade.
  9. Thats kind of the point - they purposely avoided using higher draft picks on pitchers for the first half or more of Falveys tenure because they deemed it too risky and that they had the secret sauce on these later round college guys. Some of them will be good relievers but that particular strategy hasn’t worked to develop starters as they originally hoped it would. I also understand they have acquired good starters via trade and they get a hot tip for that but in that you have to give to get.
  10. I like it. It’s been a black hole for a while so let’s try something different.
  11. What this, combined with the other Twins pitching scouting reports tells me is that the late round college pitcher who we can add velocity to premise isn’t the market inefficiency that the Twins were banking on. Perhaps the pitchers taken in early rounds are better after all.
  12. This sums it up nicely for me. There doesn’t seem to be a strategic plan that takes into account future years. So I hope we flip heads five times in a row and win 85 games. I’ll still enjoy watching.
  13. Terry Ryan hasn’t been around for ten years. I’m not sure why we are even worried about what he did or didn’t do. Falvey had plenty of time.
  14. This sums it up nicely for me. I would characterize Falvey a little more charitably but still not good enough to warrant hanging on to his job. Realistically it took both parties failing to create this mess.
  15. Yep I’m thinking it is being used on purpose by the writers as it never fails to get a reaction, even though nobody really knows precisely what it is 😀
  16. With a pick this high you have to get a high upside pitcher, catcher, SS or CF. For that reason I would lean towards LeBron. As you pointed out a lot of things can change before the draft.
  17. Signing Nelson Cruz and then flipping him for Joe Ryan has to be his best move, one of the best in franchise history. The rest of his tenure has been meh or worse. One reason I’m looking forward to Zoll having a shot is I don’t think it will be difficult to match Falveys performance and he may well exceed it.
  18. Actually a differing vision might be the solution. None of us know what happened behind the scenes other than the net result of the Joe Pohlad era has been confusing and rudderless. Joe is gone which is probably a good thing. Falvey leaving is potentially a very good thing. From a baseball perspective he was mediocre at best. He wasn’t horrible as some suggest but the bad decision pile was clearly bigger than the good decision pile. He was dogmatic in his baseball principles even when they didn’t work. From the business side he had no prior experience running a franchise so it’s probably a really good idea for Tom to bring in an experienced business person to take care of that half of the franchise exclusively. They sure could use some improvement. Regarding Zoll, I have no idea but the bar to clear to equal Falvey is t that high. Not much to lose here and potentially lots to gain if he turns out to be a sharp baseball mind who can better blend analytics with better organizational planning and good old baseball common sense. So while it looks like a clown show right now, these moves just might give this organization better footing and a clearer idea of which direction to head. Like others Toms messaging is concerning but I think it’s just smoke and mirrors to try and turn a negative PR tide.
  19. And the cupboard remains bare. Keep going - we soon will find a position/pipeline with something there.
  20. Who knows but I’m guessing Tom wanted to wait a couple of months to see how things were working first hand before he started making high level decisions. Came to the conclusion that Falvey wasn’t his guy.
  21. Well it we are going by position numbers 3rd base is next which ought to be a real knee slapper.
