Being bored and not really wanting to go out and mow the boulevard I did some searching in Baseball Ref.
I found that in 1961, the most individual Twins ever hit home runs.
17 without the pitcher and 20 including the pitchers.
Apparently there was a LOT of platooning that year; the next year it was down to 13 and 16 with the pitchers.
1963 it was up to 15 and 17 with the pitchers, after that it changed pretty much to 13 plus or minus one on average plus one or two pitchers, although in 1970 fielders got 15 and pitchers added 3 more.
1961 is interesting because Art Schroll ended his 6 year career with the Twins while in 20 PA accomplished 3 singles, a double and a home run while only striking out 4 times and 2 walks, with a .278 BA, mean while; -- Bill Daily in his long 4 year career in 1963 besides striking out 72 batters, in his huge 24 PA managed 4 singles and one home run, with a .238 BA, and an MVP award,; -- then -- in 1970 , Al Haydel , first of his 2 year career, managed in 3 PA: 1 double and 1 home run for a .667 batting average, and, won both game he pitched in.
Now with platooning the norm, and a DH, 17 different batters hitting home runs is not un usual, but things were different 40 plus years ago, especially with the higher pitchers mound.
