  1. Some interesting stats that I looked up on baseball-reference.com - Twins starters have left 54 inherited runners for the bullpen. That is about league average. - 69% of those runners have scored. That is the worst in baseball and it's not even close. The next closest is Philly at 49%. There are lots of problems with this team, but if you had to pick a place to start it's gotta be the bullpen or the way they are using their pitching staff. Maybe they need to move to an opener strategy.
  2. Good article, but awful defense in the late innings have nothing to do with luck. I can think of several losses that absolutely should not have happened, even given how lousy they have been. Professional baseball players should be making those plays.
  3. I know a part of the reason they gave Donaldson all that money was because of his glove. I have not been impressed.
  4. He also didn't walk anyone! (although there was that home run trot)
  5. I remember that '84 game against the Indians like it was yesterday. Joe Carter was a Twins killer.
  6. Message to Mr. Falvey and Mr. Levine: You are currently paying someone $5 million to give up 3 run homers in the ninth. I can do that for only $1 million! Savings = $4 million!
  7. I miss the humpty dome. I know it was much maligned, but when the Twins were winning that place rocked! It was a truly unique experience.
  8. The bullpen has been awful! I've been saying this for months!
  9. Isn't Torvald the Bleak the one who used to sound the gjallarhorn at the Metrodome?
  10. That heavy sinker reminds me of Scott Erickson in his prime.
  11. Someone is gonna get a bargain. The problem with a Clippard-Twins reunion is where do you put him? If you remove Theilbar it leaves Rogers as the only lefty (assuming you swap Dobnak for Thorpe). Can you justify Clippard over Alcala or Stashak? It's a tough call.
  12. Agreed. It's odd that he isn't signed yet. He has a good consistent track record. Are teams scared off by his age? Who knows.
  13. Why don't they build a real Twins Hall of Fame and museum? I was at Reds Hall of Fame in Cincinnati and it was awesome.
  14. What I find odd about this deal is that the Dodgers don't need Bauer. They already have six quality starters (including Price). Does adding Bauer make them better?
  15. And the Ian Hamilton news just got knocked off the front page.....It's an outrage!
  16. I assume it'll be a pitcher that gets DFAd. Including Colome, they already have 22 pitchers on the 40 man. Gibaut? Maybe they can sneak him through waivers.
  17. Blankenhorn can probably do the job as well as anyone else on the Twins radar, but I wonder if he would be better served by playing every day at AAA. Barring injuries, the Twins will make every effort to get Arraez in the lineup, leaving few opportunities for the second utility guy.
  18. Good article. The dude has flat out hit at every level he has played at. And it's not like Ben Revere, who always had a good average but low OBP. Arraez gets on base, period. He has started about a third of his games for the Twins at positions other than 2B. Maybe they move him around the field. If he can spell Donaldson and also play 2B and OF that should be able to keep his bat in the lineup full time.
  19. Good article, but the projected dollar amounts are less than what Trevor May got. I don't see that happening. As much as I would like to see either one of these guys in a Twins uniform, the front office has shown they don't like to commit big dollars to the bullpen.
  20. It wouldn't shock me if the Twins are done adding starting pitching. That's probably not what people want to hear, but it's also not the worst thing considering other pressing needs (bullpen, infield). Who are we losing....Homer Bailey, Rich Hill, Odorizzi. None of those guys were significant contributors to last year's team. They are adding a full year of Pineda and whatever they can get out of Happ. Maybe they add another reclamation project (Rick Hill Part 2?), but otherwise I think they're done.
  21. The bullpen needs to be the number one priority.
  22. Was this a Terry Ryan move? I thought it was Bill Smith. I saw Capps implode against the Brewers at Target Field. Completely ruined my summer. Some trades are only bad in retrospect, but this one was a head scratcher from day one. They traded a blue chip prospect for Matt Capps. And it wasn't that was necessarily bad, he was just very average.
  23. Good article. I agree 100 percent that Yates and Rosenthal would be good fits for the Twins. Unfortunately, they would fit on a lot of teams, and I don't see them signing for the projected amounts shown here, especially when Trevor May got what he did. This front office has shown they don't want to devote significant dollars to relief pitching. Once the music stops, I'm afraid the Twins will be left without a chair for the area they need the most help.
  24. Has anyone signed Orosco yet for 2021?
