Bat speed means nothing to me , put the bat barrel to the ball and hit ... Gibson comes to mind in the 88 world series , injured but pinch hitting he lofts a homerun to win the game off eckersley , it was just a weak swing but squared up the ball and presto , a homerun and lasorda was a happy camper ... I've seen many players hit one handed and get a hit , a players goal is to hit , a single , double , triple and a occasional homerun ...

A weakness at second base is a concern , can't wait for keashall to get healthy and move into the position ... In the mean time you have Julien who was just awful with the bat and glove in 2024 , but you have to give him another chance at second after he had a productive rookie year in 2023 , whether he makes the adjustments is up to him , he looked very lost in 2024 ... Lee or Lewis can play second base , most likely Lee can harness the position in the future but could be shipped to AAA after spring training to get his MOJO back , Lewis is an option but with experience he should be a very capable 3rd basemen , remember when Correa was hit in the wrist and sat out with the injury , Lewis filled in at shortstop and everyone praised his playing before being shipped back to AAA when correa resumed the position , lewis showed potential with the glove at shortstop but with time and experience at the hot corner he should be above average in time once he corrects his throwing errors ... So yes we have a need for a solid second basemen ...

No way Miami is taking on the salary for one year , plus trading starting pitchers for bullpen arms doesn't make sense ... The Padres are shedding payroll , so no to this trade idea ... Trading paddack and castro to Cincinnati has the most sense , but the return should be better than mentioned ... Maybe the giants , Oakland or angels would be interested , The front office seems to want plenty in return , they in my opinion are gun shy of trading , since the 2022 deadline trades , they made a trade last year but got back nothing to help the 2024 team , we need trades to help the major league roster ...

The front office put themselves in this position , they did sign Vazquez and have played him for 2 seasons with 1 to go , Vazquez is defense, if he hits that's a plus for his position ... If I was going to trade anyone it would be jeffers , he hasn't the stamina to be a everyday catcher , he hits alittle and that's what the fans want but it's streaky and his defense isn't as good as Vazquez no matter what the metrics say ... Trade jeffers and resign Vazquez as a backup catcher for lesser pay in 2026 , everyone wants to trade Vazquez because they think he is over paid ( i think the dodgers over pay all their free agents ) , extend Vazquez for lesser money and everyone will be happy ... For two seasons now , fans have harped on Vazquez because he doesn't hit , he going into his free agent year , I think he'll hit alittle better than last year even if he is getting older , I like watching Vazquez catch , he's in the game with his defense and smarts and pitchers like him ( do the pitchers think he is over paid , No )... The twins need to find a capable catcher for the future and quite sucking hind tit , call Pittsburgh or any team that has a catcher blocked that is ready to play for us ...

I like this idea ... Preillip and canterino are getting older and probably have the best stuff ... Because of injuries the haven't pitched alot of innings in the minors , I'm ready to see these two as bullpen options sometime in 2025 . Like the article said crochet went right to the bullpen for Chicago , so because there getting older , it's worth the risk to see what they can accomplish and develop in a major league bullpen to limit their innings , doesn't have to be pressure situations , their pitches are major league ready , so let them pitch to major league ball players ...

Exploring Two Trade Scenarios for Willi Castro
Blyleven2011 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The mariners are not trading for castro , they want hitters that don't strike out , If I remember correctly , castro struck out 150 plus ... The twins need to fill holes , I wait and see on the FO's creative moves ... Better get something exciting Going for the fans at twins fest ... -
Cody mentioned that a 6 man rotation hasn't been universally tested .... Doesn't the baseball in Japan have a six man rotation ( ive heard they do ), if so then it is time to study starting pitchers in Japan ... With extra rest from 5 to six , how do they fair with results , fastball faster , better control or the opposite , by pitching every 6th game are they more apt to be stronger and less likely to have any arm injuries ... ?????

Sasaki said to be signing with Dodgers, no surprise ... Trade rumors reported this 30 minutes ago ... Ryan is close to your top 5 , there is decent starters on 4 out of 5 central teams , I know nothing of the white Sox starting staff ... Detroit has a Cy young , the rest of the top 10 are solid pitchers ... Playball ,

The only way we will ever win consistently is to have a major league manager that can coach players and manage games .... The hitting roster has shown many years of blowing pressure situations , they choke with runners in scoring position , we have some pitchers that you can see the bulldog in them and they pitch through pressure , pitching is the name of the game , but the hitting also has to follow along ... As far as our hyped up prospects goes , the current rookies are not showing anything of a pedigree as of yet in the major leagues , I sure hope they can improve development one this level ... Every level you have a development stage before you step up to another level , the major leagues are no different .... I continue to emphasize how important it is to take this aaa talent and once in the major leagues the coaches need to help develop the talent and make this talent better to play consistently at this level .... Rocco said he never wants to see another season like 2024 , I hope the plan is to get better , we'll see how spring training games are constructed , this is when you want to experiment because that all it is , training , games don't count ...

