  1. And the Twins didn't develop Ryan. They stole him from the Rays. I bring this up because it speaks to the number one problem with this organization....they cannot develop good pitching. Berrios was the last. Maybe Ober will be the next success.
  2. Good article with only one nitpick.....not everyone agreed with the Berrios trade at the time. It was stupid then, and looks worse by the day.
  3. I wonder if the MLB loan guarantee has more to do with satisfying the current lenders. Presumably, whoever buys the team may take on more debt to finance the purchase. The current lenders may be concerned about being pushed down the pecking order in the event of a bankruptcy.
  4. When you have good, young, controllable pitching, you cling to it with every ounce of your being. Of course people will spread rumors, but I can't imagine any trade package that would be advantageous to the Twins. Of course, I thought it made zero sense to trade Berrios.
  5. The Twins haven't had a true leadoff hitter in a while (Denard Span?). Maybe Gabriel Gonzalez can be that guy.
  6. Forget the booth. They need him back at the top of the lineup.
  7. Am watching on MLB Network. Who is doing color with Cory Provus?
  8. My blood gets up any time someone brings up that trade. It made no sense at the time and looks even worse in retrospect.
  9. The Pohlad 's need to go, Falvey needs to go, and Rocco needs to go. It's a complete organizational failure.
  10. Doesn't he need to rest his arm? It's a long season.
  11. I know there has been rumors and speculation that the $425 million in debt is related to other Pohlad business ventures, but there is no way to know that and I don't understand why people keep repeating it. Could they have run up $425 million in baseball debt... absolutely. The Twins have contributed hundreds of millions to the construction and upkeep of Target Field. Then there was the pandemic and attendance has not recovered. The TV revenue has also been less than they were expecting. It wouldn't shock me if the Twins have been in a relatively cash poor position the last few years. We don't the exact terms of the Rays sale, but whoever buys them will have to pony up some dough to help resolve their stadium situation.
  12. Some trades are only bad in retrospect. This one was a head scratcher from day one. Matt Capps people......Matt Capps
  13. There was a game in Seattle where the Twins had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs late in the game. I'm not a big fan of the bunt, but it was a situation that was screaming for small ball. Of course they didn't and failed to move a run across. It has to be some kind of organizational edict. NO BUNTING! I don't know how else to explain it.
  14. The Twins inability to hit lefties has been a problem for the last few years.
  15. If the Twins can make the playoffs, good pitching can take them far. That said, I don't see how they get there without Pablo, and replacing him would cost a king's ransom. If there's a rental starter that can be had for cheap, then the Twins should bite, but even rentals aren't cheap these days.
  16. Yeah, I don't lose sleep over this one. In the pantheon of bad Minnesota sports trades, this is nowhere near making the list. It wasn't even close to the worst deadline trade the Twins made that year. Cade Povich and Yennier Cano to the Orioles for Jorge Lopez.........oofda!
  17. If a team is going to play a lot of close games, then they have to do the little things right. The Twins just don't. Sloppy base running did them in yesterday, and the defense let them down in the 9th today. This has been the story all season.
  18. I was shocked they even tried. Just poor base running.
