  1. I agree in Center Field especially , range, is of utmost importance. At that Lewis has poor range at Third Base and that may be one reason he is not in the outfield where it really, really counts. Slow to get to the ball, thrown in with an eephus pitch, that leads to extra bases and runs scored. Lewis' bat, if he is a good as he has shown glimmers of, will keep him in the game but unless his fielding improves, a bit, he may be sharing DH with some other gents a bit on, if one of the AAA rookies is as good as some think they are.
  2. By God man, I think you are right.
  3. MPH on a throw, means just as much as ball exit speed off of a bat; actually it means a lot more because an Eephus throw from the outfield can mean a hit is a double not a single, or, whether a runner breaking from Second can score. Lewis is at third because the baseball professionals determined that is where he belongs; Lee is a shot in the dark at this point so any talking of if , much less where, he plays is scuttlebutt. He is not a Correa class player in the infield, but this year will separate the wheat from the chaff as to who is the latest greatest and who is just competent .
  4. You could be correct; all outfielders are above him. His average is 1 mph less than his maximum; all the other outfielder difference is from 5 to 10 mph, that is a huge difference. There is no one listed under him who was an outfielder, because he does not belong in the outfield.
  5. Lewis does not have the arm needed for the outfield so he is not going there, ever.
  6. He did/is doing pretty well in the Venezuelan Winter League.
  7. For an absolute top rank pitcher it would more likely take Julien and Gordon at the very least
  8. Opportunity exists in the AAA where they can, show they are too good for AAA and maybe worth a try. The Majors are not AAA+.
  9. Do not count on them until they have at least 3 years exp., unless, they are the one in ten thousand that hit their stride first or second year out.
  10. If they hit years 4, 5, 6 and are not optioned back and forth (I will ignore injuries as that has nothing to do with talent) they are Major League quality. Years 1,2,3 are a crap shoot. The Twins are in a position to attract fans and money, as they have last years record to build on. This is NOT the time to be an extention of AAA, a veteran , even one who is not what he once was, knows the game and that is the part rookies do not have and it shows in their play. Lewis, Castro, and I will here will even say Wallner seem to be firing on all cylinders, showing they are probably going to be in the Majors for a long time, in probably one place many of the years. Larnach, Kirilloff, Julien and even Jeffers are running like a hit-miss engine.
  11. Or , and odds of rookie success, say another year of Celestino, Rooker and other such failures is more likely. Twins came off of a winning season, that is NOT when you roll the dice and hope they are good enough. Lewis, Castro and Wallner look like they MAY cast off rookie status ; none of the other Minor League players the Twins have brought up are near a sure thing, so bringing up unknown newbies and hope for the best is not how a team stays in post season play, especially one that lost the pitching edge it had. Elly De La Cruz came up looking like the next Ted Williams; by seasons end he looked more like Andreton Simmons; the Twins cannot afford such experiments until they fall back to also ran category.
  12. Polanco Julien is at best one-half the offense player Polanco is, and while Polanco is not an above average fielder he is still far better than Julien. Without Farmer, the Twins would be in a large world of hurt at Second Base.
  13. Julien is bad on defense, the TV commentators said, during games, hat he should have been scored with errors but the scorers were babying him. Batting verses Lefties Not better than Polanco offensively. You made a preposterous statement you got preposterous answer.
  14. Their confidence will turn to mush if they come up and simply do not play well hurting the team to a FAR, FAR greater degree. If they are not good enough to play full time, then they will learn to be a Major League part time player; if they cannot handle that, they should stay in the Minors.
  15. At 25.9 his sprint speed is 34 out of 57 First Basemen last year. .1 less than 29 year old Wade LaMonte Jr.
  16. Let us see, he is not good at First, he is not good at Third, so let us see if he is not good in the Outfield, Brilliant.
  17. Let them play in the minors until they show they belong in the Big Show. Spring Training may weed out some vets or rookies.