What Is Carlos Correa's Mindset Right Now?
Blyleven2011 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
First year 2022 , Correa had an OK year mostly producing at the end of the season after a slow start ... 2023 he had an OK season but foot injuries he played through some of it , he tried ... 2024 he was having a very good year and then foot injury to the other foot but he couldn't play through it , season was lost ... My point is one player like Correa cannot solely be the main contributor and expect to win , the other players have to step up their game ... -

The Pohlad Empire (Part Three): Modern Airfare
Blyleven2011 replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
In order to purchase a baseball franchise the other owners have to approve a sale of the new owners , either the other owners are just as ruthless as Carl was , or they were not aware of the business tactics of Carl and associates , if you have a conscience you might not have accepted Carl as a new owner in 1984 , but as the old saying goes , MONEY TALKS AND BULL**IT WAĹKS ... I hope there is baseball in heaven and I don't have to see Carl there , the rich have sold there soul for the greed of money , they don't deserve the reward ... I'm happy with the little bit of money I've earned and saved , it's not alot but I might not spend it all before I go ... -
Trading castro with value and a 6 million salary makes the most sense to me and bring back value , he's played well on the team but we have in homegrown players to really fill all of his position , he is kinda a luxury ... If the twins were contenders I would consider an extension for Castro , I liked what Castro does for the twins , maybe they have or are trying to trade him but falvey placed to high of a value the trading partners shied away from acquiring him ...

There's good reason that the prospects are failing , especially since this current FO has taken over ... I've said it many times , the prospects in the minors are very capable of playing baseball and developing their skills for minor league baseball , but once in the major leagues it seems like our manager and coaches don't emphasize enough fundamentals to play the game the right way ... At the major leagues level you still have to teach , take the talent that you have and make the talent better , fix their weaknesses so they can stay in the show , Kepler and Sano are only 2 examples , they were on the team to long , where other teams would have given up on them long before .... Other prospects are coming up and have had decent minor league stats but haven't shown us any real value yet , YOU just can't tell the young man to just go out and play the game , the player has to take the field with the right mental approach and preparation ... We have more than enough coaches , more than we have ever had , why aren't we getting the results that we should be seeing ... I rest my case , coaching at the major league level is a must , name of the game is pitching , hitting , fielding and no injuries please ...

Carl bought a team and he didn't even have an interest in baseball , passed it on to his sons and they hated baseball even more ... Attendance is down in Minnesota because the owners have no interest in the game , don't know how to promote their team , don't care about the fans ... Goes to show you , owners have to have an interest in the sport to succeed , you can run it as a business but you have to also care about the product , pohlads care about money only ...

I don't think they could organize or explore to navigate out of a brown paper bag , it's alot of twins gibberish before twinsfest .... Why couldn't they communicate with the fans earlier in the offseason and just tell us to be patient and that they would explore and be creative at making the team better , I'm not saying contenders , because I'm not a pretender ...

The Twins Almanac: Weekend Edition
Blyleven2011 replied to Matt Johnson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like these almanacs , good Wright up .... I do have to disagree with 2016 being the worst season for the twins , 1990 wasn't good but 1991 the twins went from last to first so they redeemed themselves , 2021 and 2022 and the start of 2023 , and the end of 2024 were some of the most laughable bad playing games I have ever witnessed , the reason I don't think 2016 was the worst is because we lost a tremendous amount of 1 run competitive games ... Thanks and keep them coming ...- 4 replies

What i like the most is twins baseball ... What I like the least is our manager and coaches not taking out talent from AAA to the next level of the major leagues , it seems our talented prospects stall at the major leagues or they just weren't ready to be called up ... You never stop learning to play the game and our manager and coaches should emphasize this to the players , take that talent and make that talent even better ... You just can't tell a young man , go play baseball, you've got to help their weaknesses , other managers help there players get better , past and present ... I will never cut our manager and coaches any slack , because the players may take the field but there are alot of games they don't come to play , sloppy sloppy baseball because they don't know how many outs there are , on the bases they run into outs on stupid mistake , out fielders can't hit the cutoffs or throw to the right bases , hitting suckks at times against good pitchers because they lack discipline and adjustments at the plate , even mediocre pitching the hitting make the opposing pitcher look like a Cy young candidate ... I'm not sorry for the negativity , I'm just telling you of the reality of the twins and management , that will not place better than 3rd in our central division , but I'll follow every game always because of the love of the game of baseball , I live for opening day and the world series and everything in-between ... go twins ...
