  1. Falvey is always the smartest guy in the room, just ask him....that's why he talks to us and reporters like we're not-very-smart and can't see what he's really saying. To change his mindset would be to admit mistakes. And that is never going to happen.
  2. I mean.....how many candidates do we really think wanted to come here? The phrase "beggars can't be choosers" comes to mind. Was hoping for Servais, but Falvey was never going to hire anyone who might question him, his analytics nerds or their computer printouts.
  3. I can't wait. I can't believe it's become more important for a catcher to fool an umpire than it is to just catch the ball, block a ball in the dirt or throw out a baserunner. Now that framing will, theoretically, become far less of a thing, here's hoping catchers become good at playing their position again.
  4. I think what happens with Ryan is going to say a LOT about what Falvey thinks of his home-grown roster. If he trades Ryan it's b/c he doesn't think his roster (the one HE built) can't compete. If he (mistakenly?) thinks it can, then I don't see why you would trade a very cost effective #2 starter. I think Ryan gets traded and then we get to hear Falvey's word salad sermon about it being a move to improve the team now and in the future.
  5. This. This is THE biggest problem. I guess we can hope Rocco and his staff were the main reason for absolutely ZERO progress from their position players. I've felt for a few years it was more of an organizational failure. Stay tuned....
  6. We're all Twins fans. We should expect nothing less than Falvey dealing Ryan and Lopez
  7. I'd rather see Bradley moved to the bullpen and Abel continue to develop as a starter.
  8. I'll have what Peter is having... :)
  9. A few thoughts. 1) Fire Baldelli or not, Falvey and the FO have done a p*ss poor job building a roster. 2) I don't think Rocco has much of a "gut" for managing, if any kind of one at all. The best...Francona, Bochy, Hinch, etc., know how to marry analytics with their gut instinct. 3) I don't understand why, after the deadline, the team was suddenly running more, playing more "small ball". Where was that before August 1? Rocco just doesn't seem to have a plan beyond what his computer printout from Falvey's analytical nerds tells him. 4) Let's be honest.....if Rocco is fired, no one is going to line up to bring him in as a manager. That should tell us all we need to know. I'm not a "fire the coach/manager" guy, but........
  10. I love Luke Keaschall. But he isn't exactly a Gold Glover at 2B....at this point anyway. But are were 100% sure that defensively they wouldn't be better off with Martin at 2B and Keaschall in LF? Keaschall did play some OF in the minors.
  11. Along with Luke Keaschall and Joe Ryan, one of the (very) few reasons to watch this team.
  12. Two things: 1) Festa is clearly headed to the bullpen IMHO 2) Falvey came from Cleveland. Has anyone noticed how quickly the Guardians/Indians pitchers struggle with injuries? We hear about these prospects and then they get hurt....guys like Bieber, Clevinger, Tristan McKenzie.....
  13. The most important thing to winning organizations....and the thing the current regime is the worst at, and it rarely gets mentioned. It's not just about payroll.
  14. I think the "Crossroad" came in October 2023 when Little Joey announced they were cutting payroll eight months or so after signing Correa and then winning a playoff series. We are well past the so-called crossroads.
  15. I assume Pablo gets activated to fill one spot. I don't ever want to see Noah Davis pitch again. Ever. But I'd say the same of Kriske and Cabrera. Raya hasn't been all that good in St.Paul. How about Connor Prielipp and Gabby Gonzalez? Or Kyler Fedko?
  16. Half seems very optimistic given this regime's inability to develop position players. I'm always hopeful....just beaten down :)
  17. All of this leads to a larger question: can the Twins actually develop their top young players once they reach the majors? I believe the evidence almost universally says NO
  18. Man, Nick. I sure with the Pohlads would read your stuff. They might have a clue how their fans feel. Like you, I have absolutely no faith in the current regime to develop hitters. The track record speaks for itself.
  19. Everything the Pohlads, and to a degree Falvey, say is an affront to fans' intelligence. They are completely TONE DEAF to their fan base.
  20. I would put nothing beyond the Pohlads. But we all know the market and the ballpark are NOT the problem.
  21. There was one baseball fan in the Pohlad family and her name was Eloise. 40 years of Pohlad ownership tells us exactly what to expect going forward. I sincerely hope I'm wrong. I've been a Twins fan for 50 years and, even at a young age, celebrated when Calvin Griffith sold the team. Was hoping to be able to do so again. No such luck.
  22. No idea if either of these kids have a future in the bullpen. But I know this....IF they do have a future it's definitely in 'pen
  23. I think I did it. I found something positive about the whole thing. At least we know the Twins won't be moving.
